Microtransactions and DLC in Video Games

There's DLC and there's DLC, some good, some bad. I feel it's the gaming communities responsibility to reward the good and ignore the bad.
Unfortunately most gaming forum discussions on the topic just devolve into "Greedy devs, all dlc should be free, cancer killing the industry, blah, blah, blah"

One line that come up often is "I remember a time when I got the full game when I bought it" And I think, okay, that's fair enough. That said, I also remember a time when a game could be played from start to finish in an hour or two and if you adjust for inflation, you actually paid considerably more for the game and the system you're playing it on.

You ARE aware about how Fatalities work, right? You only use them AFTER you win a match, to humiliate an opponent. It isn't cheating, because you already won the match. The tokens just mean you don't have to punch in a specific combination of buttons to activate it.

EDIT: But I do think the problem is that there should be an option for everyone like that that ISN'T DLC. Like, easy mode or something.

I'm not sure who this was addressed to, but my big problem with the easy fatalities isn't cheating, I know how they work. However, if I remember correctly one of the older games has easy fatalities as a cheat code, and having it as a micro transaction in addition to how much they are charging for DLC (that they announced before the game even came out) is what rubbed me the wrong way.

* Asura's Wrath and how Capcom locked the 'True Ending" as DLC for the final 19-22 episodes.

Off-topic but iirc this was done for a fairly legitimate reason, in that CC2 literally ran out of disk space. None of the files for episodes 19-22 are present on-disk.

I mean, it's still shitty that they did it as opposed to releasing it for free or putting it on a second disk, but it was more justified than on-disk paywall shit.

Probably at me. I've never actually played a Mortal Kombat game so I was unaware of how Fatalities work.
