Teenage Strangler, one of the host segments is basically "lol entertainment industry relationships are fucked" then they point out in the present tense "lol Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love"
I'm not entirely sure Kurt was still alive by the time this aired.

The Film Crew was shot either in 2004 or 2005, but wasn’t released until 2007 due to Rhino dropping the project when Jim Mallon pressured them against releasing another riffing series alongside MST3K. As a result, footage was being shown at a convention when a riff was made about the Crocodile Hunter, who had died between the shooting and the release of that episode. There was allegedly quite a bit of booing in the crowd.

So recently I got to attend the MST3k Time Bubble Tour live show.

Got to admit, I like EMILY MARSH as the human host more than Jonah (and not just because she's kind of cute for a meatbag). She just has some great Mike-energy to her.

They did this movie:

Which is like if Pod People were remade by the biggest Spielberg fan in the world for about 20 extra dollars. Movie selection was definitely a big help.

And the jokes were spot on with tight pacing and the right level of "biting" to them. Sketches were hit or miss but overall, I was wondering where this crew was during the latest seasons or for rifftrax.

If it shows up in your area, I'd recommend seeing it.
I have now seen the show and it was a lot of fun. Emily Marsh apparently has a background in puppeteering, and I don’t know if that gives her a special insight into how to play off the robots, but she definitely meshes well with the MST3K vibe. Hopefully her episodes will be just as fun.

this host segment struck me as a good one as a good Joel era one
they argue about animal sidekicks for a while and it turns out Joel programmed Servo with a subroutine to pair fictional characters with animal sidekicks because... fuck it, he's trapped in space, it's not like he's got something better to do
I like how it provides some sorta punchlines and re-enforces the "pop culture riffing with a guy trapped in space" aspect of the show

The Master Ninja episodes were among the first ones I watched given that they were part of the syndication package from the mid-1990s, so I’m very sentimental about those ones. “Master Ninja Theme Song!”

EDIT: added 1313 to the list
I know I’m one of the few here who likes the last two seasons (though I will admit that I’m a pretty easy lay when it comes to MST3K), but they are using the Turkey Day marathon to announce the movies being featured on the new season. Here’s what they’ve revealed so far:
1301: Santo in The Treasure of Dracula
1302: Robot Wars
1303: Beyond Atlantis
1304: Munchie
1305: Doctor Mordrid
1306: Demon Squad
1307: Gamera vs Jiger
1308: The Batwoman
1309: The Million Eyes of Su-Maru
1310: HG Wells’ The Shape of Things to Come
1311: The Mask 3D
1312: The Bubble
1313: The Christmas Dragon

I’ll edit this post when the last two movies are announced. Su-Maru will be a redo of a KTMA movie and The Mask 3D will be both the first MST3K Halloween special and the first movie they’ve riffed that will be presented in 3D.

Doctor Mordrid - Oh that could be fun. GBF did a video on it and originally it was going to be a Dr. Strange movie but there was a problem with the rights. Still, the chance to see Jeffrey Combs play Dr Strange is a dream.

The Million Eyes of Su-Maru - Rifftrax recently did that film. It's so VERY 70s. Original MST3k would probably have a great roast of it. I'm a bit nervous how the new era is going to take it. My cringe springs are almost out of warranty.

The Shape of Things to come has Jack Palance in it and it’s usually fun when they’re goofing on a respected actor’s lesser work.

EDIT: The Christmas Dragon is going to be the last episode of the upcoming season. According to the Kickstarter updates, this wasn’t their first or second choice for the Christmas episode. They had issues securing rights or usable prints for the other two, but that’s been a pretty common occurrence through the show’s history

I don't recall there being a dub of that Santo? I recall Mike observing regarding D-Wars that stuff that's heavy on subs doesn't click as well for riffing because people read at lots of different speeds
Also iirc that's the one that has an alternate version that's softcore porn.
them getting in league with Full Moon is intriguing, and enough to make me interested in checking this season via torrent or something
nice to see them finally covering Jiger, it's got the guy who was Cornjob in a different Goofy Guy role
Su-Maru was one of the more solid (or less wobbly) KTMA eps

I caught the tail end of the marathon. By the way, can we finally come out and call the whole marathon thing dead? When you have a twitch/pluto TV channel streaming 24/7 every day it's kind of moot. The bumpers are always unfunny and awkward.

Anyway, I saw some segment at the very end called Crow's poop cubes. I think we can say that MST3K is now fully millenialized. It was aggressively unfunny.

Considering I can watch pretty much any episode of MST3K any time I want, it is hard to get excited for a marathon for Thanksgiving, even if it is tradition.

It can be nice when they play something for the marathon that you might not have expected, like with The Gunslinger this year. A solid episode that’s typically not among the usual suspects when the best episodes are discussed. A couple of years ago, The Night of the Blood Beast and The Girl in Lover’s Lane were part of it, and those are pretty underrated

I'm not too fond of Girl In Lover's Lane. It's not that bad of a movie and really kinda grim. Also they don't do enough with Big Stupid and Danny being clearly gay as af.

If it was a sci-fi era episode they would have hammered that. Just look at the beginning of the Clonus episode for proof of that.

I'm waiting for the day they put the Godzilla movies into the marathon through some kind of one time lease. They might get a few more eyeballs. Yes, you can get the rip of them pretty easily but they still have a mystique about them. Same (for me) with "The Deadly Bees", one of my underrated favorites.
