Multi-level marketing/pyramid schemes and the people who fall for them

Oh god. Tea tree oil is extremely toxic. It really irks me to see it in a lot of natural toothpastes too. I know you don't swallow the toothpaste but tea tree oil is something for topical use not mucus membranes like the inside of your mouth. Some people don't believe me when I say NO essential oils are meant to be ingested, probably because of this MLM shit claiming its OK to ingest. It's literally highly concentrated fragrance. You might as well chug a bottle of perfume. If you want to ingest your plant based medicines you use a tincture, extract, supplement, tea etc. There was a funny story on plebbit about a woman with a Wiccan mother in law who tried to make a "potion" of many pure undiluted essential oils mixed together and shortly after collapsed and died of organ failure. She had burns on her esophagus.
All Wiccans are lolcows.

I don't know if I'm a bad person but the sheer audacity of plugging some essential oils after going on for 3 paragraphs about child rape and how to spot the signs of it is comedy gold to me.

That's why I took the screenshot.
This is how all the Q people sound to me, "millions of babies are having their brains slurped out by satanic pedo billionaires oh yeah vote for this guy for president"

The fact that she's feeding her kids poison and selling the shit in the same breath as all this horror is just the darkest humor.

This right here is proof these people aren't small business owners. Typically, businesses leave politics and conspiracy theories out of their business feeds, for obvious (to everyone but her) reasons.

As of now MLM and conspiracy theories go hand in hand.
I've checked some hunbots Facebook profiles and they are all the same no matter the country - MLM shilling, Nomask post, more MLM shilling, "Covid doesn't exist but the Goverment is using it to kill the poor" (yeah, there are such posts) post, bland inspirational posts followe by cursing about "toxic people" ie those that blocked and unfriended them, etc.

Oh, wood paneling ruled every den in middle America in the 50s-70s.

Oh yeah. We had it in our living room and bed rooms!

Also can't forget the first mass-market vidya console, the Atari VCS (as it was called before the 2600 backronym was applied after the Atari 5200 came out) with faux-wood panelling on the original and first few revisions of it. Even in the early 80s when I first got mine, it reeked of 1977 with the faux-panelling. That was one style that died hard.

I return you all now to your previously discussed issue of MLMs being a fucking plague, as bad as COVID-19 during the outbreak and imo probably responsible for more suicide deaths then the Wu Flu death tally will ever reach.

yeah the bizarro topic switching of Q people always got to me

what's worse is some of the stuff does have basis - it's obvious as fuck to anyone with any braincells that there are rich pedos with kiddie fuck rings, so they use that fact to go on to the truly insane shit. i think that's why there can be some mild "Q believer"/"MLM shill" overlap, because MLM shills do a similar process where a fact like "for some people, essential oils in aromatherapy can help to soothe anxiety" gets shifted to "my snake oil is all the medicine anyone will ever need"

Even old cars had something similar to wood paneling like the wagoneers:

There was a study done on new religious movements (cults) that found that people who had been involved with one, were hundreds of times more likely to get involved with another. We all know what an MLM is, it only makes sense that they'd jump on the Q train. A lot of them follow random small religious cults too. They go through MLMs the same way.

Susceptible people usually have more than one false belief.

Can't agree enough with this.

Anti-vax, new age, dominionist gospel, MLMs, Q/pizzagate, trump supporters, crystals, pray-healing, prolife, commies, "the secret", scientology, flat earth, white nationalism, trooning out, antimask, chakras...

the list is so long and they tend to follow one after another. It's hard to get someone out of a cult, the advice given by the old-school deprogrammers was "get them involved in a less dangerous cult".

True.
This resonates with me because I had to help out a person with obsessive tendencies. The therapist work path was to get her into healthy and constructive obsessions, instead of unhealthy and destructive ones.

PT is a terrific rabbit hole
PT was my introduction to MLMs. I worked with a nurse we all called (behind her back, of course) The Crazy Mary Kay Lady, because she spends all shift working her "business", though she still has to work as an RN because makeup isn't paying the bills. I had always heard that MK was a scam, so I decided to check it out for myself and wow, is it ever! It's disgusting how these companies take advantage of people. I spent over a week reading every article I could. I had no idea how scummy MK is.
