League of Legends is still the most toxic cesspool in gaming, you just have retards screaming at each other for 30 minutes every single game all swearing that they're the next e-sports super star while everyone else sucks. That is if you don't get someone who just wants to grief by purposefully dying, which the report system has little means to punish you for that so it becomes encouraged. I swear almost no one has fun playing that game anymore, I tried playing it for about 2-3 years when it was getting popular and I just gave up. MOBAs in general are toxic, but League is the most popular so it gets the most shit.

Nintendo. There's a whole thread about them. A company that makes children's games with a fan-base of 40 year old man children who throw massive tantrums about what characters are getting added to Smash.

Left 4 Dead 2. Higher difficulties are ruined by trolls who will gun down power just before the exit for "teh epic lulz", and lower difficulties are full of angry casuals who think that if you don't put fuel in the car/generator then no zombies will spawn (it works by area triggers around the pickup locations) and get mad when this genius plan is foiled.

Payday 2. Stealth is useless due to general incompetence of randoms, and going loud results in idiots who got a build off the internet raging because they ran in the open and got gunned down. The forums talk as if it's some high tier pro gamer skill game, demanding more difficult content while exploiting bugs and glitches.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find one meaner than Rust or anything that spins off of that concept

I remember a video by some YouTuber (I think it was RTGame) that played one of those games that was one of the most popular games 5 years ago, and was now completely dead and unfinished.

There are many reasons I like PvP - other players are easily better opponents than most AIs chief among them, at least in theory. In PvP scenarios I find more often than not that your own TEAM is a bigger enemy than the actual enemy. You know the enemy team is going to try and kill you, but you're not always sure if your team is going to do something pants-on-head retarded that screws you over in a way you can do NOTHING about. You're dealing with a bunch of people who are the heroes of their own stories, and fuck you NPC you're just along for the ride. Never mind that they're a fucking drool-bib-wearing retard who can't fucking hold a laser burn in a bucket and fires LRMs and PPCs below minimum range, they KNOW what they're doing and don't you dare suggest otherwise. Eventually you realize that they're at best meatshields, but they can be impressively uncooperative about that too.

People treat this like any other shitty First Person Shooter now and if you don't have anyone who kept patient with that shit (IE, most of my online friends), good luck not getting caught in the circle jerk of spawn killing or getting a bounty put on you as soon as you start a session. It's not fun if anyone wants to do something other than weak flex with auto aim.

FFXIV has athe worst MMO community I've seen, it's a bunch of trannies ERPing in public chat 24/7, who will gang you if you dare to disagree with the pre-established narrative, be it PvE meta, PVP, or RP communities.

Ironically the efforts to keep it squeaky clean (trannies being degenerates is OK, but being mean to others is a big no-no) has bred some of the most obnoxious and insufferable faggots in existence.
I like the game, but hate the community, and its becoming increasingly difficult to find sane people to play with.

Personally its Mordhau's community, they're angry about literally everything even before it happens. Angry about whatever build you may use, if you do or do not use a certain cosmetic, if you dare use a horse, if you have anything in particular with your profile picture.

Any time a company creates a situation where some players can do the "I can hit you but you can't hit me back nyah nyah" shit they invite this kind of problem. It's why I really have no issue with trash talking overall, as long as everyone can talk shit.

There was one Winter holiday season (might've been the first or second year the game was out) where money hacks were fucking rampant and people would have billion dollar bounties on their heads and were being gifted hundreds of millions of dollars just at random, making everything essentially free.

It was the most fun I've ever had in that game, and when Rockstar "fixed" the game it went back to being a boring, annoying cesspool of children.
