He was reported to have sped through the hospital to the toilet only to find the seat Down, due to the position he was in, he was unable to lift the seat.
One of the doctors that was treating him and removing the faeces has been quoted as saying "It is very unfortunate, he was a lovely man and it was a pretty shitty situation for him to be in."

Bit of :powerlevel: here but I worked at a nursing home for a while and I'm not surprised one bit that somebody died in the hospital from this sort of negligence. I'm sure they weren't even thinking about it, just happy they had a detail that didn't involve wiping up shit. I had tons of clients who had bed sores, or who needed large necrotic wounds to be cleaned on a daily or bi daily basis because nobody ever tried to turn or properly ambulate them. I just hope this hospital gets sued out the ass for this, every nurse who ever walked past his room is probably going to end up losing their job.
It's the NHS, the UK's free healthcare so yeah...:optimistic::optimistic::optimistic:

It's not really apparent from the article that the hospital did anything outside normal standards of care.

The primary failure here seems to have resulted from there being no reassessment of the suitability of his care facility when it changed from being a care home to a supported accommodation facility, and the accommodation facility not taking action to obtain appropriate medical care (it was the family who took him to hospital).

Opiate addicts also sometimes die from fecal impaction and what amounts to exploding bowels. They usually die on the toilet when something ruptures.
Ain't Nothing But A (shit) Mound Dog.

Some people don't even know whether to shit or wind their watch. This guy couldn't even shit on his watch.
