Here's where we talk about what we got our mother's for their special day so that they can momentarily forget that their spawn posts on Kiwi farms and will never leave her basement.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer recently so I bought her a google home, that's more than I'd usually pay for a gift (most of the time I take her out and let her choose what flowers she wants for the patio that year) but it's been rough for everyone and I thought she might enjoy it.

I haven't gotten my mother anything for years partly out of bad habit, partly because I just never know what to get her. She's admitted to me anyway that she doesn't really care much for the holiday anymore, so it doesn't matter to her if she gets a present from her kids or not. Dad almost always gets her flowers for that weekend, though, so for an entire week we have a vase sitting on the table where we basically watch the flowers wilt.

The women 18-and-up at my church get chocolate on Mother's Day, so I'm looking forward to getting my chocolate bar on Sunday. And I don't gotta share it.

You know, I completely forgot about Mother's Day until I saw this thread.

I'm thinking chocolate is probably a safe bet. I'm a slut for chocolate, and that pretty much runs in the family.

It's not like I forgot about Mother's Day or anything, but this was a welcomed reminder.

I usually go all out on a bouquet (upwards of $70), and get her a gift certificate to this nail salon she likes for a mani/pedi.

Also, nobody IRL but my buddy at work knows that I post here. It's my dirty little secret.

I gave her the half jar of coconut oil I had left.
that's a good enough gift.

My mum don't go for flowers, and buying her stuff like candy and chocolate is a no-go because if she wants that she goes out and gets it herself.
Honestly the Google Home was the only gift I could think of that she would enjoy. She's actually confused by it currently, I showed her some of the stuff it can do and set it up to play music. I need to find like a "Google Home Guide For Old Ladies" video or something

I give her the old one-two so she knows I'm not withering away in my abode

A box of See's candy... although it seems like every year the price gets higher and higher.
