Mega Rad Gun Thread

[You're] kinda fucked shooting in self defense in the USA. and anything you used for it is going in an evidence locker forever after that sadly. [There] is not a win self defense situation or even in the cases like these

This really depends on the micro-political climate you live in and the details of the shooting. There are some cut and dry self defense shooting cases where the shooter is barely detained. Hell you have police chiefs giving shoutouts sometimes.

Meanwhile in England you can call your convicted (but not imprisoned) rapist a bad name and get jailed.

Why not?

I applaud gun makers making new, interesting and sometimes silly designs (I'm looking at you, Kel-Tec.)

It's the only way we're gonna break free of the tired old "Striker-fired, polymer-framed, 9mm" or "AR-15 platform" design plateau the weapons industry is stuck on.

Agreed. Unfortunately the industry is stuck on "another AR or GLOCK-alike" mode because they work and people will buy them. Nothing wrong with wanting to get what you know will work, but I've got enough "serious" firearms to cover my needs, and now I'm more interested in uniqueness, innovation, or historical value/heritage. So I'm going to celebrate when a manufacturer decides they're going to try something new and bring out a product no one has ever seen before, and I'm going to hope that it is a successful design. We need more of that in the industry.

even Sam Hyde brought this up. your kinda fucked shooting in self defense in the USA. and anything you used for it is going in an evidence locker forever after that sadly. Their is not a win self defense situation or even in the cases like these
last self defense shooting here the cops didn't take the gun or arrest the shooter. Grand jury no-billed the shooter a few weeks later. IIRC, the commonwealths attorney is required to present it to the jury here.

it would be nice if fellas didn't want to charge two thousand dollars because their neat new pistol has a low bore axis and buttplug delayed blowback

It depends on some factors. Are they building something that's made of parts that can mostly or totally be made easily on machines, requires no hand-fitting, has a polymer frame, etc.? Then yeah, they're probably price gouging. Is the action or other mechanism complicated or is it a gun mostly made the old way with lots of metal and parts that require hand-fitting by a skilled gunsmith? Then the higher price is probably justified. Are they a small operation just starting out with their new design and have lots of expensive tooling and machinery they had to invest in to get their product to market? Again, then the increased price is more justified.

Right there is another reason for much of the market being GLOCK-alikes and AR clones: so many buyers want things that are cheap. I get that times are tough right now and I'm not trying to be critical of anyone for their spending habits, but when everyone expects to spend only $600 on a pistol or $1100 on a rifle then that doesn't foster an environment for innovation and new ideas.

anyone know of a better country for castle doctrine ? or jury laws ?

The state and county that the shooting happens in matters more than anything else. People are shot in righteous self-defense cases all the time and it never makes the news and the DA chooses not to press charges.

The best self-defense measure you can take is to not live in a shithole.

Insurance like CCW safe essentially guarantees you an attorney.

• No Caps: They offer unlimited criminal and civil defense costs, meaning they won't stop paying for your lawyer just because the bill hits a certain dollar amount.

• Expert Team: Their plans cover not just attorneys, but also investigators, expert witnesses, and forensic analysts.

• No "Clawback" Clause: Unlike some traditional insurance models, CCW Safe typically does not require you to pay them back if you are found guilty.

They’ll cover up to a million dollars for your bail.

In nearly every aspect of modern life the performative, collectivistic impulse to maintain the status quo - the Boomer - has been kind of eliminated. It's still going strong in the gun world. If cops or the military are doing it, it MUST BE the best way to do it. And since it's the best way, anything else shouldn't be considered. The advice of geriatric firearms experts who wrote books 50 years ago just give advice from corporate marketing teams and more or less still inform the mainstream opinion of how to navigate self defense. you're pretty much swimming uphill on any gun forum or /k/ if you say you carry a vest gun because 'bro why not just get a glock 19 instead and appendix carry.'

these people deserved to get murked by a 38 super 1911 with virgin mary gun grips

carry a vest gun

Now that’s some old school fuddery.

My dad has been needling me over my M/70 supergrade because "da wood will warp! blue steel rusts! .30-06 drops like a rock! 6.5 prick is the only viable bullet!"

no, i'm talking even older. 19th century penny farthing bicycle shit. i definitely didn't confuse the word 'coat' for 'vest' because i was thinking of the 1908 vest pocket, the vest gun is the most ideal and precocious weapon to protect onesself from vicious dogs and niggers and the like.

The future is now old man! I preordered something called a “gyro jet” after reading an article from Scientific American. I can’t wait to drive around with it in my Ford Nucleon.

1. don't live in a shithole or around shitholes (I'm in STL... this one isn't easy)
2. if you see someone being retarded or aggressive avoid them and walk away (prime example, someone tried to speed around me recently but got cut off and blamed me, they started following me in their car, do you think I stopped to confront them?). Don't argue with people in public about stupid shit, literally just turn around and leave, they are literal goy cattle, who gives a fuck what they think/do (avoid nigger moments).
3. Don't try to be a hero/john wick. Having a gun doesn't make you a hero, don't act like it does. (realistically if you do end up shooting someone/something it's likely going to be a crackhead who lost it or an injured animal on the side of the road.. very heroic)
4. If you can record a video in any way, do it. it may be the only thing that gets you off.

I don't like all the metagaming about CCWing, and I hate mossad ayoob but his advice "if you aren't sure it will be a clean shoot, don't shoot" is pretty good advice that will keep most people out of doing something retarded. Not that you really have time to thing about that when getting chased by a crackehead, but idk.

This really depends on the micro-political climate you live in and the details of the shooting. There are some cut and dry self defense shooting cases where the shooter is barely detained. Hell you have police chiefs giving shoutouts sometimes.
This is something to consider..... which is why i carry faggot guns exclusively

I used to live in libshit retard area, a guy shot a teen in a shiesty at 2 AM after exiting a bar, the teen was running up on him. The PD didn't press charges, you legally can run up on people in a shiesty at 2AM, but if someone reasonably fears for their life ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oopsie you might get popped.
But There have been guys in Cali who've shot people running into their homes with machetes and they get everything confiscated source
again, don't live in a shithole is the best advice.
Insurance like CCW safe
I'm wary of all of these CCW insurance places, they all seem like a scam/great way to burn a few hundred bucks a year.

19th century bolt actions look like five feet long.
They are not "like 5th long". They are literally over 5ft.

It's even more pronounced because people were shorter back then. Some of the photos are comical, when the rifles are longer than men when they have bayonets attached.

In this photo, you have a Finnish White Guard soldier with an M1891 Mosin, and on the right a German soldier with Gewehr 98. Mosin with a bayonet is 1738mm (5ft7), G98 is 1610mm (5ft3).

The thing about self defense with a gun ks you basically need to commit to also knowing the letter of the law for your home area and also to keeping a lawyer on speed dial
"But sonny I bought this Olympic OA-93 'fore all that fancy state Assault Weapons Ban or whatever it's called. I'm an upstanding good man they won't prosecute me for the 90rd drums when i give them a good handshake to show them my good character!"

I just found a deal today for a thousand rounds of Fiocchi .223 bullets for .40 cpr total. No tax and shipping on the order!

was that a remnant of the black powder era? or more influenced by the continued insistence upon extreme long range volleyfire?
now for long ass shotguns...

"I have a Remington model 870, assuming it was for turkey shoots. Barrel is roughly 60 inches with a .635 choke"
and of course, the venerable Marlin Goose Gun...
