Talk about Tanks Planes and Ships or general Defense issues, if you can carry it and operate it single-handedly it belongs in one of the Gun threads, and this is a milsperg containment for all the Milsperg lolcow threads discussion of them goes in their respective threads.
I'll start:
The HEMTT is the best logistics truck ever designed, and I will die on this hill:

The OV-10 was kinda retarded looking but also pretty based.

Fight me. This fucker could carry sidewinders. There was a possibilty of it shooting down a mig in Nam which makes me chuckle despite it being ground attack.

Oh, I thought we might finally get some appreciation for the OE254 an antenna that can endure anything, or the LM251 that endure a lot while transmitting data.
But it's just gonna be another jet thread :(

I mean we can. This is THE milsperg thread. Lezz go bro.

Ugly worthless piece of shit.
The MiG-23 was actually pretty decent.

Swing wings make me flaccid.

Please go on. I like radios but I know jackshit about them.

Well the OE-254 is a military antenna that was developed in the 1990s, it's Omni-directional, and very durable. This piece of equipment can either be assembled fully, or used as a module that you can leave at a high point. Either way it can survive serious downpours and weather. I love the thing, even though it can be a pain in the ass to assemble. Most Forward Observers are supposed to be able to assemble the full thing it in less than 5 minutes, very optimistic especially if you are on an OP.
So most just connect the anntenas and throw the module in a nearby tree or leave it at a high point.

Here's the full thing assembled: idk why it's bending probably wind, but try building that shit in 5 minutes, pain in the ass. But I love the fucker.

Well you might love (if you never heard of it) the magical device called the PFED. (or Pocket-sized Entry Device)

Showing up in the god given year of 2000.
This device was capable of of a lot of things.
While mostly used to inject comsec codes into radios, it was also used to plan targets for artillery, send messages among modules and overall carry the War On Terror.

There's a reason most infantrymen were not allowed to handle it and the ones who were had to have clearances. It had contained a lot of Intel, especially on other PFEDs.

But 90% of the time it was used to inject comsec into radios.

That thing looks crazy, I'm doubtful of five eminutes unless it's tethered and unfolds like a tent frame though.

Ok, best piece of US military equipment is the one man collapsible bug net. It weighs about a pound, and is perfect for any camping situation, takes up next to no space in a pack, and actually works as advertised. It is the only piece of gear I have recommended my civilian friends buy.
I'll edit in a picture of one later.

Yes but only the air force gets those.

Have you ever heard of the Guardrail EW aircraft, I knew a guy who worked on the revamp of it and the story behind it was really cool, in the the defense industry is super scummy way.

So the LM251 developed around the time of the PFED, is a smaller antenna that can survive harsh weather like the OE-254 but not as far reaching the OE can reach (I believe) 20 km while the LM can only maybe a 5. But where the LM excelled was in the transmission of data.

The LM251 could not only let the person tell you what's going on but give you realtime gps data.

Its an impressive antenna, and you can buy one, but you cant utilize it's full capabilities unless you can mimic a PFED.

Considering the context of this thread, idk of this a troll or not, but I am interested none the less.
EW aircraft are so under talked about its not funny. Do tell.
Forgot that Guardrail was a SIGINT aircraft not EW. Basically Lockheed Martin low balled the original contract, didn't have the tech to do moving radio signal reception and was in so far over their head(they were like 5 years behind schedule after a single year) they ran to DoD and asked if they could "borrow" Northrop Grumman IP(patent and or trade secrets) to finish the contract, got told to fuck off and then the DoD went to Northrop with a pocketful of pennies and was like could you do this and Northrop did it on time and under budget. This and some other shit LM has pulled is why LM was on the shit list for most of the 2010s
