The wedding song. "Love of a Lifetime" by Firehouse. Now a lot of people actually have no idea who they are or that they even sing the song. But everyone seems to love this sappy, irritating power ballad to the point where they have to have it at their wedding. They also have "When I Look Into Your Eyes", which also shares some fame in the "OMG this is so romantic!" vein. But the first one is way more popular. Note that both songs are their only top ten singles in the US. This proves the point that back then if you wanted to chart you needed those chick song power ballads. Rocking out just didn't sell records fast enough. I know a lot of bands hated this. But the record companies pushed the power ballads for a reason.

Anyway, for some reason the band is still huge in Indonesia and Japan.

let's see here,

all of pink floyd
all of pearl jam
all of nirvana
everything everyone else said

I just want to say that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the unfortunate signature song when Nirvana has so many others that are better. But that's just the way it is. I don't know if Kurt began to hate it or not. But a lot of bands really start to get irritated with their big signature hits after awhile.

"Head Like A Hole" comes to mind. Yeah I think it's overrated. It's that one NIN song everybody knows. And I don't know if it's still true, but Trent used to refuse to play it because he was so damn sick of it.

Meanwhile, Jon Bon Jovi said in an interview a few years back that he's come to terms with having to play "Livin' On A Prayer" every night for the rest of his life.

I think if I ever hear that song even one more time it will be one too many. "Runaway" is way better if you are talking old school singles.

She Blinded Me With Science by Thomas Dolby.
Its massively over played at every store I go to. I actually used to enjoy the song, but now it haunts me everywhere I go.

I agree with you about Pearl Jam and Nirvana. "The Wall" is overrated in respect to Floyd's other albums though. Wish You Were Here in particular seems to get the short shrift.

also red hot chili peppers and most of stone temple pilots, hanz zimmer, most boomer rock, journey, taylor swift, fucking JIMI HENDRIX, and TOOL

ill bitch about individual songs later
