Man, Risugami's ModLoader...
You know, at least we're long past those dark ages of modding. Well, they were the golden ages content-wise, but technicality-wise? Does anyone really miss deleting META-INF and dealing with .class file conflicts? Or did everyone sighed in relief when Forge happened and we were all just dropping in .jar files to mods/ without ever having to touch minecraft.jar?

>named after the most demonic material from TFC
one wonders what possesses trannies to do these things
holy based
Also I was playing E2E Unofficial Skybound and encountered the same HEI (JEI fork) crash multiple times, related to JEI Utilities as well. I fixed it once by reinstalling and copying over my save, but I'm not doing that if it happens literally every day. I don't usually play 1.12 modpacks, and the ones I do play don't usually crash, so that was unpleasant. Or maybe it was the fault of that furfag Pansmith.

As dogshit a modpack I think it is, it's...not as bad as people make it out to be, difficulty wise. Most of the people I've seen play it are some of the most mentally disabled motherfuckers I've ever seen. Then again I've played with most of the mods it has at one point or another so at this point I know them most of them well enough, but if you asked me to play it again I'll laugh and tell you to go eat a bag of dicks.
The pack as a whole is almost entirely 'haha, you failed RNG check, die and restart' without extra mods added on. It doesn't even have a grave mod, and that's downright archaic given its contemporaries AND competition.

It's hard for the sake of hard, rather than by good design.

I don't know about you guys but I'd rather play gregtech and ae2 over rlcraft and better than wolves any day of the week

even the best survival mod (TFC) feels lacking
Can't say I agree, TerraFirmaGreg/ATM Gravitas 2 was some of the most fun I've had with the game, especially in multiplayer with the civilizations addon except for the kaolin hunt, that was AIDS

...half the content in tfg is gregtech.
You seriously enjoy setting up your 20th support mine for insert gregtech mineral here? How far did you get? I got up to LV with one friend and now I'm on EV with another. They just added Ad Astra to the pack which is not very good.

Any suggestions for mods that would be good for better displaying items? Hat Helmet stands, weapon/tool racks, sword-in-the-stone dealies? My current 2 week MC itch has progressed to scabies level so I'm going to try for the classic block museum idea and don't particularly want six gorillion item frames everywhere. Playing on 1.21.5, but considering starting a new world for this project anyway, so don't mind downgrading versions.
I know there's Bibliocraft, but it's so bloated with stuff I don't want

Speaking of TFG, I'm not sure which mod it is, but you can place items on the ground with V in that modpack. There are also tool racks, and placeable ingot stacks.

Which version of Gregtech do you recommend? Haven't played in so long I can't remember much, I hear Nomifactory is a good place to start though. Also I hate how when I look for Gregtech by itself it's just GTNH, I get that it's far more popular due to the "this modpack takes x hours to complete" videos but damn...
Usually I'm not into turbo-tism mods like GT but fuck it, might as well know how to do it. AE2 is dope though, even if I only interact with a small amount of it. Been apart of my earlier modpacks all the way back in 17.10.

Helmet stands and tool racks I tend to see from other mods that add a bunch of things related to a subject, like a medieval mod. I don't know too much about standalones but after a quick search:
  • Display cases - Looks simple, adds an item that holds an item, but it looks like it just uses the "dropped" sprite so it may not be what you want.
  • Items Displayed - Allows you to place some items like blocks, so that could help even if it's not quite what you're looking for.
  • Sword displays - Since you mentioned Bibliocraft, here's a sword display mod that's pretty much exactly like Bib's.
  • Racks - Definitely fits what you're looking for, in datapack form.
  • Vanilla bootlet helmet display - Made by a literal child and it's more tolerable than these "adults" that talk like "HEY GUYS WELCOME BACK TO-" bullshit.
  • Another one
  • And another one - Both are shorts too.

I definitely recommend picking one based on a modpack you actually have interest in playing. I haven't played Nomifactory but I have played Monifactory. If you've used AE2 to automate a mod like Thermal or Mekanism then you can definitely figure out Gregtech, it's not that hard. Being more complicated than the average tech mod is balanced out by offloading the bulk of the crafting/logistics to AE2. You should figure out how subnets work if you don't know, but channels are disabled by default in both of those packs. P2P is also good to know, but the rest is fairly straightforward. You should internalize using interfaces and GT covers for automation as opposed to import/export buses with crafting cards.

Side note: AE2 in 1.12 uses Interfaces for autocrafting and stocking, newer versions split up the functionality into Interfaces and Pattern Providers. It's not that complicated and AE2 has great in game documentation now, like Create's Ponder mechanic.

If you like Factorio and want to unlock AE2 as quickly as possible, then both Nomi and Moni are solid choices. Nomifactory is finished and everyone says that makes it more satisfying which I have no reason to doubt. It's on 1.12 and may be more familiar to you if you're used to playing 1.7 Minecraft. Also the Monifactory devs are planning to release a final update soon, so it might be best to wait until that happens.

Some other common suggestions are Star Technology for a skyblock, TerraFirmaGreg for an autistically overhauled survival/stone age, FTB Interactions for a bunch of integrated mods like Thermal and Blood Magic, and GTNH for the memes.

Now despite that, GTNH is anything but a meme pack. It is ridiculously polished because it has been developed for over a decade now. The quest book is second to none and the pack has a lot of custom features like multiblocks developed exclusively for it. Look for videos by Lashmak or Threefold if you want to learn more about it. The only caveat is that you are not really supposed to be able to beat it in any reasonable timeframe. It's 100% about the journey, not the destination. I would not recommend it for someone who hasn't played GT, but if you complete something like Nomifactory, then you might be interested in GTNH.

SuperSymmetry is worth keeping in mind, one of the developers is a physics scientist who works for CERN. It's nowhere near close to finished though. Gregtech Community Pack by Tech22 is apparently a good introduction as well. If you aren't used to playing expert packs then you may want to check that out.

I started playing GT in 1.20 so I'm spoiled by the modern textures. You can install them on older versions too.

Incredibly controversial take:
For all its flaws, Ore Spawn was a better addition to Minecraft than the bulk of the Numojang updates.
New ores, new foods, new mobs, new dimensions, etc.
Was it a little disorganized and chaotic? Yeah. Was some of it way overpowered? Yeah. But it was at least interesting and changed the core gameplay loop.

More ambitious- yes. Better? No, precisely because it does the same thing all the Nujang updates have done- changed the core gameplay loop to something inherently boring and grindy.
I like the textures better but the scaling is dragon ball levels of ass.

Been playing this pack called Liminal Industries. It might be based off meme backrooms shit, but I've honestly been very impressed with how much you need to interact with the environment and how it puts Create as the forefront tech mod. My biggest complaint is that it's missing some of the more common QoL mods like inventory sorting or EMI.

I've been following the development of this weird mod called Detour. Unfortunately he said this about a month ago:

Imagine if Notch said
"Minecraft will not be configurable or moddable"
Then this retard wouldn't even be able to make his gay little project. I really hate artsy tranny faggots like this. Muh artist's vision.
Anyway it will be funny to see how he tries to enforce this. Because unless he encrypts the files or something, people will just be able to edit the config files like every other mod in existence.

He'd probably ignore it because Notch is LITERALLY HITLER.
