Modern Web Woes - I'm mad at the internet

Spent hours doing web design on a new layout only to realize I designed it for myself, not the audience. Even with responsive design, desktop first doesn't cut it when 70% of traffic is mobile. Scrapping the project to start mobile first. It feels like a step back, but it's the only way to build for the masses.

I'm literally going to be looking at a phone screen sized width simulation instead of taking advantage of my entire monitor, IDK if it's more funny or sad.

EDIT: @HRT Heisenberg checkout somafm for easy listening work/study radio.

Librewolf now hides the protocol (if it's HTTPS) and the subdomain (if it's WWW) instead of displaying the address I am actually at (e.g. I am currently on kiwifarms.st, not https://www.kiwifarms.st). Which moron came up with this? I do not have accurate information displayed; anytime I go and edit it, it transforms (sometimes as I'm clicking) into the accurate address - meaning I don't even go into the part I wanted to go into. Complete UI fail that must've come with a recent update.
Also LMFAO I haven't changed my search engine over to searxng on this computer yet, this is fucking hilarious. If this is how the masses get their information now we are so fucked hahahhaha.

Edit: Honorable mention is, that whenever I hold my mouse clicked on a link for a while, it tries to display a preview? It fails every time, I have no idea who wanted this either. I can see where I'm going from the address in the bottom left (while holding my cursor on the link) already. A little window showing the site won't tell me anything - I doubt I'll be able to read the text, once it starts working...

I think that might just be a Firefox thing, my Firefox browser is doing the same and I don't change settings from the defaults apart from privacy ones. I hadn't noticed it because I'm not gigantically autistic about it, but it is odd.

It started with chrome, because Google are retards who thought that the http/s prefix was "confusing" for users. Mozilla decided to copy the behaviour in Firefox, because they're also retards, so all the downstream ff forks have it as well.

Holy shit who is the faggot spamming underneath it? "Nomad of the interwebz", go outside, holy fuck.

YouTube and a bit of DeviantArt if you wish to delve into my roots which go all the way to early mid 2010s. If you want to talk modern, there was Twitter (it was ass), Mastodon (I did jackshit, ass), still DeviantArt (ass, have an account to bypass a login wall, but use it to post some of my shit too because why not) and Bluesky (to bypass a login wall, also ass).

I should have checked if this was posted here already, lol. Now I feel wierd for crediting someone from posting somehing that has been here before.

I am sure this has already been mentioned so I apologize in advance. Does anybody like me listen to ambience or just in general music with minimal lyrics while working/studying? On YouTube there have been a lot of good labels and playlist channels for specifically this and I have been listening to it for what has to be almost a decade now.
I can't recall if someone recommended it here or I found it elsewhere, but I've used NightRide FM and some other Lofi YouTube channels because the background music seems to help me get into a productive groove during the day.

I've had videos turn out to be part of what seem to be auto-collated playlists where the end of one video immediately leads to another video I might not necessarily be interested in. I've also seen some odd recommendations off to the right of the video, but I largely attribute those to the algorithm prioritizing stuff that's currently trendy/popular even if I'm not interested in it or it's little more than AI slop for the masses.

checkout somafm for easy listening work/study radio.
I'll also recommend SomaFM. This has become my primary go-to ever since I saw it mentioned elsewhere on the site.

It's amusing reading about this kind of topic being written about not by the supposed author but copied straight from a large language model. Just on par with contemporary web woes, people might have something to say (I won't comment on the actual content), and waste all intent and purpose through improper use of a tool. Ending it with that "The old internet is dead, and zoomers killed it [...] They've created a cargo cult that worships the appearance while rejecting the substance [...]" is good comedy, what was the thought process? So many writers potentially going to waste is awful to think about.

On YouTube there have been a lot of good labels and playlist channels for specifically this and I have been listening to it for what has to be almost a decade now.

