Still confused by this outline.
 
Personally I think there's no way in hell Chris could have made honor roll on his own. However I think he DID graduate on the honor roll, but only because the school just let him slide through his classes so they could get him out as fast as possible.

That actually makes a great deal of sense. I know several students in NMS who technically didn't pass any classes (Because the teachers hated them and the fix was in on their grades - something that could never happen now, but did quite a bit back then), who went onto the next grade anyway because the school wanted to avoid lawsuits and ergo, expose the school to the eye of public scrutiny (NMS' admin staff was notoriously corrupt).

Which it eventually fucking got anyway, but this does sound accurate.

Interesting to see that randomly lapsing into Spanish wasn't a one-time occurrence. I wonder if Ricardo's possessing him, Christopher-style.

And yeah, that outline is a metaphor that just went way over his head. I guess it explains why the essay turned out as it did...

What I've noticed about Chris's handwriting is that he seems to be trying to exactly copy those cardboard examples posted above the blackboard when you enter the 3rd or 4th grade and start learning cursive. And instead of figuring out that you don't have to adhere to cursive looking exactly like that........ well, it's Chris.

That is a fantastic scenario and I wish there was some proof of it happening.

Side note- I remember standardized tests in middle school having little writers checklists and verbal instructions that said if you write in any language other than English, you'll get no credit and essentially fail the assignment. I think the same goes for the SAT. Did Chris ever take the SAT? I don't think all community colleges require it so probably not.

Do special ed students take the SAT? I mean, Chris has a bizarre ad hoc arrangement with the sped department, but he could've been exempt anyway.* Or do community colleges require a SAT score?

*This is also not uncommon in particularly cutthroat schools, especially after No Child Left Behind, so as they would not disrupt the aggregate score. Then again, these documents don't really suggest Manchester was much in the ways of "cutthroat."

Like I said, to my knowledge, some (if not all) community colleges do not require the SAT or ACT. I think the only real requirement is that you can pay up which presumably means you can get federal aid and do a FAFSA form because no one can really afford it.

I went straight to a university and had to take a math pre-test to test into regular math course because my math SAT scores weren't high enough but did well enough on the test for English. I don't know if community colleges have a similar set up.

community colleges have open enrollment, but someone might have take a bunch of remedial courses (Chris might have), community colleges rarely force anyone to leave, you can't flunk out of a community college

The fact Chris managed to get through community college honestly boggles my mind. I don't understand how he could handle it since college is pretty much self driven. I can imagine him taking remedial courses but goddamn how the hell did he do it?

patience, community college instructors are probably used to seeing students hang around for years and probably didn't care about seeing Chris take their class the next semester like the staff at MHS did, they only kicked him out after they thought he might rape someone or go on a shooting spree but they were happy to take Borb's money before that

Neither do I. What I do remember is that my high school had everyone take it on a Saturday morning, and my folks kind of surprised me that week by informing me that I was going to be spending part of my Saturday at school filling out multiple choice Scantron sheets. I try not to remember much about that Saturday, aside from trying to get through it as quickly as possible so I could go home and back to bed.

Seriously, there's no fucking way he made honor roll. I don't know what that sash was for, but it couldn't have been honor roll.

Here's a bit from a sketch comedy that's relevant to Manchester High letting Chris skate by high school. The host even mentions that one contestant probably got into honor roll so his self esteem won't crumble
