I didn’t look at the psychic stuff but that doesn’t surprise me. The ‘cast’ is a good example of the problem as I see it: they were always going to be resisted and with some polish needed elsewhere it’s so tempting to exaggerate their malignancy.

A character will remind you every 10 minutes with hints or even exact directions in a large text box on where to go next if you haven't made progress, you can not turn this off.

Apparently the lead writer for this sloppa was also the lead writer for Paper Mario Star Sticker Story which is known to be the worst entry in that franchise.

This suit alone stomps on both nu suits from 4. And the last suit in 4 is trying So Damn Hard to be the Lightsuit from Prime 2, but it doesn't even come close. The best artists in the industry left Retro in 2007, never to return.

The game spent over a decade in development hell and changed hands and writers. There is no doubt in my mind that even if the game wasn't good it'd at least be closer to metroid (especially closer to the fucking hinted at sequel game at the end of the last one) than this rooster teeth 343 cali circlejerk sludge

Sticker star was the downfall of the paper mario games, and the start of the weird "every npc is now just a generic toad or mario enemy instead of a toad or mario enemy with a thing that shows them as their own guy. Some people claim super paper mario was the downfall due to it's weird gameplay gimmick of being a kinda meta platformer rpg but it still had the whole mario rpg DNA to how it's characters and worlds were written.

Around the time sticker star happened was also the time online narratives about toad's hat being his head sparked up and they played into that kinda despite everything before that being jokes about being a little round bald head under the massive hat.

It already's gotten that same general usage I'm already seeing fucking gifs captioned with "so... win?" being spammed some places in a similar way to the forespoken shit lmao

I recently saw/heard (whatever you call for witnessing someone say a thing while you weren't technically present but it's not a dedicated post anywhere long story) someone make a statement about them getting metroid 4 and a switch 2. basically it was along the lines of "I've been waiting for this thing for over a decade now so i might still get it but I'm not going to buy a switch 2 to buy metroid 4 if I do end up getting one because there's not that many games on it. If I do get a switch 2 I'm going to buy it to do something like play kirby air ride with my friends and coworkers." or something along those lines.

I already have a switch 2 I got on launch due to surprise gift type stuff, but I haven't set it up yet and I can't afford the games for it. I have mario kart world and haven't played it but I heard they patched out the picked 3 lap races or some bullshit and a lot of segments are too rng compared to previous mario karts. I'd get DK bonanza and kirby air ride over this thing even though I've been also waiting for this fucking thing to even come near release. My point is I can 100% understand the guy's statement. These games are too fucking expensive for me though and there wasnt even a black friday sale on them this year.

There's some capable tech dork types of characters that make sense going on the frontlines but yeah this guy isn't even a field agent going by his dialogue about cubicles and shit. Why the fuck does he have the armor the other guys have if he's not even from their fucking squad? Normally in a story like this when a character's like that it's because they're a rookie that literally just started and is in over their head, but this guy was a fucking office jobber which the space federation troopers apparently have now.

The green crystal collection is mandatory, they added a grind to metroid, you better be collecting all the green crystals in the desert
