This is all speculation, but I think they were gonna make Sylux into a male version of Samus. Someone (potentially even a relative or friend) who was on K2L with Samus as a kid and didn't get rescued by the Chozo, but instead got captured by the space pirates. A "bad egg" version of Samus to continue the bird references. This might have piggybacked on the original Metroid Dread project (the one teased in Prime 3) but then the name and hype of that game was co-opted by Sakamoto and Company. Instead of being infused with Chozo DNA and being made the scion of their lineage like Samus was, Sylux might have been experimented on by the space pirates and turned into a human weapon, one capable of interfacing with human systems and stealing GFed tech covertly. But Dread had ganked the "familial relation gone evil" plot by 2021 - so Sylux's original backstory might have been thrown out...
Sylux having some similar visual cues to the space pirates and the entire thing in metroid prime of the space pirates badly R&ding up attempts at copying samus' armor could really easily lead into this
SA-X had no personality and her AI was hilariously broken
Well I mean it IS a pretty much a kinda brainless animalistic parasite that hijacked a suit of armor and is poorly skinwalking a human form so it being janky kind of works in a lore sense.

So according to that cinematic, Sylux hates Samus and the Federation because they stole "his moment"? thats retarded.
"We have a great backstory written up for Sylux. There’s a lot of threaded storytelling in there, that made using the character in other games a good fit. I would love to tell you what’s going on under that suit…"

Pretty clear there was more planned than what we got in 4.
I remember back in the day, there was much speculation about him, especially since stuff like his Smash trophy were intentionally vague with not only his backstory but even his gender, leading some to assume he was either not human or also a woman like Samus

100% (that hilarious morph ball scan from Prime 1 comes to mind). The pirates also show they are capable of making humanoid cyborgs like Weavel. The K2L orphan backstory just makes too much sense to me as something the devs logically would have cooked up when thinking about how to make an interesting antagonist to Samus. Samus herself being an orphan means there would be a tragic element to it all, knowing how she could have turned out if the Chozo didn't save her. That also would have made for a nice subversion of the usual Metroid ending, instead of killing a monster or doppelganger and blowing up a planet - the final fight would be to get through to the human inside of Sylux, and potentially even saving him in the end. Instead of killing the final boss, Samus actually saves one. I don't know that just seems way fucking cooler than what we got with Prime 4 Sylux.

The idea of Retro pulling a Metroid-tier bait and switch with Sylux's gender also crossed my mind, and is a legitimately good idea considering the old Metroid booklet's called Samus a man until the big reveal.

I don't hate it and I feel like him being just an asshole could have worked if he was a better character all around, something he utterly fails at.

Here's my headcanon: sylux is a pooner and hates Samus because she didn't need to chop off her own tits to become strong may and independed, so he vent his frustration on her and trying to get even more power.

That wouldn't explain how the other X mimicking a scientist initiated self-destruction, what makes sense is for SA-X's mutated form to be a complete pushover, since it reflect the toad originally hosting the virus.

With everything put aside, do you think the game is actually amazing, the middest of the mid or the biggest piece of dogshit dumped in 2025?

The vibe I'm getting online is it's actually a very average 6/10 or 7/10 "Meh" game which is somehow even more hilarious than it being terrible.

In a world in which new games cost $70-80 a 6/10 isn't even close to being good enough.

Especially when the competition is AAs, Indies, and mod/fan projects that are a fraction of the price or straight up fucking free.

I didn't even bother taking screenshots of the others and my save file got overwritten when I beat the game so I can't get them now. They are all basically just this but with a few more curves.
My wife felt sorry for me playing it and booted up MP1 today. She only got though the frigate and said to me that it's immediately observable the difference between the two.

Even worse is I feel that MP2 was even more intricate with it's level design. But we're never getting a refreshed version now. Maybe it's for the best. Who knows how they could fuck it up

If Retro ever does remasters of Prime 2 and 3, since that seems to be the only thing they are good at now, I hope they expand the skyboxes so that actual locations are reflected in them instead of the gamecube empty sky void that they left in Prime remastered. Based on the map viewer on noclip.website you should be able to see the tower of light from the first area of Chozo ruins

along with the Flaahgra area

Just being able to see other rooms from across the map would sell it being a real location more, and its the kind of thing they could have done easily.

>Moshi moshi goy-kun, small artisan Nintendo desu. You need to buy Amiibo to get music to pray when you are in empty open word or it's sirent.
Nintendrones will defend this.

I know i'm being a broken record at this point but I'm still mad about the game not having any new power ups and doing basically nothing with the psychic gimmick. Having psychic powers as a theme could have lead to so many fun abilities. Like using telekinesis to not only open doors, but also throw enemy projectiles back. Or maybe somekind of psychic domination/mind control you need to use to control enemies and have them enter areas you can't, and then you could also use that ability in combat to turn some enemies against eachother. Literally the only power in the game that actually takes advantage of the psychic gimmick is the control beam, that's it. Like, c'mon man you guys couldn't come up with anything else?

Sounds cool, bigot. But we need to nepo incest hire the communist that think Samus is trans instead to further the party ideologies.
Jesus fuck, this looks like a tech demo
I looked up Unreal 5 Metroid a few days ago and got this.
Its almost on par. Except this - I hope to god - made by some 15 year old fucking around. Looking at the above makes me think this guy is working at Retro now.
