Maybe that's why they went from teasing MK 0 with The Great Kung Lao and a potentially decent story that's been begging to be told since MK3... to this Marvel multiverse garbage with a plot that seems like it was written on a napkin in 15 minutes and rushed out the door; they were forced to make a new MK rather than I3.

Not like I3 will be any better. It will never be better until they cleanse themselves from the trannies, hire proven-success DC (ex)writers, and let Ed Boon's gooner lust for scantily women return full blast.

All faults are by both Boon and Dominic, because they lost grasp on whichever would do to genuinely resurrect Mortal Kombat from its rotten grave. It should've stayed fucking dead instead of being beaten up like a zombie cow just to get a least bit of milk remaining whilst shit flopped. Even if the Mortal Kombat 2 shitshow movie came out, the damage is already done since the arrival of MK1. No point for Injustice 3 anyway because of WB and NR's severe incompetence without Tobias.

Even Tobias is aware of his very own co-production and worldbuilding are abandoned for the sake of profit and knew Boon sold his soul to Warner Cucks. The main bread and butter of MK is Tobias' worldbuilding structure, tits, stripper ninjas, palette swap ninjas, not always over-the-top gorefest. NR chose the latter, and especially Dominic pull the Multiverse bullshit, Guest Character bullshit, DEI bullshit Megan Fox and Lousy Rousey out of his scrotum and that's how it is. It's no wonder why later MK lore was so dry, soupy, people alienated themselves from NR and Warner Jews and made their own twist of Mortal Kombat instead (including me).

It's just tiring.

I'm so fucking sick of MK shoving guest characters in every experience now. I literally do not fucking care. There's so much lore and so much unexplored shit.. "YO, LET'S PUT FUCKING HOMELANDER AND OMNIMAN IN MORTAL KOMBAT". Two completely overpowered characters on their own that don't even make sense in context with the universe.

It's a hot take, but I'm tired of guest characters in general. They shouldn't belong in stories like Akuma in Tekken 7 because guest characters will wind up in copyright Hell devs and studios don't want to deal with unless it's profitable. Games like Fatal Fury and Street Fighter shouldn't be using guest characters unless it's from other IPs their respective companies own. I don't mind if a company mascot like Sonic would be a guest character in a Sega fighting game if it's a one-time thing that makes sense, but Salvatore and Conan?! Really? We didn't need Terry and Mai in Blackrock Fighter 6. NRS and Bamco went full retard with Smash when it came to guest characters.

Not sure how much of a hot take it is. Crossovers seem to be to try and increase the audience, and while it is successful (I bet T7 got a large boost from Akuma), I think its not often popular with the original core audience. Only real reason I can see an MK fan wanting a guest character VS a MK character is because at least the guest won't be bastardized. I will say at least the characters aren't breaking the game like how Tekken's guests seem to do. Fatal Fury did get pushback for shoving in two real people, but I bet there will have to be a real crash for all the companies to at least slow down the numerous collabs.

Will be curious to see what new gimmick they come up with if Injustice 3 is next. Clearly "sidekicks" was a stupid idea so hopefully not that.

This is the biggest problem with it. At least the faggotry in MK isn't canon. Making SF apart of Tekken was a true retard moment in the series. His fighting style obviously was alien to Tekken, but I think Geese weirdly fit since he's a grappler and not just a SRK and hado spammer.

Could ask the same of many guest characters. I'm sure the two evil superman clones brought in players, but are all the old horror movies really going to bring in players? Guess its hard to tell. There is only so many franchises that will let you kill their characters, considering they can often be even more protective (Noctis can't be involved in certain winposes where he'd get beaten up). At least MK vs. DC did damage enough that they probably won't try it again, especially considering the gore is all the franchise has left.

At this point, they wouldn’t give ten shit about fixing the game’s jankiness or what makes it a general flop. It’s just the same shit but with “tweaks” trying to “regain” its popularity again to par with Tekken 8 or Street Fighter 6.

There's so many reasons I would say Mortal Kombat 1 flopped. For one thing the game doesn't seem to be that radical of an improvement from MK11 which has a roster nearly twice the size of MK1. And the whole total universe reboot thing just ticks my autism. Like Mortal Kombat 9's storymode is still my favorite storymode of any fighting game because it's essentially a retelling of the MK 1-3 saga and it has a lot of fanservice for people like me who read Mortal Kombat lore as kids. Like this cutscene was so cool to me a decade ago.

I can admit it hasn't aged particularly well but man the whole story of Scorpion hating the first Sub-Zero is etched into the deepest parts of my brain. Now in MK1 they're brothers? WTF was Netherrealm thinking?
