Mike Judge and Comedy Central are "reimagining" Beavis and Butt-Head for Gen Z

It's true that no one really cares about GWAR anymore, but they weren't a "big" band in the 1990s in the way the others I mentioned were, at least not here.

I mainly only knew about GWAR because of Beavis & Butthead and how it was the one band that appeared to have some kind of special licensing arrangement with the producers where they could use their logo on Beavis & Butthead merchandise and in the comic books and videogames.

Yeah, I remember GWAR being some kind of weird underground-ish band in the 90's. Their music videos would get shown on TV, but they were nothing compared to Metallica or Nirvana who were massively large around the same time. I remember GWAR would usually play small venues to limited audiences, even when they were still around. I've had friends who were lucky enough to see them live in like 2000-2001 or so, and they would only do small venues, unlike bands like Metallica that could fill a stadium and sell out in seconds.

It's Mike Judge ffs, he made Conservative Dubya supporters sympathetic during peak Bush Derangement Syndrome. You're not getting "woke" B&B.

Yeah, but the Goode Family was quite tongue in cheek.

I've noticed something. Zoomers are young versions of Gen X the same way Millennials followed after Boomers. They are going to fucking love this.
It's true. Everyone can empathize with the generation directly above or below them because of crossover, but any further removed, and the mindset feels foreign.

Comedy Central's literally no better.

True, but given Mike Judge being more or less "established" and Beavis & Butthead being one of those big legacy shows from the 90's alongside King of the Hill, I could maybe see Comedy Central giving him a "grandfather clause" with B&B the same way they do with Trey & Matt for South Park.

Basically, you may get a few really bad cringe woke episodes as lip service to the SJW's at Comedy Central but the rest of the season is good or at least decent.

The short-lived 2011 reboot was surprisingly good, despite its flaws (not as good as the original, but still). If MTV execs didn't fuck Judge over, I think it could've had real potential.

I really don't see how one would even make a woke Beavis & Butthead. One of their most prominent gags is their hopelessly naive lust towards chicks, and total incompetence at ever managing to score. You really can't remove that from the show.

Though on the other side of the coin, they'd be perfect for making fun of soyboys, and Stewart just fits into that role like a glove.

Stewart: "Check it out, guys! I got the newest limited edition Funko Pop of Peter Parker! The rare one only given out at Comic Con, and I got the last one! This thing goes for a fortune!"
Butthead: *swipes it away* "uh, hmmmm... This is stupid. It doesn't even look like the guy."
Stewart: "Well, give it back"
Butthead: *holds it up high* "uh huh huh huh, uhhhhhh, no"
Stewart: *jumps up and down* "Come on, give it back!!!"
Beavis: "You know what we should do, Butthead? We should set it on FIRE! on FIRE! YEAH! fffffFIRE"
Butthead: "huh huh, yeah. Stewart, it's time you become a man. Time to get rid of your toys, uh huh huh huh"
Stewart: "But that figure goes for $1,500 on eBay!"
Butthead: "Oh really? Hmm... Fifteen hun-... That's stupid. Come on, Beavis, let's go burn this thing"
Beavis: "Y-EEEAH! FIRE, FIRE! hmm hmm heh"

*cut to a music video*

Since it’s Comedy Central will we get a South Park and Beavis and Butthead crossover?

Maybe they'll do a couple of promo spots with characters from both series but I think that's about the best you can hope for realistically.

Kenny's voice was provided by Mike Judge once, but only for the movie if I remember correctly.

That's definitely true. Gen X and Gen Z were both very carefree and anti-PC, yet were somewhat progressive and diverse. Boomers and Millennials are the concerned Karen types in a constant state of misery and being offended. It used to be the religious right Boomers who wanted to complain and censor everything, now it's the wine mom avocado soy milk Millennials who want to cancel anything they find problematic. I can see the parallels between X and Z, in terms of the edginess.

Judge has never really been a woke kind of guy. I honestly get the feeling he's either moderate right wing or libertarian. King of the Hill took just as many potshots at pretentious, smug leftists as it did with fuddy duddy Reagan era conservatives. Van Dreissen on B&B was a great parody of the touchy feely hippy boomer PC crowd in the 90s

Mike Judge has made promos for Alex Jones. It’s amazing he hasn’t been doubleplus canceled. Here’s one of the promos:

There could be some good mileage of Beavis and Butthead, still never aged, just walking around Current Year being dumb at people.

That would be funny, especially if they somehow explain why they haven't aged with some bizarre reason.

Comedy Central's literally no better.

They tolerate South Park.

Jones has been a staple of the Dallas area since the 90s, its only natural Judge would work with a Texas icon who is the hero of the many Dale Gribbles who inhabit the State. He even made an episode of KOTH where Dale started his own radio show and became a low rent Alex Jones.

Alex Jones was a local Texas celebrity even before he became a conspiracy meme, and I think he's personal friends with Mike Judge.

I'm pretty sure Dale Gribble was more or less written as a composite of Alex Jones and William S. Burroughs

It will be disgustingly woke. You can count on that.
I doubt it'll be anymore "woke" than Silicon Valley or the 2010s reboot season. Beavis and Butthead is Mike Judge's baby. I just don't think he'd disgrace such iconic characters like that.

My biggest concerns with new seasons is that it might just be well rather dull like most of the last seasons of King of the Hill were, by the end of KOTH Greg Daniels had left the show to work on The Office and Parks & Recreation, and Judge directed Idiocracy and Extract during that period. The showrunners were John Altschurer and Dave Krinsky who aren't untalented people but they made the show rather safe and frankly stupid at times. Remember when Hank was bullied by a kid younger than Bobby (Dusty Old Bones?). I wish I could forget that. It lacked the edge that Mike Judge's work is known for.

My other concern is that Comedy Central is going to fuck over the show because they're Comedy Central. The new Beavis and Butthead episodes should either run before or after South Park which is just a perfect fit as they were the definitive shows that 90s parents pretended to abhor and then watched and laughed at along with their kids.

I wouldn't put it past Comedy Central to set it up for failure by putting it with some other garbage original programming. They need to recognize that Beavis and Butthead's strength is nostalgia. I don't know if Beavis and Butthead will really grab the attention of Zoomers who have grown up with the Adult Swim block that took the near nihilistic crude humor that B&B runs on to it's natural extremes.

In 1992 Beavis and Butthead was cutting edge in their premier short Frog Baseball. Butthead breaks Beavis's skull with a baseball bat and then the two finally murder a helpless frog.

Now this stuff is tame, christ Family Guy for the last decade does shit like this almost every episode for shock value and to see how much they can get away within the confines of network television. B&B used to get high on butane lighters, now they'd have to do Crystal Meth to get parents upset.
