Shave your head and get a gun.

This is how it works these days, apparently.

Ah, literal magical thinking.

This reminds me of an anecdote from an educator sent to one of these wonderful sub-Saharan joy factories. In this particular instance, they were trying to combat the rampant spread of STDs and unwanted pregnancies among the population, so they brought in the young men and did the usual demonstration of how to use a condom, with a banana as the model.

Some months later, on making the rounds, one of these young men came to complain that it didn't work and that he'd gotten HIV. The educator slowly made absolutely certain than the young man was using a condom as prescribed. Of course, of course he was using the condom, just like it was demonstrated!

Then something clicked in the educator's head and he bothered to ask the young man how he used the condom.

By rolling it over a banana just like in the demonstration and putting it on his nightstand before sex as a ward against disease and pregnancy, of course!

...I have to wonder what exceptional incident triggered this particular belief or if some shaman was just particularly bored, low on his supply of albinos to butcher, and particularly hateful of bald people because one stood on his shadow once.

Bet a white person went to teach a class in the world's taint (Africa) and pointed to a bald person's head as an example and said: "whatever is in here is worth its weight in gold"....
The Africans obviously didn't let the teacher finish the sentence before splitting the bald guy's skull and spreading the rumor.
So this is why people have comb overs
Wrong, that's to keep their female souls from escaping. Ectoplasm can't penetrate a layer of grease and rapidly dying hair.
