Basically it, think about, new enemy mobs aren't designed as challenges to be beaten and rather as obstacles to be avoided (Warden/Creaking), an issue that started with the Phantom.

Meanwhile passive mobs don't serve a major purpose like the core 4(cow/pig/chicken/sheep) and only add to bloat, funny that this issue could be pointed all the way back to the bat/squid, but then they served an actual "purpose", to test aquatic and flying mobs, shit really got bad with the biome specific ones that are somehow more useless than the parrot.

But all these new additions really nailed the core audience of Minecraft, and these are the streamers, now we all can enjoy "top 10 Warden jumpscares" and " best moments with my friend axolotl" types of video.

Argnes is probably seething over Vintage Story's bear armor.

Best nobody tells her which animals are hunted for their parts to be cooked into an aphrodisiac.

I'd argue that the bat at least has she utility of helping you locate dark caverns. Squids were never useless, they dropped ink sacs for dying shit.

The real useless passive/neutral mobs were wolves/dogs and ocelots/cats.

bold of you to assume they care about VS, so far only the people being bitchy at monjank seems the one to be trying to imply both games can compete.
they are probably more worried they can't monetize minecraft java due to contractual obligations because of the sale long time ago since roblox became the zoomer/alpha minecraft equivalent.
also agnes would like to know, she needs a reason to continue pegging the dev team because she's the one with the most testosterone of the entire studio.
or have you forgotten about the promotional video of the sniffer? them trying to hype a shitty useless rideable mob to try and find a decorative item every blue moon or so was peak soylent, happy ghast is obviously a streamer/youtuber mob.

I think Meinkraft should have more deep coal mining simulationism, since that's what half the game is

Gravel falls? Well, if you remove too many blocks that slate isn't going to just fall out of one whole, the whole roof will buckle on you. Hope you get out of the room in time.

Gas damp

Kettle bottoms: SLIGHTLY different looking from below, mine anwyhere near it and it loosens. Split-second audio cue before you're crushed. Problem: find one kettle bottom and you know there's probably a whole forest of them around you, like a minefield you've just set off.

Flooding kind of already exists (in that there are already aquifers), Minecraft just has its own liquid physics

I think these are genuinely good ways to gamify caves besides just more mobs. They're real things, but they also slot in easily.

These new mobs and blocks that only spawn in a specific biome or have extremely obtuse mechanics attached to them seem tailor-made for Youtube slop videos, "I collected 1 of every mob in Minecraft!", "I rebuilt every biome in Minecraft", that sort of shit.

Think about the hoops you need to jump through in order to get the sniffer (almost spelled it snigger on accident) and its two useless flowers, or how getting froglights requires you to get frogs in the Nether or magma cubes in the Overworld. These are the kinds of things that 99% of casual players will never care to do, but Hardcore Minetuber #34562 with Elytra and a raid farm's worth of totems of undying at his disposal? That's the perfect padding for his hour-long videos.

is this minecraft's equivelent of FPS game devs appealing to streamers? because is certinly seems like it.

Imagine considering to use lightblocks that aren't glowstone but came out of a frog's ass.

Also i just checked a froglight farm and it involves breaking through the nether bedrock above and staying 128 blocks further above to force the magma cubes to spawn in your designated shitting farming area.

Spending multiple hours building a farm for froglights < mining glowstone

I get the appeal of more light blocks because there aren't that many and most of them are orange/yellow, but digested magma cubes shat out by a frog are not it.

And pretty much all hostile mob farms need you to build them high up and afk 128 blocks above them to avoid mobs spawning outside the farm, the alternative is building redstone contraptions to blow a gigantic hole in the world, which is somehow even MORE autistic.

It seems odd to suddenly be adding new weapons with new mechanics to a game that has had barely any changes to its combat system for ages (other than the combat tests) in updates (or "drops") that are becoming less and less cohesive, focusing more on marketability/pastel color palettes, and increasingly relying on ideas from 10 year old mods (which are implemented awfully to fit in with 'vanilla', imo).

can't make an XP farm in a more accessible place
I used to just make a somewhat expensive recipe for a spawner, usually a nether star, 4 Crying Obsidian (give it a purpose) and 4 of a monster drop (Rotten Flesh for Zombie for example). If I'm on Fabric I use Spawners+ though it does work on Forge with the Connector.
The Creeper is the best designed mob in the game
Best part is that it was originally a mistake, Notch swapped the height and width values and it stared at the player, later someone joked that it should explode and low and behold.
YOGLABS IS FUCKING BACK
GET IN HERE MOTHERFUCKERS
waiting-waiting-forever.gif

13 technically, haven't been waiting either but still, super dope and will definitely watch it later.
New Trog video. I can't believe Kirkdroid got his priviledges checked by T&H wym*x!
There's balancing on the line, then there's break dancing on it. Bet his shit is archived as soon as it's uploaded.

Still on 1.20.12, did not know of the bear armor. Hell yeah.
The Spear is also another busted weapon like the Mace but they at least made some attempts at balance. Sure it was basically like a horizonal mace that can (almost) one-shot full enchanted Netherite armor but the charge that allowed this costs chunks of durability, and no mending so you'd have to burn resources for this power weapon.
Then they fucked it up by add mending to it later.

On the topic of biome-specific mob variants, are they just there for flavor or do they have actual variety in terms of drops/behaviors? A biome specific-cow variant like a bison or yak that drops more leather or meat but don't drop the other and aggro if you attack them would be nice.
