holy shit finally. Monster Humper is my shit but Rise felt like a step backwards from World in so many ways. I was hoping they would go back to the "next generation" feel for the next game, i.e. huge seamless zones and shit, the mounts are one cool idea Rise had that I'm glad they're carrying over

TBF, Worldborne was going to be a near impossible act to follow.

My worry is that they try to make it open world and not just big instances like World. That aside, looks neat but outside of showing that there is a mount and it's very mobile, not much else to glean yet. I played the everliving fuck out of World, but never got to Iceborne (though this is more that all of my shit is in PS4 and now that I just play in PC can't be assed to do the core campaign again) nor Rise since these games are very time consuming, I just never got to them. Might give me an excuse to latch on for another romp.

I loved World but never got around to trying Rise. I'm cautiously hopeful. Unfortunately, most of the group I played with back in World has drifted off, so it'll probably just be back to randoms, but as long as the core gameplay is still solid, I'll be pretty happy to throw a couple hundred hours hammering monster skulls.
I hope we get a character that's more Serious Handler and less normal Handler. I ended up liking the former more.

It made my peepee big.
Like most my introduction was world and I have hundreds of hours(if not breaking 1000) across multiple platforms. I enjoy rise and I still play it on occasion though I can understand the criticisms and I often agree.

Now here are my hopes for wilds.
The mount potentially helps out with combat similar to the palamutes in rise. Palicos are great but I wouldn't mind having JUST this chicken thing
There is multiple kinds of mounts(although I severely doubt this will happen its probably a set design)
Maybe one or 2 new weapon types(again I don't think this will happen but I think something fresh for combat would be nice)
And finally that if it is just entirely open world and not zoned like it has been then it doesn't suck dick.

Overall of course I'm excited but 2025? Really? Why did you even fucking show it? I hate when studios do this shit.

It's open world so it will run like shit and also needlessly add travel time between the actual fun parts of Monster Hunter which is fighting the monsters. I already hated the main hub of World for making me run up the stairs hundreds of times cumulatively over a playthrough just to get to the smith. Open world is not appropriate for this type of game. How is holding the analog stick for an extra few minutes to get to the hunting area better than just having a menu to drop me in to start hunting? What was missing from World and Rise that open world will fix?

Hopefully the actual "hunting" aspect of mh gameplay that has always been kinda shit?.
What do you mean by this? Are you referring to the part where you have to actually find the monster inside the level? It can be tedious. However I will admit I feel nostalgia for running around looking for the monster and then trying to land a paintball on them before they start attacking me.

Ultimately for me the fun part of Monster Hunter is the fighting the monster. Positioning, timing my attacks, finding time to use items to recover from status effects, learning the patterns and going from 30 minute hunts to sub ten minutes, etc. I want TMD. Anything that adds extra time between combat encounters with monsters I think is a bad thing. That's my opinion.

Precisely, monster tracking and stuff.

If the areas are as consistently expansive as shown in the trailer, the monster will probably remain engaged within said area, instead of retreating every 5 min

The raptor mount looks really cool but I'm holding out until we see more. I don't want a gimmick that we are required to do to play the game like the clutch claw and wirebug moves. Though the switch skills from Rise can stay since I loved some of the new Lance moves.

As a boomer who started with Tri I'm still hoping for underwater combat to come back. I want the return of Lagiacrus and Gobul in the deeps where they belong. I'd also rather have siege monsters again over the rampages.

As for it feasibly being one huge map I feel it can work if there is a camp or at least fast travel point fairly frequently. Both World and Rise essentially required you to build all the camps to get to monsters quickly so I doubt they'll roll that back. I think they mostly understand that endgame after the gear grind is just speedrunning.

'Video Games are art' fags can suck my dick. Video games are power fantasies about fighting dragons with a cool sword and anything else is a mistake.

Really hope they don't bring back the grapple hook and softening mechanic from IB back. Shit was wack.

RIP to all the dummies who said it wouldn't be World 2. Looks good, can't wait to kill more monsters 👍

If it's coming out in 2025, then it better be an actual finished product. I'm still mad that Rise released without a final boss.

Im hoping for a decent deluxe version for this. World, Iceborne, Rise, and Sunbreak all had shit special editions. Put some decent collectibles in there, not just skins for the game ffs.

The arenas exist for that.

You mean that part that is only fun the first couple of times for each monster and after that you just know where too beeline to fuck the critter up? Hunting must be made fucking amazing on repeat hunts for me to buy that full open world will be anything but detrimental. Well that or I happen to have a smith and a cook in my backpack so I don't have to constantly fly back to base anyway making the whole point moot. If exploring Monster Hunter was a one and done sort of deal, having it open world could be cool, but we all know it's about the grind and anything that slows the grind will become a problem.

And just this is making me think I won't play this till 2026 anyway, buying a base Monster Hunter means you get drip feed the experience. Though on the other hand it did manage to keep me coming back till the most powerful version of Nerogigante prior to Iceborn release... who knows.
