I'm seeing comments on here asking why they didn't do the Aether, it's pretty simple.

The Aether is a fanmade idea, from the name to what is inside it. It's been made many times already as mods and people have been making/developing it for years.

Minecraft wouldn't have anything truly new/original to add to it. If they make it too similar, modders could become angry and accuse them of stealing their ideas be it in new blocks, mobs, items, etc.

There really is no point to make an official Aether because it wouldn't add anything substantial to the default game (not that the Sift will either tbh). At least with Sift, it's an original idea they can build and expand without infringing on what modders made 10 years ago. It's kinda like how in Pokemon, they can't add new Eevee evolutions because fan designs have pretty much done what they would have made. It sucks, but I get why they chose the Sift.

What I don't get, however (like many of you mentioned), is why they added a new dimension instead of an End update. I don't keep up with modern Minecraft news, would changing the end piss off modern players? I know there's that whole speed run subculture who would likely hiss a fit if they had to learn new tactics to beat the game. Would an End update be controversial?

A new Minecraft dimension was just announced.

By the way, this is just an infrared filter.

The last Minecraft update I enjoyed was the Java Edition 20w14∞ joke snapshot from 2020. In hindsight it basically showed that they could have added new dimensions in any update they wanted to for the last 6 years.

Yeah the market that wanted this aspect of MC explored more thoroughly has been so underserved for so long that they left and made their own game called Vintage story which has it's own problems but you'd probably get a kick out of.
i'm aware of vintage story but it presents similar issues where i come in expecting it to be one thing ("minecraft but better") and then am left kind of offput when it's its own thing (vintage story). i just kind of want... minecraft, if it kept the spirit of minecraft.? in a way.
i know mods exist to fix shit but they're just bandaids and/or duct tape that serve to cover the varying cracks of the game's foundation.

this is a smaller complaint but i adore minecraft horses and the existence of elytras alongside that horrendous terrain update basically shot all the horses in the leg. oh, let me go tame this wonderful speedy horsie! i sure hope some random fucking bullshit ravine 30 blocks deep and 2x2 blocks wide isn't right underneath the bend somewhere on the plain i'm about to traverse onto, surely killing my newly claimed horse, as that would be horrible and make the game feel bad to play. like fuck's sake. might as well make a superflat world at that point

lol "they changed it so it sucks now," the thread. This happens literally every time they add anything at all to the game, having failed to get approval from the "bought it ten years ago and been bitching about it ever since while still playing it regularly" committee, because [thing they added in this update] isn't exactly and precisely [thing I once thought of, mentioned once on some unofficial forum thread somewhere, ergo they fucking owe me], so it's "the worst change ever." This remains the most modding-friendly and easily-modded sandbox game of all time. You can literally add whatever you think is missing yourself if Mojang/Microsoft keep "missing the mark."

I do note the troon-coded color scheme, but expect that murdering fucking everything in this new dimension will be immensely satisfying, much to their utter shock and horror as players invade this new "uwu" aesthetic and lay waste to it in their private sandboxes. It was the same as with that troon-coded bee thing they added. You could kill those too.

You can always still play older releases or mod the new shit out if you want, too. Minecraft remains one of the few modern gaming "products" that to this day (and with its own native launcher/distribution platform, even post-Microsoft purchase), allows you to download and play fucking ancient versions of the game (even in multiplayer, the only caveat being "official" authentication for online play pre-Beta 1.8 no longer officially works, but remains playable with mods). You can still play a build as old as rd-132211 (pre-Classic, dated may 13, 2009), right from the launcher, along with Infdev build 20100618, and other such old gems. And everything in between and launched since, of course.

I've already discovered a foolproof way to avoid this new dimension too. It's a similar tactic to how The Nether can be avoided completely by failing to build a rectangular "portal-like" shape out of obsidian blocks and opting out of the "ignite it with flint steel" process. This method works, even 100k blocks away from spawn. I've evaded being kidnapped by The End in several sandbox instances by ignoring the game's sneaky psychological warfare trying to trick me into hunting down an End portal, hunting and killing Endermen, slotting their eyes precisely into the activation slots and leaping into the mystical portal that emerges.

It's a fuckin' sandbox guys. Ignore the shit you hate and play the shit you like. JFC.

I've discovered a foolproof way to avoid discussions on this site you don't like too. Don't click on the thread "Minecraft" and don't post 4+ paragraphs of clitty leaking.

I can and I do. Besides a single fling with 1.20.1 to try the taller worlds, Alex's caves, and Create played exclusively vanilla and modded 1.12.2 for the entire ~14 years I've had MC. Only just in the last month or two have I gone up to 1.17.10 for GTNH which I am really enjoying. It's got the same tranny stink that any open source project with a discord server does but it's still a vastly better experience than retail/bedrock.

Why not? It's a fun discussion. it doesn't "offend" me. I enjoy it. Mocking people upset at dumb shit like this is a delight.

Go play with your legos.

>[Long-ass post(s) missing the entire point of the complaints and advocating for a solution (twice) that has only had its 'behind the shed' moment delayed by the complaint volume that would result (also twice) or something like that]
I would like to "play with the legos" with others, but this requires Insane Mental Gymnastics and multi-page guides OR literally being paid to do so nowadays, mostly because of said changes that supposedly make the game even more moddable.
The other part of that is the community that Microshit has fostered with this focus on Sandbox Only.
You know, the group of people that have an entire subforum on this website dedicated to them in particular, they're that prolific of a variety of cow?
Oh, and the furries too, i guess, but for once they kept their shit self-contained and actually install-only-if-wanted for the most part.

Playing computer legos with friends isn't insurmountably difficult, it's usually just that the guides are ass.
If you don't want it up 24/7 you can just use the "Boot to Lan button" in the ingame pause menu and give it the port you picked when "port forwarding"
You do Port forwarding by logging into your router and specifying which tdp/udp "Port" you want open to the internet
with that done you can give any of your buddies your router's IP:the port you picked

If you do want it up 24/7 you can go get the server.exe from the vanilla/modded launcher, configure it to listen to the port you picked, and have it running on a computer that's always on and has enough ram and processing power to maintain the tps you want. Usually anything with at least 16gb of ram and 4 cores will handle you and a few buddies just fine.
It's easy for me to say cause I've done it a few times, the real work is finding enough people you're comfortable knowing your IP addresses, having access to your Lan, and a java program (famously secure) running on said Lan to justify the trouble, Otherwise you'll have to get into some significantly more advanced and labor intensive networking shit.
