I just don't think the average American, or the system itself, are prepared to deal with how these people operate. Both are at a distinct disadvantage. This country can't even consistently decide if you have a right to shoot someone who breaks into your house or if you have a duty to retreat. How is it going to handle people shooting unarmed men who corner them in their driveway to shake them down using coded words that get the point across but aren't direct threats? What are we as a society going to do when those people, or the ones who go to the police, are targeted and relentlessly pursued in extremly violent retaliation? What do we do when that retaliation extends to not just one person, but their entire family, their neighborhood, their employees, people who have the most tenuous connection to them? (That article has to have, of course, a bullshit anti-America spin to it, but it accurately describes what happens in these situations and how any man, woman, or child who isn't under 24/7 military-style preparation for attack is at risk)

There IS a way to deal with these gangs, and it's how Bukele did it- with a massive military operation that either rounded up or killed suspected gang members, regardless of actual evidence against them, followed by a purging of any corrupt goverment influences. Are you prepared to (at least temporarily) suspended the constitutional rights of these people, some of who will be Americans by birthright, and completely violating how the justice system has worked in this country since its founding? Are you and your friends going to form the militia that carries this out? If not, then who is?
