Just started last night. I’m moving at a pretty slow pace, so it took me an hour and a half to reach Myles and go through the bridge sequence with him. Compared to the hysteria about his “quipping,” his in-game dialogue so far has just been him making the kind of remarks you’d expect someone to make in his position. I do like how the Grievers can dodge your shots like Pirates, making them more challenging to shoot, but I hope these enemies get more aggressive as the game goes along, since they barely touched me and did no damage to Myles during the bridge sequence. Stopped after you get the control beam.

So far, it’s definitely Metroid Prime, so if you didn’t like the previous Prime games, it won’t make you a believer, but if you are like most of this thread and /v/, you’ll also not like having the characters around.

Edit: I’m playing the game on Switch 2 in 4K/60fps with HDR and 5.1 PCM surround sound. Control scheme is the mouse set up and difficulty is Normal.
Tonight, I played from where I left off to the part where you finish turning on the power in Volt Forge for the bike. The plant boss was pretty fun. The Viola tunnel that leads into Volt Forge had me wanting the Speed Booster ability when it shows Samus start running down the tunnel. Volt Forge itself had some nice brain teasers to get back to the top once you turn the power on. Myles still chats periodically on the radio since I left Fury Green, but it was about once every 20 minutes or so (but, again, I’m playing at a slower pace than probably most).

I forgot to note this last post, but the mouse controls took some tweaking in the settings to get the sensitivity where I like it, but it’s been good since. I just need a mouse pad for my living room to make the glide smoother.

Still having fun, but haven’t actually gotten on the bike yet, so I’ll report my thoughts when I play around on it for a while.

Can anyone who has played this tell me how much the modern audience nerd character is in the game? Is he a constant companion throughout? Telling you what to do every step of the way on the radio? Does he die horribly at some point? This is going to determine if I buy this game or not.

He is only an active companion for one mission but I'm told he constantly yammers at you over coms like every 3-5 minutes.

My cousin compared it to npcs in Borderlands 3 and that is not a flattering comparison to put it mildly.

So yea if you hate that shit than this game will drive you up the wall.

There are multiple modern audience characters that are major parts of the game and you will spend the majority of the time with them yapping in your ear or escorting them through the linear setpiece levels. The nerd phones you up ever 10 minutes to tell you what to do next, and after you complete an area to remind you what just happened and what to do next. Read my effortpost a couple pages back for more detail

I'm still in actual disbelief that Nintendo recreated the Eli character from Saint's Row 2019 and thought it was a good idea.

Thanks a lot, I was skimming the thread and somehow missed your excellent breakdown. Definitely skipping this game. It's a bummer, but I've always liked the 2d Metroids more than Prime anyway.

I think the funniest part of all this is all the nintendo fan boys upset that there are people who don't like the game and are criticizing it. They keep screaming that it's an 8/10 game! What? 8/10 games are bad now? Yes. Most games that are tent pole games have massively inflated scores. Since when did people start trusting and believing in game journalists?

https://youtube.com/watch?v=9GIAQ0-q0Bo:4233 He didn't rage quit he just restarted the game because it was faster than back tracking.
I like the comparison to this...
I will say it's cool that Samus sortov squints for a brief moment when the map is brought up in Prime 4, like her eyes have to adjust to the brightness of the visual display changing from the combat visor to the in-helmet map screen. Nice to see some attention to detail like that, although Prime 1-3's art direction still clowns on Prime 4.

And 8.0 out of 10.0 IS disappointing when all the other mainline Prime games got 9.0 and above. Prime 1 is nearing a perfect 10.

Nintendo fanboys as a whole have been super upset since the switch 2 launch and go into full overdrive the moment any criticism or shit talking is lobbed against nintendo
only other fanboys I can think of that are on this level is snoys but I think nintendo fanboys may be even more autistic

Saw a comment that I feel it fits a lot of games today, and not only Prime 4.

Yeah, it would be good if 'turn off handholding that essentially tells you the answers to challenges' and 'turn off telling you which buttons to use for a new ability' were separate settings. They're clearly different things.

I've kept it disabled and just googled the bike powerslide thing.

I started looking for reviews that mention the extreme linearity and general lackluster of the game. And they - at least of this writing - don't exist. If there are negative videos, they circle about the redditor and maybe the bike.

And then it hit me. Ladies and gents, we've been duped. THIS SHIT WAS ON PURPOSE.

Before you hit the autistic button, let me explain, since this shit's happened before.

Consider the post above that shows the MP1 chozo ruins map vs the MP4 map. That shit is objective, it cannot be argued with.

But you know what CAN be argued with? The redditor!

"Oh don't listen to that, it's just the racist 4chan chuds complaining, the game itself is fine, you hardly notice him"

This is the exact same playbook as many pedowood movies where the studio knew it would bomb on merits, so they cast the main actor as a nigger or just the most disgusting person ever to be born and basically use it as a human shield against the pile of shit beneath. It all makes fucking sense when you look at it that way.

Fuck, I bet Nintendo paid IGN and whoever was complaining about the redditor in the previews to make sure that's the topic that would permiate the reviews.

I've been accused of not actually owning the game when I complained about how much I dislike it lol. This is why people hate Nintendo fans.
