Hard to believe it is already about 15 years ago. He seemed to be part of that early wave of genuine regular nerds without any flash or pretense that appealed with slow content of just playing minecraft. Nothing polished or exaggerated much for the kids. A simple man stumbled into success. Made him feel sympathetic. Actually pretty shocking to me. Innocent until etc but I guess the fat minecraft YouTuber curse doesn’t miss. Too bad man.
ETA it’s fucking bad, if this reddit sourced warrant is the real deal. Warning, graphic description of abuse of BABIES

I always use this guy as the example of what happens when you go from huge youtube success to nothing and still keep going.
He was only a youtuber because he was bored, dude sold a web hosting business during the dot com bubble and made bank on it, and only did the minecraft stuff because he was pissed off at WoW.

Honestly it's kind of hard to enjoy Minecraft nowadays. For a game about "doing whatever you want" it's always the same repetitive gameplay.
1. Get wood
2. Build tools
3. Build house
4. Mine for resources
5. Build better tools.

Not really any other way to play it.
It's you, not the game dawg. But I get it. After this much time it's hard not to have your 'routine'.

Back when oceans were bigger I had a long game of being purely a nomadic ocean scavenger. No home, just boats until I had enough sea-geared kit from shipwrecks and fishing to be able to swim at mach 10.

I remember he went off his rocker a while ago and was streaming himself building a cabin and lived in it for like months. Dude had a daughter too, who knows what might have happened there... Pretty sure he's told stories about sexual abuse of family members before on stream, so it's sad he succumbed to the pattern.

In my experience parents and older adults who consume and trade CSAM know that they're fucked up and usually still have enough subconsciousness to be terrified at the thought of hurting kids they know. So they get into Telegram chats and consume CSAM vids as the "safer" alternative to molesting children IRL.

It's easy to feel some sympathy when it's spelled out like that but reading the descriptions of the videos Jason had just fills me with fucking rage. A weak man who refuses to see any way out of conquering his mental illness/trauma except indulging his carnal pleasures, at the expense of his family who now has to deal with the social and professional consequences of his behavior. They should put him under the jail.

Minecraft YouTubers
back in the day it was assumed at least a quarter of the minecraft youtube crowd was doing some shit like this or talking to kids. If it wasn't this guy, it would have been someone else in the group.
Well this seems more true then
Not sure where else to put this but I've been sitting on it for a little bit now, as I was told Samgladiator was working behind the scenes to bring the evidence out, and also because the evidence I have is ultimately scanty and relies on hearsay from one source.

Also

Same. I have a preference for taking over Mushroom Islands.

Comes in handy for mob farms especially because of the higher hostile mob spawns on land that sounds the ocean where the Islands are.

Which is weird because from what I remember he basically would just build castles and talk about moving his mother into a home, life stuff and other things kids don't care about. Either way, just look at the guy. Surprised it didn't come sooner.
That may have been how he started, but when he had all of the other people on his server, the collabs, marathons, their ultra hardcore stuff, that shit was all a huge draw for kids. There's even some replies here on KF about people watching him(presumably as kids), comments on videos, and other social media sites.

Look, you don't make videos playing minecraft and expect an audience of 35 year old men working a 9-5 no matter what you're talking about when punching blocks on a screen.
