Bookmarked for August, thank you very much for the detailed post:semperfidelis:

Ofc the reason I asked because in Snake Eater it had some fuckary when it comes to non-lethal run - no idea if it’s the same with Delta -.
  1. The bike section where you escape the Shagohod: as long as you use the tranquilzer gun / rifle you should fine. It doesn’t matter if the enemy ate dirt and broke their necks because of the fall.
  2. On the contrary when you escort that cunt Eva. Her killing soldiers with her revolver WILL count as yours which is absolute dogshit, imagine you got that far then a surprise is waiting for you: 3 kills in your counter. The only solution to that is to drug that bitch until she gets a kidney failure and drag her ass until the end. The only downside here is you will hear her mumbling about her getting scissored by Boss or some cringe shit.
IIRC you can get BB on a new game plus run, so completing a previous run where you stockpile full ammo for all tranq guns as well as the alternative ammos for the pistol is a good idea. The special sunlight gun also doesn't affect rating, is non lethal and has infinite ammo, though I don't recall needing it. I basically just followed a video of someone else getting it, I think they also had captions explaining trickiness in some parts.

This is all from memory and occured more than a decade ago, so I could be wrong. I remember the bike chase and the flying B&B boss being the worst parts before the final Ocelot fight. He has some serious Mortal Kombat final boss energy on Extreme mode, took me a couple of days of rage quitting and returning to finally beat him.

Of course I did all this before trophies were implemented, and then lost the save file.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes of the source code leak for MGS2.

. It's probably the single most anti-israel piece of fiction that can exist without just explicitly writing out "these guys shouldn't have a country"
Nigga what lmao.

People who read Kojima’s work like it’s a multi generational art that has deep political themes are fucking midwits.

Kojimas entire existence is an autists “rule of cool”.
Is it cool? Then he put it in his game.

It is that simple.

Any political undertones or deep philosophical questions brought up are almost 100% because he got that from a movie he watched. All the metal gear solid games are like a tree where depending on which rings you count, you can pretty much tell what movies were taken inspiration stolen from.

I mean he litteraly traced stills from movies in his original games.

I dunno, the whole theme of AI being developed to control the flow of information and the idea of the Internet age creating so much information that it's all diluted and effectively useless is a pretty groundbreaking idea for 2002, and not one I've seen in any other piece of fiction (though I could just be ignorant on that).

The other entries are certainly way more derivative, especially MGS3 but it was so good at it that it didn't matter, it was still brilliant. MGS1 had the benefit of being a technological showcase more than anything, games didn't look like that before MGS1.

MGS2 is unironically the most creative entry (Also the most batshit)

You are ignorant on that. This film is foundational for ongoing conspiracies that have simply changed context. It may not be aliens but you can use most occultists obsessed with power to stand in for them.

MGS2 is a great game but it is by no means the revolutionary story it's cracked up to be by autistics like Max Derrat who couldn't even figure out where the Metal Gear Ray boss fight(s) take place, which is just on top of Arsenal Gear skimming the ocean like a submarine before the crash in NYC that was cut.

This fight started out cool and ended as a slog. Fighting infinite MG Rays with a stinger is not as fun as I think the scenario designers thought it was.

Fuck MGS2's BB rank. It is some of the most arbitrary bullshit I have ever seen in a game, besides shit like Halo 2 Legendary (sniper jackals raping you) and COD World at War Veteran (Nazis and Japanese alike raping you with grenades).

where the Metal Gear Ray boss fight(s) take place
well sweaty if you read we're ackshually in arsenal gear's rectum
This is literally the guy propagating that Venom Snake is Gray Fox. I forgot his name but this post woke me up like a fucking sleeper agent, the videos on it shouldn't even be that old haha, probably from a year ago not even
The videos shouldn't be that old? My brother in christ this guy has been claiming either Ishmael or Venom Snake is Gray Fox since the reveal of the game back in 2013. His schizoposting about crack conspiracy theories and 4000D interdimensional chess played by genius kojumbo is legendary.

It does not have infinite ammo. You recharge it by holding it up to the sun. This is fine in Chapters 1 and 2, where the environments are very sunny, but you're basically out of ammo if you use it up during Chapters 3, 4 and, I think, 5 if you use it inside Outer Haven itself. Although, I think you can glitch it to reload in those sections where you don't have direct sunlight

And, from what I remember, you're not given infinite ammo for the sunlight gun during the bike sections

It's still very useful because you can take out Vamp in one hit with it (because he's a vampire, har har!)

are you seriously this triggered because i'm pointing out a video game's storyline at face value to annoy a jew

I too thought it was extremely weird that those soldiers could be tranq'd but it didnt count as a kill even though they would crash into a freaking ball of fire. I remember being so pissed when I tried my first no kill run and realized that Eva had counted agiasnt me when she had shot someone. Luckily I'm a paranoid bitch and had an earlier save. During my reload I tranq'd the bitch and dragged her through that section.

The only good parts of MGS4 was wattching Kojima fail in trying to resolve happened in MGS2 in-universe, Mt. Snakemore, and realizing Kojima regretted he killed Liquid off so early with that final fist fight.

That game still pisses me off to this day.

Someone once told me that MGS4 is supposed to be "MGS9" and well past the golden age. Kojima wanted to stop MGS after MGS3, so ge decided to make a game full of plot points already resolved and "Remember this character? Now they are old!" What he did to the relationship of Meryl and Snake still baffles me.

Even doe we're clearly above early morning ocean water before we get to NYC, and the big shell being in the middle of the fucking ocean. I will believe we are sitting on a part of the gear that is surfaced. Rays can walk on water anyway I think. Could be a VR trip, but why add the ocean if it was?

i haven't even played msg is it good
If you play them, do so in release order.
MGS - Great but obviously dated, but still holds up if you have a good attention span. There's the GameCube remake, Twin Snakes, but the gameplay messes up the flow and the acting choreography doesn't fit the story setting.
MGS2 - the series bumps up above 80s action thriller writing. Gameplay is a lot smoother. Raiden is the newest tragic playable character, and a good one.
MGS3 - Easily the magnum opus. Great James Bond influenced cold war espionage story. Camera fix and features like camo make playing and replaying a blast
MGS4 - I still like it as a final send off, but

Still fun to play and a decent enough story.
MGS Peace Walker - HD version gameplay is good, and the story is serviceable enough. Not necessarily a needed title, but the multiplayer and MB system were fun.
MGR:R - You can probably play this game at any time. It's a great hack and slash. Tons of meme-worthy moments.
I'm not gonna talk much about Ground Zeroes or V beyond that the gameplay is really good, but story and open world are lacking.
