Notch wasn't a lazy nigger or anything, he found ways to keep the same aesthetic while still making textures distinct. Basically everything in nature is from either from the dirt, stone or log texture, which just makes aesthetic sense. Wooden things look like they're made out of the literal wood. Stone things look like they're made out of the literal stone. They aren't fucking stock assets from triple A studios, they're 16x16 textures made by him.

Also, fuck Lena Raine's music, it sounds nothing like Minecraft. They should've stuck with c418.

The major difference is that C418 had an idea in mind for a game he liked, the other was hired to make slop.

To be fair to the Gender Neutrality part, it was Notch's original intention to not have any gender in the game originally. Fuck Mojang for killing the older lighting that looked pleasing to the eye for the new lighting that came straight out of Pocket Edition. Shaders kill so much soul and they are seemingly justified by people who want to flex their GFX cards, or people who enjoy adding a million QoL mods to their experience because they're so starved of that excitement brought on by how new everything was when they first played the game, so they need to fill the void.

I see it less and less in NuCraft video's, you used to see plentiful texture packs from everyone, from Yogscast's BDCraft or their use of John Smith or the very overused Faithful, which they've ruined by not being faithful to the original textures.
