MMOs and my Experiment

Has EMu come far enough along that it's really playable? last I checked no quests were in the game. Also the massive drawback is this type of game requires a large player base to work. Emulated version of games usually don't have that.
EMU would be in what most games call beta, so yes. Really the only things missing are story quests (faction quests still exist) and some professions (like jedi, thank god) and the expansions like JTL or RotW. It's a completely functional game, and has a healthy playerbase.

The only MMO I've ever tried was Runescape. Yeah, its really inferior and simple, but thats what I liked about it. The only reason I don't play anymore is because it fries up my computer when I run it. Yeah, I don't have a gaming capable computer.

Why do they care if your copy is legit or not? Its out of print.

Because $OE wont have a reason to sue them. Apparently that was the saving grace when they almost got sued. I dont get it though, they aren't making any money, except donations. Which are used to keep the gaming running.

Because big companies like to spend money on quashing things that make them no money.

Especially if those things that make them no money compete with their things that do make them money.

LucasArts was very draconian about Star Wars, and was the reason SWG was shut down (even in it's terrible state) They only want one Star Wars MMO to avoid competing with themselves. Since SWG was run by SOE, I am sure they are required to go after SWG servers, even though it is a dead game. With Disney at the helm I am not sure how strict they will be about their IP. Likely even more strict.
