While there really hasn’t been anything new John K.’s done recently there have been enough developments around him I thought I’d do this post as an update:

The Ren and Stimpy documentary has been finished and the final cut will be coming soon, so we’ll be able to see what the filmmakers have done with their interview with John.

His work is making a small comeback on TV, too; the Splat aired both R&S Christmas episodes last month, and just recently Adult Swim showed Boo Boo Runs Wild again. I suppose they think enough time’s passed and no one’s talking about it anymore, so they can get away with it.

And one last thing - and what inspired me to post this - Thad Komorowski made a comment on his Twitter claiming that John actually finished Cans Without Labels.

Like I said, I got it from a comment on Thad Komorowski’s Twitter. He wrote the book on John and knows a lot of people who were in his orbit. I don’t think he’s lying about this.

What you see there was apparently exhibited as a festival as a work-in-progress in 2016, and as far as I know that may be where the uploader got it. So it's entirely possible he's finished it since then.
