Will it be better or worse than The Binding of Isaac?

I've never seen a game generate so much praise and so much seethe from both aisles at once in awhile. Even if this doesn't turn out to be a huge hit, I gotta respect Strakmund on that alone.
It's the 13th most played game on steam currently, so I'd assume it's sold very well.

Imagine being Concord or Highguard and losing to this after all the hundreds of millions and all the publicity. You just know the industry is seething and coping by all the articles that have tried to 'cancel' the game. Suffah AAA slop games. Can't wait to play this game this weekend myself.

The meows are one of the most frequent, low-effort laughs the game gets out of me.
When I least expect it, the cat meows in the deepest possible voice and I get jumpscared.

Not going to pay $40 for a game in a genre I generally dont enjoy, but I'm tempted to pirate it and play and display it in the garage speakeasy over the weekend just because of how fucking weird and /ourgame/ it is.
Just wait for it to be on sale... his games generally get years of support and updates. By the time it's 10$ it will likely have 4x the content.

Only thing you miss out on by waiting is engaging in posts here about it. I can kinda get that. I still wanna sperg about expedition 33 but I'm a year late to the party.

It sounds to me like the game is the unofficial Darkest Dungeon 2, question is if like that game the dev will obsessively remove every fun synergy that gets too powerful.

Tank class seems the strongest so far, some stats are just way stronger than others.
I don't like it that Tank/Cleric/Ranger are mandatory. Wish there was a secondary healing/tanking class. Game really needs a paladin. from what I dug up in the code there doesn't seem to be another dedicated healing/tanky class
I'm stuck in caves, I spent all my money on food trying to get these cats to fuck but the retireds killed each other and the strays I pick regularly get beaten by the junkyard or sewer bosses cause their traits are shit. Oh well :(
There's a mod for that XD
Let's not break the games balance already, don't do a silksong and be a cunt who forces the Dev's to change the balance cause it's difficult or slow.
I'm not. The runs are still same and so is difficulty. I just get to use breeding early, like you're supposed.

Keep in mind these guys have been testing the game for 6y now. They need to take their noses out of the game. When you spend too much time designing/developing the game you sort of forget what it's like for new players and can only see it as a vet.

Grinding aller (and desert) can be a quit moment for a lot of players.

E: I attached Chris. Both Chris and Jim Sterling are "female voices" lol
For what it's worth, each set of voices can have a "distinctly_male" or "distinctly_female" flag set. CWC and Sterling have neither of their voices set as "distinctly" male or female, even though they're categorised as female.

All of the cameo cat voices that aren't "distinctly" male or female are:
Code:
female3 Carla
female4 Lisa Kuras

Ah man, that's the guy behind Zeboyd Games, they made Chthulu Saves the World and a few other fun indie RPGs I liked back in the day. Sad to see he's turned into such a joyless faggot, but it seems to be a case of sour grapes. He hasn't had any successful games in over a decade, and hasn't made a single game since the only other employee of his company, the other co-founder, left 3 years ago. Funny how he's the "biggest" developer that is shit talking Edmund.

Also, it's fucking cat meows, there's no fucking stance on anything. The cats aren't going "go nuke them" or something everytime you pick them up. Hilarious that some of the other resetera posters are complaining about meows "giving bigots a platform" when the only reason the guests are in the game is because they already are famous (to varying degrees) and had a platform.

As for the game, I like it. The RNG screws you just enough to only feel unfair about 10% of the time, and the rest of the time just inconveniences you. I'll probably talk more in depth once I'm farther, as I haven't really even gotten to experience the breeding mechanics, but that old crazy internet Newgrounds style charm is definitely here.

I think the tank is stronger than the rest but not really mandatory.

Necromancer can be pretty tanky if you get the right skills.

Just remember they’re literal (unpaid) cameos of meows and it’s not like you have to hear Chris Chan scream “Jullaaay!”
I think it's most telling that "I can cameo ANYONE, even the Goated #1 Isaac streamer Mr SouthernLioness".

And he goes with h3h3.
It's the 13th most played game on steam currently, so I'd assume it's sold very well.

IP bias. If this was a new game, "breed and battle cats in a Into The Breach-reskin", it'd die on arrival. Instead, now, it dies in ~2 weeks.

Ed has said that an odd thing they observed during testing was that people rated Cleric the #1 most important class, then over 40 hours of play they'd consistently drop down to dead last.
They responded to that by giving them more combat viability so battle clerics kind of are the paladin class I guess.

I didn't watch the whole thing but he mentioned in the same vid that most classes are set up for like 4 intentional archetypes, plus two or so subclasses meant for multiclass synergies, so I'm sure you can breed for something more specific if you're far enough in.

I've played a couple of rounds. Like people have said, I honestly expected to be challenged more? But so far it's been almost too smooth.

I've never really had great expectations for this game. From the base it's very clear that Ed came up with the pun first and spent twelve years trying to make a game that justified it. This is probably more in my wheelhouse than the fucked up nintendogs parody it was gonna be, but... eh, maybe I'm burnt out on roguelikes.

I love how the lyrics don’t kick in until you reach the boss stage. It’s so good.
I really do likethe progression. A niceway to show developing tension without making a super-aggressive or triumphant theme.
