Modern Web Woes - I'm mad at the internet

Welp, Discord is now policing off-site behavior (archive). Naturally they claim it's only for the most egregious offenses, i.e. anti-vaxxers (including any deviations from the State position on the sacred vaccines against the Shaolin Shakes), organized violence and child grooming (lol), and they'll graciously tolerate other offenses like drug charges and cheating on exams.

Surely there's no possibility they would ever abuse this or expand its scope to include things like "voted for Trump" or "didn't donate to Ukraine" or "misgendered a tranny" or (my favorite) "exposed Discord admin malfeasance and/or pedophilia."

Now though looks like YouTube decides that's actual playback and when you do open the video it will start at the spot the preview ended. It's actually the new feature, guess I left the mouse cursor hovering on the thumbnail at some point and youtube considers that as watching the actual vid.

you can turn that off in settings
just go into playback and performance and you should find it at the bottom where it says inline playback. switch it off and it should revert back to normal

In order to clock in my job, I have to use a two factor authentication via SMS in order to do so. Its really fucking retarded. What if your phone breaks? What if you no longer want to use a phone? What if you're unable to pay your bill? Decent amount of things can go wrong. I really despise the fact that smartphones are almost a need these days.

Not having 2fa is what led to ILJ eventually getting doxxed

When I first got the "My Mix" recommendation from YouTube with music I thought it was incredible. Heaps of new music that was new to me and that I really enjoyed.
But the next "My Mix" recommendation: The same music. Hmm OK. Then another.. but this time it was just the previous one with fewer songs..
Since then I've listened to lots of music on my own, but the "My Mix" thing is completely stuck in a loop and keeps recommending the same dozen tracks over and over.

The official React website went from supporting BLM to supporting Ukraine pretty much overnight. It was seamless.

virtue signalling like this has always been a thing on the internet, it's just that now there are ways to make it far louder and easier than ever before, along with benefits for those who do participate in the latest controversy.
e.g. gofundme made virtue signal campaigns a lot easier to pull off compared to the old method of sticking a paypal donate button on your page and updating a donation record on your webpage/database.
as for benefits, a successful virtue signal campaign will get you a ton of publicity and good press coverage, money too if you're taking a small cut of the donation money under the table.

Also what I've noticed is that although I sometimes watch videos that go against The Narrative™, vids like them never get recommended by the YT algorithm on the homepage.

Those fuckers have been around since before tiktokwas a thing. It's a hilarious yet also annoying genre of clickbait that I'm surprised went fucking mainstream last year or so due to the tiktok fuckers latching onto it. Chris was oneof the people that bought into that shit unironically. Like yeah woahit'd be cool and all if you could LITERALLY BEND REALITY TO YOUR WILL via shitty audio trackswith rapid fire quiet text to speech in the background but yeah that shit just don't work. tiktok guys copeby claiming they shifted in a dream or whatever but like that's not how it works.

Those guys legit seem like they'd sign up for whatever inane shit that spirit science dude's got going.
