This is semi related but for Smash 4 they announced online maintenance time on August 31st at the same times they released former dlc for instead of the time frame where they released just balance patches. There's also the matter that it's the day before Phantom Pain. Snake confirmed?

So Kojima talked a little bit about the design inspiration for Sahelanthropus on Twitter

Considering all the stuff about language in the E3 2015 trailer (Skull Face talking about how his language was taken from him and the control systems using language, Code Talker and Zero talking about language being the uniting force behind civilizations) the fact that the new Metal Gear is based off an evolved form that has the necessary conditions to develop language probably isn't a coincidence.

EDIT: Also the bit about the larger cerebrum is interesting. Wasn't the Mammal Pod in Peace Walker supposed to emulate higher cerebral function?

Watched more of the leaked stream. I won't drop any spoilers but I can confirm that at least one of the leaks is false. This gives me some amount of hope.

If it's the one that I think it is, then holy fuck what a relief that this didn't turn into some bad fanfiction.

You know, I can't do this. I can't withhold information. Better to be disappointed now than later. Red means I've seen it with my own eyes.
  • I'm seeing a serious lack of Co-Op. This is disappointing to me because I paid attention expecting PW2. However, no one was able to get online since the servers aren't ready so who knows.
  • You can't even fire any recruits. I have no idea what happens if you hit capacity.
  • You can swap out Snake with any of your recruits. On a positive note, unlike PW they have unique faces (as far as I've seen).
  • Fears of the paywall may have truth in them.
  • Chapter 2 is said to be a rehash of the first chapter meaning repeated missions. This was acceptable on the PSP but in an open world game? Come on.
  • That fucking Konami ID that nobody liked might make a return.
  • Something about a Day 1 patch. Nobody knows what it is yet people got suspicious when Yong-Yea's video disappeared when he brought it up in an interview.
  • There is a serious lack of interior spaces. Your missions will mostly be set in the wilderness.
  • For something positive, adaptational difficulty is neat. If you do too many successful headshots, enemies will start to wear helmets. It was hilarious seeing the streamer getting fucked over when he was ambushed by a soldier wearing a helmet.
  • You can create an avatar in the opening. Nobody knows what happens to the avatar or what it will be used for (most likely MGO).
  • The fucking language parasites is real. There were characters discussing about how it works and each strain effects the language spoken and seriously discuss how even though Spanish and Portuguese are similar, a Spanish strain will learn the difference to only effect Spanish speakers.
  • Quiet is basically The End. She uses photosynthesis and the reason why she's half-naked is because that's how she can breathe. She can absorb water through her skin but it has no ill effects on her. However, salt water will hurt her. I was hoping this was where the Neogaff leak was wrong but someone pointed out that leak sounded like someone was watching TPP and not understanding the context. I have no clue why we should be ashamed.
  • Kaz sperging about hamburgers.
  • A cutscene of Quiet and Snake dancing autistically in the rain. Jesus Christ, Kojima seriously hit rock bottom with this one. Say what you want about the dumbest scene in the entire series (whatever you think it was), nothing will ever compare to this. Does not help that it was blatant fanservice.
  • Volgin confirmed. Too bad it was a shitty cameo. Remember ever having trouble fighting him in MGS3? He dies in the most anticlimatic way possible.
  • Chico died before TPP. The one person who deserves to get revenge doesn't get to see the spotlight.
  • Paz is possibly a hallucination.
  • I didn't get to see this myself but apparently Skullface was the reason Big Boss was successful in Snake Eater. He hit Cobra Unit with sedatives. Big Boss did not defeat Cobra Unit because The Boss believed in him, it was because the lamest MGS villain (lamer than Coldman) drugged them up.
  • Skullface has the dumbest dialogue. It's so bad it's actually hilarious. I'll count that as a plus.
  • Damn, Eli is such a hardass. Almost redeeming. Almost.
  • You have to euthanize your soldiers in the ending because they became zombies. Dead fucking serious.
  • Remember in past games how you learn about Big Boss's relationship with the characters and their origin stories? Would that be interesting to see in the game? You can forget about them. No Grey Fox, no Naomi, no rescuing Sniper Wolf (her costume is available and maybe I got the timeline wrong) and no Vulcan Raven joining Outer Heaven. Surprisingly, you save a guy who is most likely Dr. Madnar but he doesn't even have an impacting role.
  • Still not sure what the taboo theme is suppose to be. I thought it was child soldiers but killing them is an instant game over and apparently you're saving them from combat.
  • Someone at neogaf was gloating about how right they were and are expecting /v/ tears once the game comes out. Alright, fine. You "win" Gaf. Doesn't change the fact your site is still garbage.
  • I will still get the game to see if the gameplay alone will be redeemable. I'm sort of close to cancelling my preorder, and if you feel the same, I don't blame you.

*sigh*(:_(:heart-empty: It's over.

Shit,I kinda knew most of these from the trailer.
Still gonna buy it and think it is one of the best games ever.
Mgs 3 and 2 were wacky and strange and I loved their autism

Meh...

I'll get it anyway. Let's be real though, MGS has always had a very bizarre and "out there" kind of setting, universe, story, etc. And really, that's what made me like it. It's just so...surreal.

Oh, yeah. And as for Sniper Wolf, I always kind of assumed Big Boss saved her during Desert Storm or shortly before.

I'll agree. I would never want MGS to be fully serious and too grounded in reality. I just really hate retcons that make past memorable actions meaningless. It's like finding out Rocky only won because his opponents were paid to throw the matches.

Anyone else avoiding all the spoilers? Ive done a pretty good job so far. My favorite MGS moments are the unexpected ones, can't let some spoilers ruin that.

Why did you play the MSX port and not one of the later re-releases?
Because it would be free through emulation? Now one would like to see @Jackie Chin try the sequel. There are some differences between the original MG2 and its re-release such as the portraits.

Walktroughs have already leaked, but konami is taking them down.
Hospital part is very, very sick, also epic major spoilers on the first 5 minutes
Quiet is sent to kill you,she was wearing a XOF suit without mask, she speaks and is burned and thrown out of the window by the bandaged man,

As far as I remember, some of the faces were references to actors such as Mel Gibson and the guy who played Rambo's colonel friend. Look at Big Boss in the game and tell me he doesn't look like Sean Connery.

I remember reading that Kojima based the portraits on celebrities and movie characters. Hell, he even admitted to blatantly ripping off a picture of Kyle Reese from Terminator for Solid Snake's appearance on the box art.
