Most Frustrating Boss Battles

It's been a while since I've played Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, but now I remember Gyorg as being just horrible. That whole water temple pissed me off, including the mini-boss, but the only way to kill Gyorg was to keep on electrifying him. And you only have so much magic to use unless you drink the unlimited-magic milk.

I hated Gyorg. I would always have to leave the temple after I found all the fairies so I could go to the Great Fairy Fountain and get the extended life meter before going into that boss battle. And come to think of it, I love me the hell out of Majora's mask but the last two temples (Great Bay and Stone Tower) were a real pain in the ass.

I personally liked Stone Tower Temple. The mechanic of turning the temple upside-down was interesting and the temple itself was nice and eerie. That twin worm boss isn't really hard since you get the Giant's mask. Just hack away!

Yeah, that's true, it's a neat mechanic but pretty tough to figure out before the three days is up, even with the Song of Double Time--even after a couple of playthroughs it's still difficult. I thought the three-day time mechanic was really cool for interacting with NPCs, but I hate being timed on the temples. Just a personal nitpick.

Yeah, I know--it's part of the challenge, and Majora's Mask wouldn't be near as good without it. Still hate being timed.

He's frustrating as shit in the US version because all the bosses have more health
Basically you have to navigate through really narrow passages while to run and attack this face fucker, and there are these floating things that you'll have to hit to flip the whole area upside side down. However once it's upsidedown facefucker will move much faster making evading him even harder.
Oh and he shoots projectiles out of his ear.
Fuck him

I remember fighting Star Wolf on Venom. Rather frustrating. At least it was very nice to take out both Wolf and his team.

The Bed of Chaos in Dark Souls. Jesus Christ, you could not make a worse boss if you tried.

Basically, the room is a hemisphere. You start at the middle of the curved side, and the BoC is directly across from you. At the two ends of the hemisphere are glowing roots - weak spots that you have to destroy to open up the BoC's core. The first one is easy to reach and destroy, but once that happens everything goes straight to hell.

The BoC grows this giant flame scythe, and the floor around the outer area starts crumbling away. Most of the outer floor is either obstructed by roots or collapses when you get close, so you have to stay relatively close to the BoC. That puts you in range of her arm-branches, which will swipe at you near-constantly, do humongous damage, can sweep you into the pits if they don't kill you, and are nigh-impossible to avoid.

After you destroy the second weak spot, then the BoC gets a second flame scythe and starts using pyromancy - creating giant flame pillars that pop out of the ground beneath you. Now, you have to run into her core and kill her, except getting past the scythes, the fire pillars, the branches, and the collapsing floors is easier said than done.

There's a few times I'll agree with DaS' detractors and agree that the game is sometimes kind of cheap. This is one of them.

There's a reason why this boss is the only one to have checkpoints mid fight. >_>

Would the Four Kings count as well? I don't care if people said Four Kings was a good fight. I detest that boss so much that it's one of the reasons why I choose not to side with Kaathe. One thing I hated about Bed of Chaos was getting onto the branch beneath it because the arms might sometimes move you to the side. At least the demon inside of it takes only one hit to kill.

I don't like the Four Kings much either, although that's mostly because their attacks are so hard to actually block.

And yeah, getting onto that branch really comes down to luck. I don't know how many times I'd get lined up and drop, only to get clipped by her sweeping arms and knocked into the pit. Then, when I did it with another character, I got through on the first try. Fuck you, Witch of Izalith.

I got a new one in Lightning Returns FFXIII.
Caius. Yup, the bastard's back, and his attacks are stronger than ever. Maybe if he would stop showing off for two seconds I could get in some decent hits.

Seith the Scaleless. Ugh. Granted, the entirety of Dark Souls is rock hard. That was just particularly bad for me.

Yeah, seriously, how's Seath problematic? He's powerful, but really slow and bulky. Put on that Cursebite Ring from New Londo, and you're set.
Don't forget the slumbering dragon crest ring or that spell that muffles your footsteps. Seath can't do much in the actual fight other than attacking while wondering where you are.

Dullahan in Golden Sun: The Lost Age (I've yet to play Dark Dawn...I know he reappears there, but not sure if he's quite as frustrating in it).

There is nothing fair about this guy and he has no weak points. His HP is damn near the cap. He regens 200 HP each turn. One of his moves drains an additional 200 HP from between one and three of your party members. His Formina Sage attack can one-hit-kill pretty much anybody, but at least it only hits one person - he can also use Charon, the second-strongest summon in the game, at will, and it deals insane damage AND has a chance to OHKO party members (the strongest summon, Iris, is what Dullahan is guarding, so you can't use it against him). Oh yeah, and he has the most bullshit move in the game, Djinn Storm, which cripples your entire party's stats, makes you unable to summon, and cannot be blocked or evaded (and makes the Flash/Granite/Shade trick worthless).

To put it into perspective, Dullahan is so strong that he's actually not much harder on Hard Mode - his normal-mode HP is so close to the cap that it's only a small boost on Hard Mode, and his attack power is so high that he'll generally insta-kill you regardless of the difficulty level.

He's the only boss that I simply cannot beat "legitimately" (meaning no summon-rushing) - even Sentinel can be worn down with Djinn and the Sol Blade/Dark Sword, but Dullahan just murders me unless I spam summons from the start (and even then, he tends to take out half my team or more before he dies).

What a dick.
