isaac has hundreds (thousands?) more synergies than it did initially, and they're forever adding new visuals to specific combos even though they don't really need to and fixing things that seem like they should work a certain way.

all they've ever really removed was shit that bogged down the game like infinite item duplications that were so trivial to access you had to actively resist wasting 30 mins+ doing boring grindy shit every run. which still exist, it's just special when you get the opportunity now instead of a minmaxing dilemma.

also i'm pretty sure it's the 99% the nicalis team at this point, edmund just hands them napkin scribbles for updates
 
Breeding seems like a gimmick so far, a random chance to get a random chance to get a random chance to get a random chance to maybe have a kitten inherit a +1 to Strength. Way more bother than it's worth.

Good thing the game's easy as shit anyway.
 
I had never heard of this game until last week. After coming across the stellar reviews and overall unusually positive buzz, I decided to buy it on a whim and damn I am glad I did. Almost everything I have experienced so far oozes polish, care and vision. I can't remember when I've last had so much pure, childish fun with a game. Special mention to the soundtrack; it is quite a pleasant feeling when during boss fights the lyrics finally become a part of the song you've been listening to for tens of minutes.
My biggest criticisms would be the UI. Going through the cats' stats in the house is a bit of a pain in the ass when there's lots of them. Also, I cannot fathom why I am unable to look at my party's gear/stats during shops and combat. The only, and I mean only, gameplay related issue I have is that I cannot choose the cats' pathing more accurately. For example, if I want to move to a square 2 up and 2 right from the cat's current position, the game decides for me whether the route is via top or right. This is especially painful with the alley miniboss fucker, who throws invisible traps; I know where the traps are and could avoid them whilst still moving the max distance, but the game does not let me. Well, in the grand scheme of things, I still think that these are minor issues, which will more than likely be patched in time. Overall, I have been enjoying my time immensely (almost 28h in, according to Steam :stress:). The game's also been getting much more challenging after reaching the desert, although I have yet to lose a run.

One funny story; in one of my early runs, I got an event which lead to a cat named Largo ending the run with NINE (9) mutations, all of which were a net positive (+2 in one stat, -1 in another) and obviously I wanted to spread this ungodly freak's genes. Well, I managed to do so successfully, even above my expectations. Just now, I unlocked the ability to see the family tree of any cat and Mr. Largo, the grand fucker, had had kittens with at least 4 of his own kittens and at least with 2 of his grandkittens. Most of my cats have really good stats due to the mutations, but because of the Largo love spreading too wide, too quick, I have started seeing negative mutations due to inbreeding. Chris chan would be proud. I really need to upgrade my house, fast...

Also, lol at the fags at Resetera and in this thread whining about the INBRED CAT VOICE ACTORS not being complient to their retarded political tastes.
 
Hmm, are there any gay, "woke" aspects to this game, considering this is from the guy who called Isaac "genderfluid" cause he crossdressed?
 
Imagine loving a game but learning the creator said "faggot" and "retard" 15 years ago so now you're not allowed to have fun with it anymore. I legitimately cannot fathom being this mindraped. ResetERA is truly something else...

Anyways, I love Mewgenics and this will likely be my game of the year if nothing else really blows me away. In an interview with Vinesauce he said "I could see myself working on this game for another 5 years, easily. 2 DLCs for sure. I don't know after that, it'll really depend on if people are still playing it like Isaac" and the concept of years of Mewgenics support is EXCITING.
Especially after thinking "Legend of Bumbo" was bad and not really loving "The End is Nigh" as much as a few friends of mine, Edmund might have really peaked here. It's also given me a much stronger appreciation for Ridiculon after not really caring for their music much since the launch of isaac rebirth.

Oh and btw, if you haven't tried "safe" humping animations because like me you immediately thought "I'm not a baby I can handle it" I do recommend trying the random option, the safe animations can be pretty funny

I've encountered a cat with ? as a gender, i've seen male on male cat action as well as female on female as well, but they can't really make kittens
 
Just had my second defeat, 100% retarded.

I used the weapon that makes monsters friendly on one of the Grim Reaper guys in the Boneyard. Terrible idea. Next battle he spawned right next to three of my cats and instantly mauled them with his scythe-attack. Fuck!

I had a similar moment, while fighting the flushmaster. I had a cat with a skill that allowed charmed enemies to inflict bleed and poison and decided to charm him with my cat, turns out that the full screen attack he does can inflict staus effects, and it spiraled from there.

I will never understand how these people go to such extreme lengths to stay as miserable as possible.

So far my worst was giving mini me to a cat with the "spend 5 coins for stats" ability. Quick way to finish a run with no money.

Desert wasn't as bad as I thought, not enough to drop cleric. It is enough that Necromancer is pretty bad if you don't have a solution, considering the incidental heals and all that.
