Modern Web Woes - I'm mad at the internet

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
How the fuck can the tranny kikes over at kiketube actually land a stable job when they keep making fucking AWFUL UI decisions one after the other?
First they completely fucking ruined the info card at the top right in videos by having it show up in the description rather than opening it on the side like it used to.
And now they completely fucking removed both the About and Channel tabs on YT Channels for god knows what reason. Now you have to instinctively click on the side of a youtuber's description on the side of their pfp to see the about tab instead of just clicking on the about tab like it always was and no one had a fucking issue with it.
Oh and not to mention they have this gay faggot thing where they added a "For You" videos section on a person's Home tab for mobile, so that IF you wanted to swip to the Videos tab, you will be gladly interrupted by the For You videos taking priority and swiping through their "recommended videos from them" to you

I fucking hate modern web designers bros, it is unfathomably unreal.
TOTAL WEBDEVTROON DEATH

I needed to check something out on Facebook and visited the site for the first time in a couple of months, and it's now so bogged down with javascript shit that it was unusable, and I had to browse it using the HTML-only version (mbasic.facebook.com). I couldn't remember the URL, and a Google search turned up nothing but AI generated spam and articles from Wired and the like about the Facebook Lite app, so I went to the site on my phone with javascript turned off and was redirected to the right place. When I tried that trick on my PC browser the site just broke. I really, really hate the internet.

The engines of search appear to have a real hard-on for hiding KMFDM lyrics. Amazing how nobody anywhere ever has written on the Internet the words "We are the ones you love to hate". Or any number of other phrases I heard in today's MATI outro. No joy until a chyatter pointed out it was "feed our fame" (not fate like I was hearing), and for whatever reason that phrase is recognized by the high priests who filter and interpret God's word for the lowly, uneducated and untrustworthy peasants like myself.

When you searched it, did you actually type in "We are the ones you love to hate" just as I did there with quotes included? When I just tried on Google the top result (Genius) was for KMFDM, as well as the fourth (SongMeanings) and fifth (AZLyrics) results.

Without quotes though it's retarded as it gives a Rob Halford song as the top results.

I never use Google (sorry to sound like a vegan). DDG and Bing both insisted it was nowhere to be found, Bing at least offering a closest match of the Halford song. And yeah that was with quotes, which like + and - appear to work only occasionally and only to the extent that the Gods of Search deign to allow at any given moment.

I hereby withdraw everything and anything I may have hitherto said or thought about modern framework-wrought, JavaScript-fraught, sluggish, unwieldy website monstrosities; for you see, I have today chanced upon a humble blog made in Flutter Web.

And this humble blog outslugs and outunwields them all.

Has facebook always looked this shit? I logged in to check something for the first time in a while and it looks fucking awful, all shitty and washed out with too muchg stuff all over the screen

I don't know what it is, but it bugs me out when a site is clearly meant to have a vertical format and the horizontal scrollbar is active. It's almost always some retard who took a template off GitHub and added a huge ass image as an endnote, or some headass framework element that has both a margin and its width set to 100%. It is not hard making a website that is the correct width. It is extremely easy to debug in any modern browser, and the fact that people can't just get it right shows the laziness of the average web designer.

That Alexa site report thing is down, replaced with that "digital oracle" by Amazon.

Are there any sites out there like it that work for free and tell stuff like where visitors come from the most and a site's ranking?

For those of you who want to see modern web UI designers boiled in chinese gutter oil, some browser addons I've been enjoying for a couple of months:
Youtube Redux : "Replicate old YouTube look and features within the modern layout" - rough around the edges, but has a lot of nice settings like square avatars and feature hiding (no more fucking shorts)
GoodTwitter 2 : "A try to make Twitter look good again." - similar to yt redux, square avatars, feature hiding, set "Following" as the default feed, etc

(I'm retarded and had no idea whether or not to post this in the software endorsements thread since these technically aren't software)
I think GoodTwitter 2 stopped working a while ago, I'm using OldTwitter now

It sucks when a page has an annoying layout -- or worse, some popup blocking the view (asking to sign in or agree to a TOS or whatever) -- and when one turns page style off to bypass that BS, there's endless gigantic "social media" icons (maybe they're SVG images?) one has to scroll past to get to the stuff on the page one wants to see.

That's when you fire up that poor old sad neglected copy of Lynx. It's so gratifying to see its joy when it realizes you haven't forgotten about it.

Firefox has the "reader view" button in the address bar for most sites. It usually works rather well to get around this problem, as long as the markup is formed well enough to tell it what to use (or there's a large enough lump of content to extract).

Companies requiring 2FA that won't let you use their services unless you provide a cellphone number, I had a burner phone for this purpose but the number was revoked and I permanently lost access to some accounts.
Another issue is that burner phones are more prone to be assigned recycled numbers. So sometimes you sign up for a service using that number from a new burner phone not knowing that it was recently recycled from "unused" numbers. Then they instantly ban the account for some sort of spam or 'too many accounts are tied to this number' reason because that number was used to register a bunch of accounts previously.

Can't you switch it to TOTP after you register the account?

I started switching a lot of those accounts authenticator app 2fa, most of which have a desktop version. Sadly not all of the accounts of mine that require it allow authenticator apps. Some of them are phone required.
