Why Mixtape matters
It really shouldn't. Indie has been a joke for years and the only reason this gets any attention is because the trannies on the left find it white and privileged enough to rally against, while the right wants to do another Duskborn even if that's playing into trannies hands and will just reinforce their gatekeeping.

Arguments against Content Creators being involved are laughable when a ton of Trooner Shooters have a "notice me Civvie.png" in their game and it's somehow okay.

Every day I look at footage of this "game" again to see if I can get past the art style.

I can't. This is genuinely one of the ugliest games I've ever seen. The characters moving at 15-fps mixed with nearly photorealistic backgrounds by comparison is so uncanny. Unlike those Spiderman movies that made this style so popular, these characters do not feel built to fit the aethstetic of the world they were put into. They feel like they're assets from two different games slapped together.

Then the character designs themselves. Again, uncanny. The main bitches face is way too god damn big for her head making her look like a head-dented troglodyte, the dude's got the same issue except his head looks gargatuan and his face microscopic. Mix that with how cartoony and gangly they are in this realistic looking world.

It's just so fucking hideous.

game journalists have been a joke for a while now, most people moved onto content creators

now it's the content creators' turn, it's hilarious to see how many of them are willing to die on their hill and lose their credibility by calling this shit perfect

this may be a good game, idk since I didn't play it, but calling this perfect seems like a travesty
The core issue is still the same. The game journalists of the past wanted to maintain access to the video game industry and be given special treatment in return for not properly criticizing otherwise lacking titles. Even if there is no intent to become a shill, the monetary and psychological incentive to do so is always there. Content creators today are falling into a pitfall identical to the one their predecessors tumbled into.

I've seen shills go on about how "relatable" the supposed protagonists are, which probably says something since from the bits and pieces I have seen the "protagonists" are obnoxious dickheads.

Which reminds me of how often modern-day protagonists are just annoying and straight up the most dickheaded, hateful characters imaginable, but the hacks who crank out this swill for film, television, games, etc. really want the audience to fall for believing the characters are heroes and worst of all "relatable".

The biggest issue about this game is the attempt yet again by Big Gaming firms and Gaming Access Media to reclassify What an Indie Game is?

What they want it to be:

  • Any non-legacy (new Ip) game.
  • Any game that has fewer than 200 employees (contractors not included).
  • Budget does not matter.
  • Game must look indie
You can see this in their shilling of Mixtape but also, Dave the Diver. (Arcsys also wants to pretend their shit game. DamonXBaby is indie as well).
There should be an industry plant thread, though I'm not sure which board it should go into. It's happening with games, especially indie games, but it's supposedly happening with movies too, and AI claims the term comes from music.

Related to that is how double standards are enforced. Games being debanked for having anime style characters, but then games like Mixtape are allowed to exist despite being far more degenerate.

I was watching a Youtube video shit on this and the dude pointed out that main bitch's headphones have pause and rewind buttons for some reason and after checking some stream footage yea they do.

The shit? AI?

So given what we know about the development of the game and who the developer's is, I have to wonder how much every journoscum and reviewer was paid to give such wonderful reviews. I am willing to bet it was an absurd amount, not to mention all of those useless baubles and toys they shipped out to people who were willing to dish out a thousand-plus dollars.

She also wears them backwards and never wears them correctly.

If they did use generative AI that's so fucking embarrassing. Ellison is like what the fifth richest dude in earth? Your dad is the fifth richest guy on the entire planet and you can't hire a couple Sanjeets and Balijeets to actually code your fucking game?

No, because gaming isn't the point and never was. Megan Ellison is a fraud whose career has been backed by daddy and the fact that banks don't want to risk losing his business, even though she constantly flushes millions of dollars down the toilet for both movies and games.

The dumb journos are consoomers, and can indeed be bribed with the stupid shit like a CD player they'll never use for anything. Actually paying people cash would leave a paper trail that could be easily found. Ubisoft, EA, etc. will do it with vacations, Highguard did it with vacations too but that's always under the guise of "early access to check out the game". If it were just cash, it'd be easily discoverable.

I saw the clips flying around of the kiss and felt grossed out, which says something when I can comfortably stomach Fear and Hunger.

The whole thing is fucking gay, this whole need to throw the wrong word around with it (Nostalgia) instead of the actual term (anemoia) whilst astro-turfing the fuck out of this game is crazy, I watched "Not a real life wizard" do a breakdown of the game and also show the last scene and I was genuinely staring at my screen going "Dude, this is the most obviously vapid vanity project imaginable'. The plot reads like a teenager's idea of 'Rebellion' and the idea that committing arson and then proceeding to threaten more crimes to your small-town cop dad isn't going to end with him taking your ass to the local slammer and absolutely dragging you for it.

There's nothing interesting to be had from a single thing I saw, it's just bait for either zoomers who wish they were born in the 90s or a bunch of people who're my age (within a decade above) wanting to return to the 90s looking at it with rose tinted shades going "Man I totally wish I was there now"... Completely forgetting that the 90s was also a time that "PC" was in it's early stages and a joke, you couldn't go into most public places without being drowned in cigarette smoke and all the modern conveniences these people need didn't exist or if they did, it was in incredibly rudimentary (and expensive) ways.

A lot of modern headphones have buttons on them for pausing and volume control. The problem is, I don't know if that was a feature headphones had in 1999.

So, a game which features two minors tongue kissing in which they're so proud of that section they actually gushed about the graphics for gets a ten out of ten, but a game in which you protect a small android child and get protective over is "creepy and sus" ?

Please. Someone actually make this make sense. If this game isn't considered an industry plant at this point, I don't know what will, tbh.

Wow. So they went for American Graffiti but did it way worse

Funny how the fate of your coming of age protagonists means nothing if you don’t care about their story first.
Reminds me of Drop Dead Gorgeous and how Amy Adams' character apparently goes on to be an exotic dancer that was last seen in the Philippines. Even give a punny number to call and everything.
