Metal Gear

those kind of schizo theories still exist, like the one that tries to state that Venom Snake's real identity is Frank Jaeger / Gray Fox. The evidence? Well, both are Big Boss's right hand man, and uh. Both guys hit a similar pose in some art.
Yep. That's it.
You’re right but the 2015 pre-release insanity was on a completely new level that I don’t see it happening again.
By the way, one of the biggest schizos out there was a YouTube channel named PythonSelkan who prior to TPP release made all sorts of theories you can imagine yet all were false except for one where he called it right you’re not playing as Big Boss yet he was so high he completely derailed himself away from the big reveal.

Now that I mentioned him I had to check what he’s up to if active at all and …… CRINNNNNNNNNNNNNNGE
He’s still on this shit! Like what there to fucking discuss? Maybe if Konami announced a brand new MGS6 or something this would be his time to shine
But no, he’s still making videos about GZ and TPP like what the fuck

At least the series is still alive and well to justify his uploads. Unlike that one channel who was so obsessed over editing videos about P.T. and nothing else. Like what a waste

Oh this is fantastic news! Cant wait to see what people will find.

I recently finished another Big Boss run on MGS4; it must be my 5th or 6th by now. I never had the itch with the others but 4 really has THAT gameplay that I really like messing with for speedrun purposes. Sometimes I just get on it and do a No Kills, sometimes its a "all kills" run. I feel 4 really nailed its gameplay. Shoutout Raging Raven

I for a while considered starting a BB run until the Collection 2 rumors started so I put it on hold until then. Generally speaking, what are you tips / recommendations for this rank ?

MGSV TPP is not unfinished.
It is, but the extent to which it is unfinished is greatly overblown. The game is 100% unfinished (return to Camp Omega, Episode 51, Battle Gear, etc.) but not to where there's a whole other game Konami robbed us of. Had development continued it would've released as mostly the same game, just slightly more "complete".

Their problem was targeting PS3 and Xbox 360 initially and then refusing to cancel those versions when development dragged on. Designing an open world for those last gen machines really hampered what the experience could've been, hence why in the final game outside of the outposts there's literally fucking nothing, and why Mother Base takes so long to travel between platforms with those long ass roads. In a perfect world, MGSV would've been made for PS4/Xbox One/PC from the outset, and they would've been able to create a truly next-gen experience. As it stands I still find MGSV to be technically impressive even over a decade later.

A lot of MGS2, particularly the Tanker chapter, is tech demo wankery. I think DigitalFoundry did a deep dive some time back and showed that you can knock ice out of a bucket and watch them melt in real time. Just random little details I think they had fun making in order to sell the realism of the environment.
T'wasn't Digital Faggotry, but Rerez.

Maybe this will push me over the edge to try mgs2. It's the one game other than 4 which I've not liked and not heard good things about, both being very spectacle and story focused from what people say. But this reminds me of the DNF leak in 21 22 which sorta revived the Duke nukem scene for a bit. Idk I really liked V and snake eater cause of the systems n shit, I really don't know if I should go ahead and play 2. Please like comment and subscribe, let me know if I should play mgs2, join the discord.

I was actually going for this "final" BB run on original PS3 hardware so that I could do a once-and-for-all BB run on Volume 2 when it comes out; its probably going to be the last time in a long while that I'll play MGS4 so I feel its good closure.

My tips for BB Rank would be, first of all, to absolutely abuse the fuck out of the non lethal MK.2 handgun, both in a fresh start or if you're already in a couple of playthrough and stocked on Drebin Points. You probably already know this but theres no bullet drop in this game as in its only simulated by each weapon's range stat. So, headshot or pelt guards constantly; if you dont miss and hit a wall or an object nearby they wont be alerted of enemy fire.

Theres few sections in MGS4 that really cant be solved by knocking out guards (even armored ones in Act 2) with that workhorse but try to get used to how the somewhat unique way the aiming works in this game (the bullets dont come out of the reticle itself like in so many third person games but from the actual guns so the camera can "get in the way"), and try to get both the M870 shotgun and sawed off shotgun, and plenty of stun grenades; they'll be a key factor for the motorcycle section in Act 3 (this is legit the hardest part of the game to Big Boss Run because you must not kill a single human enemy but you also cant let them get too many hits on you so you MUST anticipate their groups by throwing your infinite supply of stun grenades and hit them with tranqs before you're close to them). Also, quickly activate-deactivate Auto Aim! This saves a lot of time during this part. Also also, you can either remove the coat and return to sneaking suit or equip one of the B&B masks to make the walk through Act 3 easier.

The B&B bosses can be "killed" in their first phase but you'll need to non lethal them in the second. Just keep throwing stun grenades at their feet. Remember to save after every successful section/checkpoint if it doesnt bother you too much to go through the dialogue too frequently. Next, the time limit may seem impossibly strict but you can permit yourself to wait for guards to turn around and heal by resting without too much problems through the entire game. Oh and the Alerts from the Gekko sections in the prologue and end of Act 2 wont count, but watch it because they're almost always one hit kills if they get you with their leg sweep at this difficulty. Lastly, the Mosin-Nagant and the MK II robot are tempting but the guards' hearing is improved in this difficulty and the former can get you in trouble (however its useful during the militia/PMC battle at the generators in the middle of Act 2), and sometimes MK II gets caught in rubble/objects and can disrupt the guards's patrol route. And! Chaff grenades completely cancel the Dwarf Gekkos as a threat for their duration, making Act 4 much easier.

Good luck, brother. :punished:

I don't know if adding New York levels would improve the game. The plot already unraveled itself by that point and the extra gameplay would probably ruin the pacing leading up to the finale.

It'd just be a cutscene. Something between the pre- and post-crash overhead views of New York (the stuff I posted earlier in the thread, presumably). The very next level in the files is the Solidus boss fight, and then the finale is after that, another cutscene.

The direction it's going is also not that great either. Not for a metal gear game. I think he just wanted to make a movie again.
"Peace Walker is a lot of repetitive goal missions!" It was on a PSP and still didn't drag on as much. It also had co-op packaged into it!
Ironically Ground Zero's kicks ass, I love all the different missions you can do and the scripting of the soldiers is great, it's a shame it was A: Cut from the game and sold as a separate one and B: Not the standard for MGS V missions.

For MGS2 fans, source code based on the PSVITA port got leaked on 4chan's /vr/ board

In a better world the original MGS2 should already be public domain and free to mod and use as anyone desires. The HD version in another year or so would be fair although I'm willing to compromise a few more years. Screw these greedy corps getting the right to sic the cops people for a century.

Bookmarked for August, thank you very much for the detailed post:semperfidelis:

Ofc the reason I asked because in Snake Eater it had some fuckary when it comes to non-lethal run - no idea if it’s the same with Delta -.
  1. The bike section where you escape the Shagohod: as long as you use the tranquilzer gun / rifle you should fine. It doesn’t matter if the enemy ate dirt and broke their necks because of the fall.
  2. On the contrary when you escort that cunt Eva. Her killing soldiers with her revolver WILL count as yours which is absolute dogshit, imagine you got that far then a surprise is waiting for you: 3 kills in your counter. The only solution to that is to drug that bitch until she gets a kidney failure and drag her ass until the end. The only downside here is you will hear her mumbling about her getting scissored by Boss or some cringe shit.

This is why I honestly find Ground Zeroes to be a more fun replay experience than a good amount of missions in V. It's quite convenient that I can just replay GZ inside of V now too.