Recently in the past few months I am getting increasingly recommended videos with less than 30 views in a "ambient" or "fantasy" (I don't even listen to "fantasy") or whatever else is generic. The videos are always a one hour or longer playlists with droning generic instrumentals that are so forgettable that you literally cannot tell when the current song ends and the next one begins. You click on the channel and they are uploading a new "playlist" literally 4 times a week. Meanwhile actual playlist channels can go months without uploading because you know, they are human.

No song names, no artist, no external links on the channel, producing an inhuman amount of music that all sounds the same. Across hundreds of different channels with no video viewed more that 30 times and yet somehow these videos make up half of my recommendations at times? Yes the AI niggers have come to steal another comfy corner in my life that up until now has remained constant and unchanging all for that sweet sweet no effort revenue, I hold the deep desire to Minecraft that one pajeet making 1 shekel a month from this who surely makes up at least half of these channels.

Seriously has anyone else noticed that no matter how hard you try to avoid these recommendations they just never stop now? Has anyone noticed that a concerning proportion of users somehow think that this complete rape of human information and the Internet as a whole is somehow an okay way to behave as a society? How is everyone else coping? And please support total AI nigger death in every aspect of your life.
Yea just wanted to complain about this. Searching/looking up music and trying to find new music is impossible. 90% of all music everywhere now is just Ai slop.

Look at this channel! It uploads 5h videos full of generic no-name ai-slop. Comments are all bots.

Spotify is unusable! 15 mins in you WILL have aislop recommended to you! It's unusable!

I'm so glad there's 1000s of American people having to pay $1000 a month for electricity and getting no water, so that a jeet somewhere can just spam this kind of videos on Youtube and make $20 a month. We are trading valuable water and electricity so that asians can spam Social Media with this shit.

It's amazing how much the zoomers in both the screenshots and the comments behave like Pajeets. Can't just acknowledge that there is a flaw in their thinking and that it doesn't necessarily indicate that they have no value or are inferior to the person criticizing them. No, it has to be a fucking sperg out.

its not really a lain fan forum, moreso just a general tech forum meant to be "like the good old days", it also hosts an XMPP, IRC and mumble servers as well as a server for modded minecraft alpha, openRA (red alert) and open arena
i really like it

also the blogpost has a sequel
>the massive fucking tracking cookie banner before you enter
MY GOD, yeah that forum sucks. Paying fucking 10$ a fucking month for goddamn CSS is atrocious. I'd make my own autistic web forum where you can do whatever the hell you please with custom CSS profiles and shit but I - a) Don't trust you faggots and faggots everywhere to behave and not post CP, b) Don't trust you faggots to not DOS my server. Both have happened to me in the past, not fun. I don't want to pay for a host because I don't trust them to host my shit after I get into a large scale infrastructure with a bunch of people saying NIGGER FAGGOT RAPE constantly.

Hello again

Is it just me or have package tracking emails gone out of control lately? Every time I order something, it seems like the storefront, the seller, and the package carrier are all set up to spam me every time the package moves one step in the system.

Shopify: Your order from Velveeta has shipped!
Velveeta: Your order #49854398 has shipped!
UPS: Package from VELVEETA INC is on its way!

Ugh.

This is the pettiest complaint ever but has anyone grown tired of every youtube song/music video having the top comment of "Who's here in 20xx?". Without fail every single time? Nigger of course someone is here in current year, why the fuck else do you think viewcounts increase linearly for every YouTube video?

I understand it's such a minor complaint but when you see the same comment thousands if not tens of thousands of time it makes you just want to throw a rock at them in Minecraft.

It's not petty. It's just attention/dopamine farming. Unremarkable people with little in their lives. NPC's. They like $x, so maybe other people will like them for liking $x?
Maybe we will just hold their heads in the toilet and keep flushing it. These are the same people who wear t-shirts with their political beliefs printed on them. Bumper stickers on their cars.
Hoping when they bend over someone will poke their kidneys with an appendage out of the porn industry.

Yes x 10,000

I call them idiots when I have the energy, but this is just another negative byproduct of social media.

The worst is that you can't really report them, but even if you did, would Google really do anything about it? (Hint: No.)
