am I spoiling my cat? because I literally make homemmade cat pates for her every week instead of feeding her canned stuff. any cat friendly food ideas? I sense she's getting bored of the status quo..
 
That's not spoiling, that's probably the best nutrition possible. As long as the food has enough taurine, can't beat homemade.

Treats:
- A good way to turbocharge your cat is to feed it bloody raw/mostly raw steak. That will make even the laziest cat do backflips.
- Liver. I can't stand it, cats seem to love it. Supposedly highly nutritious.
- Moths are apparently tasty.
 
Raw beef liver and raw chicken hearts make nice cat treats. IIRC you want to pace them because there is some theoretical possibility of overdosing on some of the micros in there, but cats love them.
 
I generally don't recommend home cooked diets without consulting a veterinary nutritionist. Just winging it means that the nutritional properties vary wildly from batch to batch. Even recipes on the internet usually aren't balanced. Raw food also carries risk of foodborne illnesses like salmonella and listeria.

Home cooking is entirely doable but it does take work. And unlike humans in veterinary medicine "nutritionist" is something you get board certified through the main veterinary organization (AVMA). It isn't diploma mill bullshit.
 
Yeah as long as you avoid loading it with carbohydrates, which cats aren't suppose to have in high quantities (being carnivores) its not a big deal. A buddy of mine had to take his cats off of store-bought wet food because it just kept making them sick consistently. They got fat on dry food but he figured it was better than having them puking constantly.

So I say if you don't mind putting the time in to whip that stuff up and it doesn't make your cats sick, I say go for it.
 
my parents had a cat make it to her mid 20s and a largish dog that lasted to her late teens getting whatever was the cheapest raw chicken, boiling the shit out of it, and giving them the meat
