Minecraft

i loved it, basically everything everyone ever wanted that are great QoL stuff that mojang did, as a fucking joke.
Hey, with the amount of effort that was put into it, some of the stuff in there is definitely coming to the game in some form.

Much like how the infinite dimensions April fools joke was used to implement custom dimensions.

So for the past couple of days the QuiltMC project has been collapsing in on itself due to the tranny moderators biting off more than they can chew with regards to accusations of racism and how they conduct themselves in the eyes of other collaborators.

It starts some time on the 21st where Kashike, at that time the owner of the QuiltMC Discord server, makes the following announcement and tries to regain some control over the situation and his herd of cats.

The response to this was nothing short of angsty and vitriolic from much of the team.

Since then, however, a number of posts made by Quilt team members and moderators would surface, showing a lot of blatant "kill whitey" rhetoric which other modders such as YUNGNICKYOUNG and the team at PaperMC would not be impressed by.

Fast forward to today, where the team at Quilt publishes their own statement (a), which is an unholy abomination of words and words and he-said-she-said shit-flinging with 77 fucking citations and introductions for the staff themselves with lists of their fucking ethnicity.

Currently people are still looking forward to seeing how this shit show unfolds.

Who was it that called this shit?
Anybody with pattern recognition. Quilt was born from the tranny drama hanger-ons, from the drama born from Fabric, from the drama born with Forge. FFS they created Quilt because sfplayer1 did not immediately install a pronoun bot, a plural bot, and a damn tone indicator bot for their discord server, which was the inciting incident behind the creation of Quilt (I believe at least, I would have to check). These people are hyper-online, dramatical weirdos, who were going to fall under the sword of community drama and infighting, just as those behind them did for ridiculous reasons. When your community is comprised of people who followed you through two separate modloader related shit-shows, of course these people are going to be the ones who will cause more drama in your new community. Quilt was born solely from drama, and not any technical reasons, this was the only path for Quilt.

Truth is, the game was rigged from the start.

lol of course replies to YUNG's tweet are full of "ackshually you can't be racist against wypipo". And a metric fuckton of those replies are from troons.
The amount of otherkin, furries, and pretend-DID havers is astounding too. The fat fetish tranny robot is also there too, as to be expected. link. (A)

If you are unfamiliar with this literally-who, he organized a mod convention centered around Quilt and Fabric, called "Blanket con". More information about the organizer is back on Page 49.

Agreed. I don't think anyone will miss it, tbh. Fabric and Forge are the only modloaders I'm willing to put up with.

I'm glad Yung decided to not bend over for these people, especially if they are shitting up the project as a whole. His mods are some of the best world gen mods available for the nu-versions.

In other news, recently Mojang banned griefers outside of their in-game report system based purely on video evidence. FitMC did a video on it.

*ninja'd by @GenociderSyo as I was writing this up*

Of course, everyone is taking the bait hook, line and sinker, because "griefer bad so griefer ban good", applauding this decision. Except the broader issue is far far worse.

Mojang, or as everyone should say nowadays Microsoft, has used the same ban system they use for banning players for chat messages, except:

-they've applied the bans outside of the chat reporting system
-they've applied the bans based on "video evidence"

The first issue is basically that all the people applauding those bans are falling for the first stage of the tactic that every government uses to restrict personal freedoms. They do something outside the boundaries they've initially laid out, but they do it against the biggest scum in the people's eyes so they get unanimous support for it. And after they've accomplished that, and everyone supports it, now they can move onto lesser, much more innocent targets, and anyone who'll speak against it will be called out for defending the biggest scum that got initially hit by the initial overstep, and now it will continue until you get screwed over like the biggest scum, even if you're completely innocent, but it's too late to do anything about it.

It seems like this method will never go out of date looking by the comment section. Barely anyone tries to foresee what it will imply. So it's only a matter of time until Microsoft arbitrarily bans Minecraft accounts for what the users have said on social media, and everyone sees it as an outrageous overstep, yet they've let that happen by not seeing the writing on the wall because they were the most docile fucking nigger cattle and it was the best fucking thing for Microsoft.

The second issues is that it's trivial to set up a modded Minecraft scenario where you can frame a user into committing acts of griefing and other atrocities and get them banned for something they haven't done. This will basically lead to USSR levels of framing the enemies of the state. And no one sees this as an issue because of the aforementioned tactic. Now of course my allegories are rather political, and I'm sure plenty of Minecraft players will dismiss my argumentation because "Minecraft isn't politics u dummy", but this is the exact same manipulation tactic, except this time it's not going to affect you on the government level but on a block game level.

Now that is a stretch-and-a-half. The incident shown in video was griefing done on a massive scale within the game.

I see no reason why Microsoft would want to expand their reach beyond Minecraft in ways like looking at people's social media activity (assuming that the people this action would be targeting would even have the same information as their minecraft account). The entire system was made to deal with shit going on in the game. If they went beyond that, it would raise a shit-ton of eyebrows.

The fact the griefing was dealt with in this way does raise some concerns, but I feel like you're going WAY off the rails with this.

They've already went beyond what they were seemingly promising and people accepted it. They promised that the migration to Microsoft account will be the only change with Minecraft, and soon enough they've added the chat reporting system to Java Edition. And given that this is Microsoft, I won't be surprised if they'll start banning people for social media posts, because it's Microsoft, all the big corpos are trying to implement even more draconian off-game moderation methods to stop toxicity and transphobia and all that, and also they will try to get there, and if they do, they will get there, because they know exactly how to manipulate the fanbase.

Add a controversial feature, wait for people to calm down and accept it as a norm, then add an even more controversial feature and people won't react to it as strongly as they would before because now they've got used to this new controversial feature so their threshold for controversial features has been increased. And remember, their main cash cow is Bedrock Edition, nowadays JE is treated by them as a legacy form that they've already embraced and extended, and now it's time to extinguish it. And as much as JE players will scream and writhe because they know this is something alien to their game, BE players don't care, that's the norm for them, and slowly but surely they will either discontinue JE or make it as pozzed as BE, and no one will have any say in that.

It may sound like a stretch now, but remember, if you told someone a few years ago that Microsoft would force everyone to migrate from their Mojang account into a Microsoft account, and that after that they would add chat reporting to JE where you could get banned from playing the game you paid for because you said a mean word on a server, they would call you a lunatic for thinking they would do that.

Holy fuck, the Quilt statement is an absolute gold mine of retardation like you wouldn't believe. Never have I earnestly seen someone refer to "inflammatory" as being a racist remark.

(Clarification: "Curle" is another alias of Amethyst in the screencaps below.)

i think my main problem with the ban shit is-int even the ban but more that people are saying the grief-ed are "victims of online harassment" and the this is just like experiencing a real life robbery ,and other dumb defenses of what should of been fault/problem of the server hoster and not mojang.

Alright, I'll give you that, but I still don't see it. Say it does get to that point, in order for something like that to even go anywhere, the intended targets would have to:
  • Use the same account information as their Minecraft Account
  • Say something on their feed to even warrant a ban.
  • Would have to be small enough for it to go mostly unnoticed.
The first two things I listed already make that endeavor more trouble than it's worth and I doubt Microsoft cares enough about wrongthink outside of the game to even consider it.

I deleted my Microsoft account years ago but have a hankering for Minecraft, what is the current go-to launcher that can bypass authentication, if any? I don't care if it is unable to do multiplayer.

I'm aware of the /vg/ thread with its recommendations, just wanting a second opinion.

Both MultiMC and ATLauncher are open source and you can find cracked forks of them on GitHub.
