the only thing i can really equate it to might be DID although i hesitate on that comparison because dopplegangers dont follow the criteria for it... but it might help ppl understand what MIGHT be happening?? indulge me for a second

in DID, theres a host (the person who is normally out and usually does all of the daily stuff) and the other ""personalities"" (alters) kind of exist in the headspace and can sometimes come 'out' (called 'fronting')

quill and amdusias' dopplegangers seem to exist physically (since amdusias killed hers?) yet have connection to the 'host' through some sort of headspace (they can communicate with each other mentally). maybe the doppleganger hangs out in that weird fuckin angel world or whatever while the other doppleganger is the host

ALTERNATIVELY they don't actually physically exist and dopplegangers can switch with their Other part like alters might switch to front

either way it makes no fucking sense until glip actually shows whats going on but they probably wont because they never finish anything
