BEIRUT, Sept 17 (Reuters) - More than 1,000 people, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, were wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded across Lebanon, security sources told Reuters.
A Hezbollah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the detonation of the pagers was the "biggest security breach" the group had been subjected to in nearly a year of war with Israel.
Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the Gaza war erupted last October, the worst such escalation in years.

The Israeli military declined to comment on Reuters enquiries about the detonations.
Iran's Mehr news agency said the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was injured by one of the blasts. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report.
A Reuters journalist saw ambulances rushing through the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, amid widespread panic. A security source said that devices were also exploding in the south of Lebanon.

At Mt. Lebanon hospital, a Reuters reporter saw motorcycles rushing to the emergency room, where people with their hands bloodied were screaming in pain.
The head of the Nabatieh public hospital in the south of the country, Hassan Wazni, told Reuters that around 40 wounded people were being treated at his facility. The wounds included injuries to the face, eyes and limbs.
The wave of explosions lasted around an hour after the initial detonations, which took place about 3:45 p.m. local time (1345 GMT). It was not immediately clear how the devices were detonated.

Lebanese internal security forces said a number of wireless communication devices were detonated across Lebanon, especially in Beirut's southern suburbs, leading to injuries.
Groups of people huddled at the entrance of buildings to check on people they knew who may have been wounded, the Reuters journalist said.
Regional broadcasters carrying CCTV footage which showed what appeared to be a small handheld device placed next to a grocery store cashier where an individual was paying spontaneously exploding. In other footage, an explosion appeared to knock out someone standing at a fruit stand at a market area.

Lebanon’s crisis operations center, which is run by the health ministry, asked all medical workers to head to their respective hospitals to help cope with the massive numbers of wounded coming into for urgent care. It said health care workers should not use pagers.
The Lebanese Red Cross said more than 50 ambulances and 300 emergency medical staff were dispatched to assist in the evacuation of victims.

Hezbollah fired missiles at Israel immediately after the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas gunmen on Israel. Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire constantly ever since, while avoiding a major escalation as war rages in Gaza to the south.
Tens of thousands of people have been displaced from towns and villages on both sides of the border by the hostilities.

From OSINT

What we know so far:
- Explosion happened simultanously
- Explosions didn't only happen in Lebanon, but in Syria too so it's a long range to be wireless detonation signal.
- The pager is 'Rugged Pager AR924' produced by a Taiwanese company
- Small Li-Ion battery, can't explode that big
- None of the pagers caught fire, which is common incase of a battery 'explosion' rather they just exploded.
- However the pagers did heat up before
- All exploded pagers were the same model of pager.
- The pagers came from one shipment

Also pretty shitty headline considering this was an attack that could only hit Hezbollah members

Video of the attacks

The only way to fight the Islamic entity is through shows of strength and terror directed specifically at their military wing. They will not fight on the same terms as a western military, you cannot expect them to do that. They'll hide behind civilians, they'll blend in the crowds, they'll cause untold deaths amongst their own population just to spare their own lives.

If you go after their civilians, they'll milk it for PR points with the liberal smoothbrains. (as some are attempting here)
If you try to be diplomatic with Islam, they'll see it as weakness.
If you try to reason with Islam, they'll see it as weakness.
If you try to offer Islam a compromise, they'll see it as weakness.
If you try to appeal to shared values with Islam, they'll see it as weakness.

Only terror. Only strength. And directed specifically at their top military brass. They need to piss themselves in terror every time they hear an electronic beep or see a shadow overhead.

all you really need to know about the muzzies like black spruce trying to run defense of their dick less brethren in here.
Lmao you can't even beat the Houthis. How do you expect to beat the entire muslim world? Yes how bad would it be if the US fucked off? Remember the huge series of Taliban terrorist attacks on American soil after Biden pulled out? I don't, either.

It's amazing people here can't see the precedent this opened and it's about this exact part I've boldened in your reply.
i'm rating you dumb because you are making a false comparison, you nigger. it wasn't every pager being shipped out of the factory in bucharest. it wasn't every pager being shipped INTO lebanon. it was a specific shipment of pagers and radios, 5 months ago apparently, that were intercepted. you have still not acknowledged this. you have not acknowledged the lynchpin of this is that the radios and pagers were destined for hezbollah, and that is why they were sabotaged. if your enemy puts an ammo dump in the middle of a crowded city, and you sabotaged the ammo on the way to the dump 5 months ago, your enemy had 5 months to not have that ammo in a crowded city anymore, and moved to a place where no civilians would be harmed if the war they're involved in caused the ammo dump that they have to go off.

that's why it's against the rules of war to do what hamas and hezbollah do when they have non-uniformed fighting forces storing military equipment in civilian structures. they know there are supposed to be rules of war protecting those things, but their enemy knows that those places are now being used by the military in an attempt to prevent their insurgency from succeeding. ultimately, both sides are putting civilians at risk every single day, but one side is fighting against declared wars from all the other sides, and those terrorist organizations who declare war on the jew could just as easily move their tunnels out of major cities, move their bases out of cities, put uniforms on their soldiers. they just know that when they do those things, the mossad would likely start picking them off instantly.

they have made the choice to abuse the rules of war protecting civilians because they are aware they are a fighting force significantly weaker than their opponent in a traditional confrontation. that doesn't justify them putting their civilians in harm's way, but as we all know, without any work at all, muslims will use women and children as human shields. it's documented, but nobody wants to acknowledge it here either. that's why i accuse you all of being muzzies, not wignats.

