Since it seems we have a fair few msties among us, I believe we deserve a thread to celebrate and discuss this most awesome of shows. If you love the show(s) then feel frey to spew forth your sperginess and gush about how much you love it, what your favourite episodes are, and whether or not you have seen the rule 34 porn of it (ok...the last one is optional). Similarly to properly gauge the ratio of msties to Room Subforum users and promote further sperging I have created an informal poll

This might be cliche but The Final Sacrafice and Prince of Space are my favorites. I've been to every live show and Birdemic was my favorite. I will be at Night of the Living Dead on the 24th.

I'm seeing Rifftrax live riffing Night of The Living Dead.

Very first MST3K I watched was Manos: The Hands of Fate, though I think The Brain that Wouldn't Die is my favorite.
This is how much I love it:
(I know it's a Mike-era Cambot in with Joel, shut your cakeholes)

My favorite episodes are easily Hobgoblins, and Prince of Space. The last MST3k I watched was that one, Pod people? I think it was called, that was a E.t knock off mixed with a horror. Other great episodes are Laser Blast and Future War. There are so many great eps, they only ep that I could even call close to bad was Monster Ago go, but that was the movies fault, it was so boring and nonsensical that the bots at points could barely riff on it lol. That ep actually is worth a watch because Monster Ago go is an interesting failure, some of the movie was shot with one script, then canned, but later new scenes were shot and added with different actors, to the oldfootage years later. And it really makes NO sense.

And they finally got round to doing Deathley Hallows it seems.

I absolutely love MST3K. I actually have about 20 of the DVD sets (even volume 16 signed by Kevin Murphy). With that being said, there are a lot of episodes that even with riffing, I can't sit through. Some episodes are really hit and miss, although I haven't watched an episode where I didn't laugh at least once. I tried getting my friends into it, but I feel a lot of the humor and references go right over their heads.

As for Rifftrax, I feel that a lot of the magic from MST3K is lost. And while it's understandable, I don't like how their references now are geared more towards the "hip" and "happenin'" pop culture of now. The only ones I've thoroughly enjoyed are The Matrix films. There are a lot of great jokes in that one.

EDIT: Who can forget about Cinematic Titanic? I feel they capture the MST feel more than Rifftrax, but that's just an opinion.

I grew up on MST3K, my dad watched it all the time, and I can't not like it. In fact I've been watching a bunch of them these last few days.

I really would like to check out Riffrax, but my computer is too slow and stupid to make it work right.

Love it, love it, love it. Favorite episodes are probably Space Mutiny, The Final Sacrifice and Cave Dwellers. I also really love the shorts and have a special place in my heart for The Home Economics Story, since it was the very first MST3K I ever saw, way back in highschool.

I know they're kind of passe' nowadays, but I like fan MSTings too, you know, where people riff bad fanfics and stuff. It's hard to find ones that are done well, but there are some really funny ones out there. (Or used to be - the really big MST repository at pinky.wtower.net died ages ago and I don't think anything's ever come up in its place.)

I think we should get something together like "The Official CWCki MST3K Reccomendation List". Pick a bunch of episodes and vote on them to get a top 10 or 20. Would anyone be down for that?

I like when they riff on "movies" that were either un picked up Tv pilots or episode compilations. Since I watched the episode on, "Time of the Apes" I really want to see the original 26 ep series, apparently it was awesome and had things like, Ninja Apes!

I want to see all of the episodes of "The Master". The show that the Master Ninja movies came from. Just looks so bad and good at the same time. It screams 80's.

December 5th: RiffTrax will be doing Santa Clause Conquers the Martians in select theaters.

unpopular opinion: I find the Christmas mst3k episode movies unbearable to watch, even with mike joel and the bots.

Santa Clause and the Ice Cream bunny was pretty bad, the Riffers went "We have nothing to say" and didn't for like 3 minutes.
