I do know that Euronymous claimed to be a communist, more specifically one that admired Stalin and Pol Pot. While there is no shortage of musicians considering themselves to be far-left, they tend to be more of the Lenin or Trotsky types. Preferring Stalin and Pol freakin' Pot is just pure edgelording.

Well it's probably because black metal is a colossal sausage fest. Other than Astarte, I can't think of a single black metal band that has women in it.

In fact, the only woman ever to come nigh to involvement in TRUE AND HONEST Norwegian black metal was in this bucket of prime lolmilk:

The best bit of this is the bored looking blonde girl. You can just tell she's thinking, "five years at RADA, and I'm the virgin sacrifice in an autismal black metal video."

I'm pretty sure Ishaan of Emperor's wife had her own black metal/avant grade group.

I actually know of four black metal bands with women in them off the top of my head, but yeah, like most metal genres, it's overwhelmingly dudes. Chthonic's bass player is a woman, Gallhammer is all women, there was that solo black metal album made by that woman who was once in an indie rock band mentioned a few pages back, and I know I've seen one more but I can't remember who it is. It may have even been Astarte.

EDIT: Or maybe indie-turned-black-metal lady was a different thread.
 
Shit I'd forgotten about Gallhammer. I had a real black metal phase in 2006-7 but moved into thrash and then back into power metal... which is just as ridiculous as black metal in its own way, with wandering around Italy in a big shirt trying to get laid as opposed to wandering around Norway in leather trousers trying to get laid.

I like this, I like it a lot. Nice buzzsaw riffs and it doesn't have the stupid necro production.

Of course, this means it's neither TRVE nor KVLT and may even be faggoth but anyone who describes something as "faggoth" and expects to be taken seriously deserves to be disembowelled with a spatula.

EDIT: According to Encyclopedia Metallum, they're originally from Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan. Well that was unexpected if I'm honest. But cool though. Central Asian mythology and folklore I know very little about.

I honestly like black metal from around the world, rather than just Norway or the US. Much like this band, I like bands that tell about other cultures rather than straight satanism.
I do find it ironic that NSBM exists, but there's black metal from around the world, practiced by ethnicities of all kinds.
 
Honestly, the only sort of 'elitism' in metal I despise is when people continually hang onto four or five entry-level bands (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera, Megadeath, so on so forth.) and just stick to them while calling themselves a metalhead. Yeah, yeah, metal is the bestest and metal instrumentalists have the most talent ever, but if you're going to talk so much game about metal, you might as well take the time to really involve yourself instead of listening to the hit songs of some of the most accessible and palatable metal groups out there. Y'know, take the time to learn about and appreciate the music genre you're so engrossed in.

But, nope!

If it's too slow, it's boring. If it's too fast, it's unlistenable. If they scream, it's no talent, whiny metal. If they growl, it's no talent, 'genuinely evil' metal (real metal is positive, life affirming, and NO WE DON'T BURN CHURCHES MOM), if it has some choir or chanting, it's goth bullshit, if it has no guitar solo, the guitarist is obviously shit, if the production is clear, if the production is raw, if the lyrics are too serious, too corny, too pretentious...

Yeah, no, I'm not bitter at all. If I could rate myself powerlevel I would.

As someone who enjoys both "true metal" bands (Classic stuff, Metallica, Pantera, Iron Maiden, and "respected" bands like Dethklok, Dream Theater to name a few), Power/Neoclassical/Whatever Metal (Stratovarius, Rhapsody, Heavenly, Dragonforce, Versailles, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Romeo, etc) and "fake metal!!!!1111!!!!ONEONEONEONE!!!" bands (Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium, Atreyu, Slipknot, etc) I have to say metal elitism is pure bullshit. Elitists barely have any arguments at all other than saying "X band is emo" "X band fans are angry teens" and a huge variety of ad hominem arguments. And it doesn't exist only in metal. Jazz fans can be pretty elitist as well, saying smooth jazz and acid jazz are not TRUE and HONEST jazz. Same goes with Classical Music fans who say shit about any genre of music that is not Classical, or about atonalist composers. There's even folk music elitists in my country saying how a lot of newly formed folk bands are not folk at all. So yeah, it's not only happening in metal.

To be fair, there's a point in saying that Acid Jazz isn't 'true and honest' jazz, due to most of it just being funk, soul, or even hip-hop with jazz influences. Sampling Miles doesn't make you a jazz artist, and that's most certainly not dissing any Acid Jazz, it's just that a lot of groups that were previously described as Acid-Jazz just... Don't do much jazz in their work.

Smooth Jazz has more to do with Kenny G making one big fuckup, and the genre of smooth jazz becoming the arguable face of modern jazz while the focus of Smooth Jazz is on being music you don't have to focus on. That's pretty damn degrading, and usually Jazz is the most accepting of weirdo spinoff genres. There was a bit of an uproar when the PBS documentary 'Jazz' focused mostly on the Dixieland style of jazz, and furthermore mostly on Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong, while treating such apparent sins as modal jazz, avant-garde jazz, and Miles Davis' solo work as a dark period.
