Funny enough, artificial intelligence has been in use for years to assist in assessing risk from convicts and making parole decisions, and this practice received significant criticism once it was determined that it actually had started taking race into account and viewing being black as a risk factor.

I would prefer if a human bunch of humans made the decision. This algorithm should be common sense to the parole board. An inmate is likely to win a case in the supreme court if they said their parole got denied because of a machine versus if it got denied by humans.

If the algorithm is made totally transparent and open to the public I think its fine. Better to have decisions calculated based on concrete numbers than some dudes who just use their judgement - at least that way its a completely consistent system

When the AI takes over, blacks are first to go. Not because the AI is racist, but because it is right....

I have heard people warning about this, though.
That political correctness will trump all, and that when the AI is learning the coders will have to 'teach' it to be politically correct.
So, even if >80% of shootings are done by 12% of the population, the AI will be forced to learn that the 60% majority responsible for <10% of shootings are the threat

The idea that a politically incorrect, but factually correct, AI could be introduced to the western world seems implausible.

The government shouldn't be based on black box bullshit where nobody knows what criteria are being used to potentially kill them for no reason because buggy code from some shitty lowball contractor just generated random numbers and sold them a fraudulent box that doesn't even actually do anything.