Funny thing is, the more people claim that EVERY device has a bomb in it now, the more it benefits Israel. Keep Hezbollah afraid, bros. They need to shit themselves whenever they pass by a Radio Shack. They need to remember that if they're part of Hezbollah, every text message, or phone call, or a microwaved meal can be their last.

"Oh assalamaleikum, would you like to open your heart to our all-mighty Allah, who's the most peaceful God ever and definetely-not-a-goat-fucker. That wasn't a question, open the fucking door, you infid-"

Rate me and otterly dumb all you like, it's still a fucking terror attack to lace a countries entire supply of a single electronic tool with fucking explosives indiscriminately.
This isn't sabotaging ammo or leaving booby trapped zero timer fused grenades in supply depots you left to the enemy, the ww2 equivalent would be putting torpex into Bell's supply of bakelite so that every phone in america would explode randomly in order to target army command staff..
It wasn't indiscriminately, it was specifically stuff owned by Hezbollah.

And apparently this has been going on for a while because there are reports of "old pagers" popping now.

Has anyone checked if there is suspiciously cheap new listings of lithium-ion battery powered stuff on E-bay or similar?

The Israelis believe they are fighting a war for their very existence. They believe the end justifies the means. Since they believe Hezbollah has thoroughly infiltrated Lebanon and Syria, the Israelis planned to spread the injuries and deaths around.

Gotta admit I was very surprised to see so many pagers in use. Personally can't remember the last time I saw a pager, now superseded by the cell phone.

Don't bother. The IDF ball lickers are in full force today.
man you guys are my favorites. i've said a few times that if the IDF were the ones who got their balls exploded i'd be laughing just as hard, and frankly harder because of how big a security breach it would be. you niggers are just too obsessed with the jews to see that some people don't care who they're laughing at. this is the kiwifarms, bro, not /pol/. if you miss being able to find 90 threads about kikehate per second, go back you fucking rapefugee.

these two things are related. they had the pagers because they were part of hezbollah. did you read the article?

14 dead + 450 wounded from the explosions today:
Lebanon's health ministry raises the death toll of the walkie-talkie explosions in Lebanon today to 14.

Another 450 were wounded in the blasts, the health ministry says. The explosions had targeted communication devices used by Hezbollah,

In yesterday's Hezbollah pager explosions, 12 people were killed and some 2,800 were wounded, according to the ministry.

Israel and Muslims are perfect for each other. Forever terrorizing everyone in their proximity.

If there was only a way to wall off both ethnic groups in the same desert together and let them fight each other to death with no rules. The problem arises when they leave their containment desert and spread their violent faggotry across the globe.

The explosions had targeted communication devices used by Hezbollah,
what is the source of this statement? i don't doubt it, i'm just curious who said it. lebanon official statement? if that's true, maybe some of the people here can read that it's straight from lebanon that the devices targeted belonged to hezbollah.

PETN is mixed with plasticiser to make plastic explosives. It’s one of the more fragile ones but like oil spill says it’s not easy to ignite at 1atm with heat. Which implies detonator was used rather than simply making the battery overheat. Is the battery overheating idea being pushed as a psychological one? Or can you mix PETN with something else to make it go boom with heat alone?

Apart from the disinformation / psychological angle, such a technique might be easier to conceal than having a physical detonator. I’m still skeptical though, surely miniaturisation of these has happened as with everything else. I mean if they have them in the form factor of a capacitor that could be placed on the battery PCB, against a stripe of C4 hidden inside the battery pouch, there’s no way in hell you’d spot that from an x-ray or physical tear down.

All that said, how hard would you even need to try to conceal it - does hezbollah have a CSI style technical forensic lab? Did they bother to inspect these at all?

I’ve seen people on Twitter crowd fund radios and shit for Ukraine, that always makes me wince, it’s just inviting gayops.

This makes me think the pager deliberately rang to get the carriers attention to check it in order to cause max hp damage... Has this been confirmed anywhere? If so it'd require more than just a timed explosive and more a 'backdoor', in which a code is texted.... Sorry... 'paged' to them in order to set it off
Yet another fun twist, if true. Be actually competent, get your head blown off, be a lazy faggot, get your yarbles yeeted.
