Rarely worth the entry cost unless you go through huge quantities of ammo or do precision shooting since components are so expensive and there is a significant time and space investment involved
It is absolutely worth it for any rifle round or pistol round not named 9x19. For the same amount of money you’ll shoot a shit ton more. For $700 you can get a Dillon progressive capable of making hundreds of rounds an hour, for a basic setup you can get into reloading for less than $100

Any serious competition shooter or hunter loads his own ammunition, unless they are actually wealthy.

Gun stores don’t have stock because the boomers have died off and younger reloaded like myself but online at distributors. The local stores always scam you with retarded high prices. Boomers think there is a shortage but everything is available online in bulk for good prices, and sales are common.

If you've got the means to reload other pistol calibers, 9mm is edging on making sense too these days

Other brands of progressive press like Lee are also viable while costing a lot less.

Don't buy those Lee loaders btw, unless you're absolutely DESTITUTE and have literally no other option it's much more worthwhile to set aside a little extra money and space to get a single stage press.

Weigh down the plunger thingy with a fishing weight or something
The plunger part works perfectly fine with just a little bit of oil, the part that causes issues is the primer tray and chute sometimes jam up and don't feed a primer into the slider mechanism. Just tapping it shakes up the primers and causes them to fall like they should, but I don't always immediately notice when it stops feeding. There are ways you can attach a vibrating motor to cause the primers to always shake out but I just haven't messed around with that yet.

Guys if you are buying a gun for serious reasons you should buy a serious gun. Chrome lined AR-15 starts at about $1200 and if it shows up fucked up you've got every right to be mad.

My $300 Maverick 88 will ruin my night when I have to clean chunks of nigger off my wall and floor for the rest of the week just as well as a Colt M5 will.

Not everyone can afford spending $1500 on a Colt product to sit beside their bed. There are better and more affordable options out there. Once you’ve bought the rifle, enough ammunition to practice with, the magazines, the sight, the weapon light, all of them ‘serious’ quality for your ‘serious’ rifle, you’re looking at LEAST $2,500. About 50% of US households feel financially strained (yes, everyone spends money on dumb shit) and telling people interested in protecting themselves at home that they’re not being ‘serious’ about protecting themselves unless they drop $2,500 is autistic.

A $300 shotgun from a reputable company that has a good light and a bead sight on it is 10000000% fine for ‘serious’ shit. Same for a lot of PSA’s more affordable ARs. I’m way more terrified of the retard who buys a cheap ass shotgun and runs a box of birdshot through it every weekend that I am the guy who keeps his Colt mothballed behind his bed because Garand Thumb said he’d never breed no bitches unless he bought a go to war rifle to keep himself safe.

Maverick 88
Is a serious gun and an excellent choice generally. There are better but you can do faaaaar worse. Do not mistake the message here, you can blow your money on any number of retarded special snowflake ARs and accessories or retarded guns generally.

At the same time....

Shotguns are for the people who leave the gun in the closet and don't shoot regularly. It's the niche they fill, dummy proof and effective with minimum training.

No one who is out shooting regularly and doing drills is doing it with a PSA or BearCreek or whatever. They are using decent guns because a regular shooting schedule is facilitated by decent guns.

Over the course of a year you can, I promise, save $2500. Snort a teenth less crack or skip one vidjahgame skin a month or whatever poor people are otherwise doing.

My first AR was a Savage MSR-15 and I was able to afford it with a sling and Bushnells LPVO after about 6 months as a broke ass highschool educated bachelor working a security job.

Your gear shouldn't limit your capability, it should drive it. Very silly to settle for "good enough" when what it takes to achieve mastery demands a certain standard of material and quality.

Like the other kiwi pointed out, you can be thrifty and still hit the major points for quality.

Side note: Every take I've ever seen that is accompanied by grotesque descriptions of blasting away niggers has been a bad one. If the height of your ambition in this hobby is just out shooting a troglodyte it's hard to take you seriously.

If you don't want to mess with a motor there's a simple 3d printable replacement chute that shakes the tray with each cycle of the press.

Lee progressive and turret presses are perfectly serviceable but they really should come with a printout listing the latest community mods.

at least in my case, i don't shoot it enough to justify. I'll buy 1k rounds once a year.

I didn't have work in getting the lee to be consistent. after struggling with it for a few weeks I just bought the Dillon 550 (which has been great)

I agree, those are dog shit. You can get single stages used for cheap on ebay and flea markets pretty easily. My single stage is a RCBS is a OG rock chucker. I paid next to nothing for it. I use it for rifle mostly.

it may be forgotten here that the majority of gunhavers aren't tier one operators that punch smiley faces into post it notes at the distance of half of a kilometer while stoic as a buckingham guard. in a perfect world, that's where we all would be.

Speak for yourself, some of us LARP for a living

One time I did recon at the local mickey Ds with my jeep, after I parked my jeep on the parking barrier I had some crack head approach me. Something about "you hit my vehicle" or whatever Ebonics he was speaking. I pulled out my 3in 300blkout ARP with a Omega 300 DT and opened up. He seemed confused and unharmed as I exfiled to another mcdonalds down the street as the one I originally checked in wouldn't serve me.

I nearly lost my life that day.

Could not agree more. Reloading anymore is about being able to not only tailor your ammo to your liking or to the needs of a particular pistol, it also enables one to shoot a whole lot more. Evaluate your time value carefully before you invest in the equipment and supplies, though.

Moving on.

Remember this ol' bitch?

I took her to a gunsmith after buying some parts from Power Custom and her cylinder lockup is now superior to even when I first got her. It's not "bank vault tight" but then it's not a Korth or the like. Still don't particularly like revolvers.

Then because I'm a boomer faggot with a little bit of spending money I got this a Cerakote application again so it's more purple and less plum. I like it.

The Shield X does just fine with Apex fire control parts, FYI. I like this pistol quite a bit now. I carry only it when I'm by myself, cycling, rucking, or simply dressing light.

Finally, there's this one. I changed out the trigger shoe and the sights. The factory sights are not very good. Mine definitely came installed off-center. The newer trigger shoe is alright. This is a decent pocket pistol for its price. One should remember that these were not designed to be high quality, tuned guns. It is picky as fuck about hollow points so I'll probably run ball only in it. As I said before, it's a gun to carry when I'm "not carrying a gun." Either I punch a few small holes in someone real close or I use it to make noise and fucking run. Still need to decide on which pocket holster to get for it.

Every time I get the revolver itch I end up hating what I buy. First I got an sp101, that thing was cool but the takedown lever under the grip would come out after 3 shots, and wasn't fun to shoot. Then I bought a new colt combat 3 inch, that thing was cool and fun to shoot but weighs so much I never carried it.

What do gunkiwi? 686?

I was wondering what the fuck everyone was raving about reloading because last I looked into it the savings were barely there and doing it at scale takes up a ton of time.

But I'll be... it seems things have vastly improved from a few years ago and materials are available. Grok is telling me it's normal to even save $0.15 a round on 9mm.

Nice! Maybe it's enough to get me to stop buying turkshit steel case for training. Idk if I've got time to commit to it though.
