Supposedly he had the idea for Metal Gear while playing hide-and-seek with his son. Whether that's confirmed or just something that gets passed around as fact idk

Maybe, but I'm quite sure the stealth gameplay was mainly the result of the technical limitations of the MSX, not being able to draw lots of sprites on the screen at the same time.

I remember somewhere talking about how Kojima was tasked initially to port Contra to MSX, and he gave a better idea 'cus for those hardware limitations you mentioned.
Just with MSX2 they finally ported the first one, but Metal Gear was published into MSX1.
The only time I ever saw Kojima talk about his kid was in a magazine interview before MGS2 came out, and he basically said he likes Pokemon and was too young for his games I think. (which is funny, because I was probably 11 or 12 when I read that)
Considering that would have been like 25 years ago, I assume that Kojimas kids did not get involved in games.
I like to imagine he did the high expectations Asian parent thing with them but for acting. He would sooner commit seppuku than let them get involved in videogames.

I remember rumors of Jack's arguments with Rose in MGS2 being based on actual fights Kojima had with his wife at the time but I can't find any concrete evidence of that.
The reason is because Kojima didnt come up with him until mgs1 so him being an important character in 3 and V then dipping for both mg1 and 2 raises a lot of questions.
They probably only kept it in because they didnt want sahelanthropus hanging around players mother bases and the save the kids side ops were implemented, especially after having Miller (or ocelot i forget) mention how the weight is causing problems
Basically he intentionally left the game unfinished out of spite and was wasting as much of their time and money as he could get away with since they were clearly planning on firing him anyway.
Yeah this is a retarded theory, not denying Kojima might have inflated development time a bit with some stupid ideas but the results are not purely his own fault. I think Konami just wanted out of the video game development scene to focus on their pachinko machines and had to deal with the fact not only was mgsv still in development but said development involved the creation of the fox engine which a lot of Konami/Kojipro devs assumed would be seeing many years of use across multiple titles not just a single actual title, a demo and soccer games so they had to start canning and shutting things down without warning resulting in the game we got.
Also the whole removing Kojima's name from mgsv marketing did not look good for them
I actually learned yesterday that Kojima didn't actually "leave" Konami until like a month after the game shipped.
I literally thought he left when they took his name off the cover like 6 months before the game launched. Turns out they just told him to shut the fuck up and work lmao
I did not ask, good sir.
If you enjoy the thrilling experience of simulating being an Amazon Delivery Driver then more power to you, I however found it dreadfully boring and couldn't bring myself to finish the game.
I genuinely wonder what the fuck Physint (Or whatever fucking title Kojumbo gave.) is going to be since according to him it's going to be something closer to what his fans want, AKA like Metal Gear but we haven't heard a single peep about it since he mentioned it in that interview awhile back.
Context from what I remember: Kojima apparently had a health scare or something a few years ago and that for some reason motivated him to listen to his fans more I guess?
I see MGS4 is coming to PC remastered. I saw that shit scrolling down on my phone as a youtube ad and was like "wait wtf" lol. My favorite MGS so I'm excited. I hope its as good as I remember it, I tried to use PCPS3 or whatever the fuck the emulator was but never was able to get it to work.

Not gonna deny death stranding has a massive gameplay hurdle cause it does, especially coming off of mgsv that i understand completely why you and many others dropped it.

I've floated this idea before but I won't type it all out again. The Boss' story would start with the Chief. WW2, the chief is native american with all the native american ways kojumbo could come up with, they all use horses instead of vehicles to move behind enemy lines in europe and that kind of stuff to make it a sneaking mission. She supersedes the chief by innovating on it/finish where he failed and becomes the Boss - moving up in the rankings in a world where major, general and colonel can't be used as titles for the position.
Fairly certain it is paywalled, again retarded because the original DL was free and a part of the hype train for MGS4 back in the day. And perhaps it is extra retarded to ask but..... what are they gonna do with MGS4's multiplayer? Guessing it won't be done at all and the port will be bottom of the barrel. Konami wouldn't save such a cool and unique online component even though fans would be over the moon for it...
