Modern Day Memes - and why they can be absolute garbage

The whole Milkshake Duck thing was exceptional.
I had totally forgotten. This is objectively the most forced shitty meme ever.

The worst forced memes are whatever is popular on reddit right now. People who think comedy = getting to be the one to repeat the thing you all know, unprompted and with zero context, they absolutely beat anything to death.

Remember that exceptional "but then I took an arrow to the knee" shit that was all over the internet in 2011.
Because that was one of the worst. The original line wasn't even funny to begin with.

I think it caught on because it's a weirdly specific line of random dialogue which is repeated ad nauseum throughout the game. It was Skyrim's "Stop right there, criminal scum!".

Anything ever posted on reddit

Also wojaks definitely in the list

It was apparently powerful enough to warrant Mattpat making a shitty theory about it.

Also it was meant to be something of a joke for history nerds, since the game has an old Norse theme occasionally the characters will use old Norse slang and terminology to refer to things. Like for instance some of the nords refer to bards as skalds, which is the Norse term for a bard. The arrow to the knee bit was actually meant to be a shoutout to an old Norse slang term, as back then "taking an arrow to the knee" meant you got married and settled down, or at least that's what I've heard. It's supposed to be something to make old Norse spergs chuckle, but the line itself came out sounding super awkward and it made it seem like all the guards are lovable autists.

Getting unreasonably annoyed at a meme you see often because you never get off the goddamn internet and assume normal people feel the same way is a tired and cringy forced meme.

All your base are belong to us. I used to be a meme hipster but then I took an arrow in the knee. It's hard to be original in current year, after all.

The fucking baby talk/pupper/hooman/doggo meme. I'm gonna go ahead and admit that it really gets on my tits more than any other unfunny reddit bullshit. I just find it incredibly aggravating when people type like dis and talk bout hoomans and danger noodle heckin snoot boop maloop.

I can name a few:

  • Chris Hansen, used when you basically have nothing clever or witty to say about creepy pedos.
  • 20% Cooler, never fully understood this meme in the first place
  • The infamous Rick and Morty copy-pasta, never funny to begin with.
  • Showing off the “cancer” of certain fanbases. Again, basically used when you don’t have anything original to say about a group of spazzes.
  • etc.
