Manosphere Mike Cernovich / @Cernovich / "Weird Mike" - Author of Gorilla Mindset, former self-declared Alt-Righter that was too scared by nazis, disbarred attorney, pill pusher, attention whore.

So James Gunn, some director that works for Disney, is no longer working for Disney. To tl;dr it all: old tweets of his were dugged up, he apparently made some edgy jokes and something about 100 girls. Cernovich dug it up or at least tried to push it out. Currently, Cernovich makes some take about media defending James Gunn by saying "old tweets are off limits". The funny part with old tweets, is that Cernovich can also be guilty of old tweets considering comments he made about date rape.

Also to add: since Cernovich could have a hand in Gunn's firing, there's also some cries of blood. Take what you will with the salt over Gunn's firing, but it may as well be funny to see how a lol-cow will take the shitstorm he may as well had a hand in.

So basically someone said some things he didn't like, mostly about Trump, and he decided to ruin a movie that a lot of people were excited about because of it. And people call lefties petty.

IDK, I don't get hardcore Trump supporters, man.

The same people who think de-platforming people for things they say/have said and ignoring context when it comes to things people have said in the past are both bad things are now using the same tactics against people who say mean things about Trump

Though, I guess to be fair; if Gunn was so ashamed of those Tweets, why didn’t he wipe them? Was he just being naive?

Don't really care about Cernovich, but a well deserved Career Darwin Award for Gunn for getting in silly ideological slap fights on social media while having a mass of pedophilia 'jokes' sitting there for anyone to see while working for the single most kid associated brand, Disney.

Because he probably didn't think about going back to tweets from a literal decade ago. Cernovitch would have to obsessively look through 10 years of tweets to find these.

It really is a shame Therno has no real job for him to lose because of that tweet. I mean, I guess they could disbar him is they wanted to, it's just not worth the effort to go after a nobody who hasn't even had any cases anyway and might as well not even be a lawyer.

Considering how Cernovich passed the bar but never worked and instead lives off alimony, the fact that he more or less never really worked would not only make his license as a lawyer a waste, it'd could more or less mean that he wouldn't really be fit to be a lawyer for anyone unless he managed to somehow keep himself familiar with all the procedures and such.

He's a licensed lawyer but earlier in the thread it was learned that 1) it took him significantly longer to pass the bar exam than normal (I think he retook it like 7 times) 2) He has never actually been in court and basically lives off of his ex-Wife's alimony money.

In Therno's defense-- California is generally acknowledged to have the most difficult bar exam in the country. If you aren't really into practicing into law and only became an attorney to make your parents happy it is the toughest state to do it in. It is not uncommon for people to do some retakes, especially on the California exam.

What's prevented him from taking on any cases? Because it seems like he's mostly using his law degree for brownie points on his old Crime & Federalism blog and as a way to give himself credibility when dragging out the latest unhinged conspiracy theory. It doesn't help that he essentially freeloads off his ex-wife and current wife's parents.

P certain that the tactic he used on Gunn won't work on Oswalt or Black. Those guys are comedians who have no problem making off color jokes. Gunn was working for Disney and they have an image to protect.

Why did Disney handle it so publicly? They were decade old tweets and nobody cares about Therno. Why not just tell him to delete and move on? And comparing it to the Roseanne situation is foolish because she was saying things like that while working for ABC.

Though it's really funny that Disney would hire the guy who made a movie where Ellen Paige rapes Rainn Wilson if they're that concerned about image.

Literally a dozen people in my life got a law degree with no intent on practicing law. The director of the first feature-length film I was a star in, The Hacker Wars (currently available on iTunes and Netflix) got a law degree and never took a single case. If anyone remembers gnol from ED IRC, same situation there-- she's had a law degree for many years and decided she just wanted to write python for a living. You can trivially get a free ride through a less than great law school. Taking on a law degree doesn't obligate you to go to traffic court for the rest of your life.

Plenty of things to attack Therno on but this is just dumb "he has a law degree that he's never used!" generally means you are describing an expensive asset in his favor. It's like saying "he has a lambo that he never takes to the track!" -- you're not making him look bad.

Therno didn't even really do the research, that's his idea of investigative journalism - presenting what anons dug up from somebody's decade old tweets.

Imagine, some guy (Gunn) has millions of fans eagerly waiting for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and he gets taken down thanks in part to this lisping weirdo who sells a pill that he claims "regrows neurons".

I watched The King of Kong and Chasing Ghosts recently, and Roy "Mr. Awesome" Shildt reminds me more than a little of Weird Mike.

For many non-practicing lawyers, the pay isn't as good as they can get doing anything else, or it's just not worth the stress (because you're on duty 24/7, you're constantly having to fight other lawyers indirectly for a caseload and there's a hell of a lot more lawyers out there trying to make a living than there are livings to make as a lawyer, your clients often just give up on their causes, your clients feel like they can show up to your house at 2 in the fucking morning to discuss their newest legal strategy and get mad that you won't invite them in, your clients file grievances against you because you didn't use their brilliant legal strategy that they learned while playing a Phoenix Wright game...).

Though in Cernovich's case, it's laziness, entitlement, and incompetence. He could take on cases in California for men who are being unjustly treated in the courts, but he won't. He gets more money and satisfaction from whining about someone else's suffering, and if he actually tried to practice law, someone might just figure out he's a blithering moron.

This is stupid. Cernovich is not a top tier lawyer. If someone is being treated unjustly by the court system, that's an extremely controversial and adversarial case that only the upper 0.3% of law talent is really qualified to fight.

Keep in mind, I've beaten multiple felonies and set favorable precedent at the federal appeals level, so I might know something about what I am talking about. Cernovich taking these kinds of difficult situations requiring an extensive appeals battle would not be doing anyone any favors. Very few people can possibly handle this kind of work.
