A companion to this thread for those of us whose musical tastes were shaped as much (if not moreso) by our siblings than our parents.

My older sister had way more influence over what I listened to as a kid than either of my parents, so I ended up with a deep appreciation of new wave and post-punk, mainly British. Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Human League, Heaven 17, Talk Talk, A Flock Of Seagulls, The Clash, New Order, Joy Division etc etc. About the only non-British band she was into was Split Enz.

Either way, it was the perfect ear bleach after being subjected to Glenn Campbell or Cher by the olds.

@Pee Cola your older sister has excellent taste
Driving around with my sisters brings to mind how much they both like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande. Also a lot of crappy rap music from the early to mid 2010s and a lot of great rap music from that era like Odd Future and Mac Miller courtesy of my older sister. My younger sister has exposed me to a bunch of Electronic artists like Disclosure, Kaytranada, and Louis The Child. I honestly really like this Disclosure song.

My sister was huge into bands like NOFX and Propagandhi. She did not like my Slayer records at all and she referred to all metal as being “butt rock”. It was quite obnoxious.

Brother: Coal Chamber, Korn, and Slipknot
Sister: Third Eye Blind
In that period, I listened to a lot of My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, Theater of Tragedy, KMFDM, etc, so that was what I subjected them to.

My cousin introduced me to j-pop with songs by W and C-ute back when I was like 6 years old:

I also like some modern britbong rock bands like Kaiser Chiefs/Muse/Elbow because my dad liked to put them on in the car back in the day.

My siblings exposed me to a lot of american music and I have fond memories of my big brother driving me to thrash concerts because he knew that I liked Exodus' guitarist since seeing him play in Slayer's late Hanneman's stead.

My sisters made a mix cd way back when from all the quality limewire rips they could find. It was all over the place in a fun way. They jumped around from Nirvana and Papa Roach (from my brother), to the Pixies, Styx, and the Doors (Spanish Caravan and People are Strange were heavy plays), to the Warped Tour standards of The Used (the Taste of Ink) and At the Drive-In (One-Armed Scissor). Above all others, the two that are stuck in my head forever are Imogen Heap’s “Speeding Cars” and Head Automatica’s “Beating Heart Baby”.

I own every Head Automatica album and have listened to them each about 100 times. I’m still mad about Swan Damage, but I’m excited for their new album.

Gotta say this R&B rap type of music by people like The Weeknd and Drake is so nostalgic for me, I remember these being on all the time. I’ll say that I only really like The Weeknd tbh, Drake turned out to be a chomo but Come Thru song used to be on all the time when my sisters would drive me around. The Hills is a banger still

My brother and I shared a bedroom for many years and he liked to listen to Orgy to go to sleep, using a stereo setup I had gotten from my dad. I was 15, he was 13 and Candyass had recently been released. He always had it very low but I still had some trouble falling asleep some nights, until I got used to it and began dropping off sooner after only three or four songs.
