Modding, level creation, &/or rom hacking thread - The Vidya equivelant to Autistic Arts and Crafts

It was made over a year ago and most unfortunately, he never saw it. God knows he'd lose his shit if he did though.
Actually I linked that to him around the same time it was made and he refused to play it because he's a vanillafag.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. It's been a long time.

I have 2 modded systems: A PSP 1000 and a 2DS. the former I used to unlock the cheat code functions, patching Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions to both run better and have the original PS1 version aspect ratio, getting the Europe and Japan only DLC costumes of Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy(I had all of the US ones), and adding the PS1 version of Tales of Phantasia to my library. For the 2DS, I adding in a Save backing and restoring function, as well as a NES emulator to play games that will never appear on e-shop. I might eventually get patches for the 2DS to do stuff like restoring the music of Dragon Quest VIII among other things

I made a L4D2 mod replacing the Tank's voice clips with Ghost ranting. :woo:
I want to get into modding a bit more, but I don't really know where to start.
If you wanted to make any levels you could start with Hammer, that level editor for basically every Source engine game ever.

oh yeah that modding
I got a fliptop for a PS2slim and was able to make it work despite being a hardware revision behind the slim I had.

OMG Doom modding was the shit. My cousin actually gave me all sorts of wads when he installed Doom 2 onto my computer. I could never get sick of it back then. My favorite was "The Doom School."

Do you guys watch videos from guy called, A Jolly Wanker, on YouTube? He plays one of the most weirdest mods in games. Particularly skyrim, doom, and half life.

Here's an example, this is a video of a serious Sam 3 mod called serious horsam 3
Warning. The video contains stuff that cannot be unseen.

I've been playing around with J.A.C.K., a replacement for the Hammer editor meant for the Quake games up to HL1.

I have no idea how to design levels effectively, but it's a lot of fun. The editor is leagues ahead of Hammer in polish and stability too.

I hope it supports scripting and stuff, if any. I'd love to make a Terry trap for Quake 1. :P
Quake does support scripting through Quake C, which is why it's so infinitely moddable. I'm not going that far with it, but the option is there.

I've always wanted to look into that. Hopefully there's good tutorials out there. I just want to make Terry trap in it for the sake of it being done, no other reason at this point. The Quake community is too dead and too chill to fuck with lol

I've edited some save states and messed around with codes before in very old games. I could probably build more skill if I had the effort in me. I envy people making cool mods. I'm babby level.

I used to make Pokemon GBA rom hacks because the software was easy to work with. I tried working with the bethesda editors and just give it a big nope in the end, which is a bummer because I love map editing and just felt frustrated with all the garbage in the creation kit. Its like the new adobe CC suite. Everything is fucked up fam.

A game that I also had fun with modded levels with was Red Alert 2. I didn't get to dabble that much though, the fad of the game didn't last too long due to advancements in computers, etc.

But for nostalgia's sake, I'm downloading Red Alert 2 anyway. It was so much fun.

Please tell me you've played the mod Mental Omega. That shit is fantastic.

I have. It was pretty good, though had some fanfiction-ish level nonsense I could have done without, but that didn't ding how good it was too much regardless.

I'm keeping at my level design experiments. Compared to what some people can pull off with Quake nowadays, it's a bit quaint, but still:

Quake 1 lighting is the best.
