I've carried full-size pistols exclusively all the years I've been carrying concealed. Currently my two carry guns are a Dan Wesson Specialist (Govt. size 1911) and a Staccato P, but the first gun I ever bought specifically for carry was a Smith and Wesson Performance Center 627 V-Comp, big 8 shot N Frame .357 Mag with a 5" heavy diamond profile barrel and an interchangeable muzzle cap/compensator. All of my guns have been carried either OWB or in a shoulder holster, and I carry every day any time I am out of the house, including whenever I am at work. The size and weight of my carry guns have never bothered me and there has rarely ever been a time I've thought to myself "Y'know, I wish I was carrying a more compact pistol." I'm currently saving for a Coly Python Combat Elite because I want a revolver for carry again, and that will be the most compact carry gun I'll have ever owned once I have it. I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone go on the "You'll get tired of carrying a big gun and will stop carrying." lecture from people, and it just hasn't been the case for me. You just get used to it.
