Not even at 1.4 million yet.

Keep in mind this goal is for 6 episodes with the main one being 12. I wouldn't be shocked if people cancel their pledges if they only hit 6 because it's probably not worth the money for half a season.

I was looking at some of the forums (reddit, the official one) and the fans are angry. Anyone politely critical of the current version of the show or asking why things costs so much gets yelled at - meanwhile the backers act like they're funding a humanitarian charity. Wild.

I hope this meme is no longer relevant one day.

It'll be interesting to see what the excuse is now that strikes are over. That "goal" is for just 6 episodes, Joel's all but admitted they're not getting 12 - looks like calling everyone who didn't think nu-MST was perfect a "troll" might have been bad for business. It's funny to see the people on the official forums wondering where the audience went.

Just got the latest Riff short, the continuing adventures of Captain Marvel - Lens of Death (Chapter 6). The crew are having fun with this serial, which in the episode features yet another cliffhanger death trap the hero easily escapes from, lots of talk about lens and a nameless butler character who fights with home intruders and acquits himself almost better than Captain Marvel has in a furniture-smashing, chair-tumbling bout of fisticuffs, flying leaps, kicks and thrashing.

That reminds me of the Batman short where... I think it was Vicky Vale's brother? Gabe? Put on the Batman suit for a minute and performed a much more impressive round of fisticuffs and goon bashing than Batman had in the entire serial up to that point (or in the rest of it).

What was it with those serials back then and having random side dudes perform as heroes better than the actual hero?

I checked the livestream and the viewer number was around 750 or so - the writers were talking over the episode which must have been annoying for anyone who hadn't seen it. I assume they're going for Turkey Day as the big push. I seriously think if they just went with Jonah as host and his bots as "the only bots" people would be happier.

I'm going to check out that Captain Marvel stuff - those Batman shorts were some of the funniest Rifftrax ever did.

The Captain Marvel serial might be the earliest superhero-on-video that's pretty good. There a moment early on where Captain Marvel is being hosed down with a machine gun, and the actor gets this goofy "Hey, I'm bulletproof!" grin that's absolutely perfect. Problem is every cliffhanger is "Will Billy be able to say the word 'Shazam?!'" which makes it a bit redundant.
That said, yeah, the Rifftrax version is a delight.

Just in time for the season, I checked out the Rifftrax of "Amityville Dollhouse", their second visit to the string of Amityville-related films, as a blended family moves into a new house, but there's a dollhouse in a shed that looks just like the famous house which is apparently good enough for whatever's responsible when something that looks like a boy's dead father appears to him in his closet and other shenanigans like the large spider that comes out of a pinata at a party and lands on a boy's face. It's not the worst film made with Amityville in the title, not while there's films like "Amityville In Space" (seriously) around.
"He's sweatier than Gonzo in a chicken coop."

Hardest I've laughed at a Rifftrax in awhile.

I really like the episode with Jack Frost (S08 E13). It's this bizarre soviet movie about the Morozko folklore with some surreal visuals at points. Another russo-finnish film they did in similar vain is the episode with The Magic Voyage of Sinbad (S05 E05). It's also funny as hell. They had a lot for them to work off. Both Fugitive Alien (S03 E10 & S03 E18) episodes are a couple of my favorites also.

Video unrelated to those episodes

This is just sad. There's no way they thought they'd be this far away from the first goal with 12 days left. I guarantee you people are going to cancel pledges because they wanted a Blu-Ray with twelve episodes and not six.

I remember they dropped a couple season 13 eps into last year's Turkey Day and the Youtube chat HATED them. The fans canceling the show would be a perfect ending.

EDIT: it's failing because the fans all DIED is amazing:

Anyway, an underrated episode from happier times:

yeah I wasn't really that annoyed at Jonah and the bots (excluding Rowlf The Dog But He's A Robot), but once they made it clear it was going to be some musical chairs shit I mostly checked out.
renaming Gypsy after thirty years bugged me too, despite being a gypsy who occasionally gets a little bitchy when I run into random crap named "gypsy" when they'd never sell a product called "The Negro" or "The Hebrew"

Day The Earth Froze is another one like that.
Fugitive Alien's pretty neat. I've glanced at the raw Japanese tv show, seems like a pretty decent thing. The original Star Wolf books that the show was based on are fun enough space adventures.

I was thinking about how the new fundraiser is going over like a wet fart, it's something to see MST go from setting a world record for Kickstarter to not even reaching goals on Other Platform in the span of a few years
It's a melancholy thing for me. Joel isn't some multi-billion asshole company squandering billions of dollars on retarded scripts; he's just a guy who mucked up one season of his show and people don't want more from him. I'm not saying former fans are obliged to keep consuming new product, I just wish things could end well for him. It's hard to look at what's happening to Disney without laughing, but this is sad.

Joel is to MST as Jimmy Page is to Led Zeppelin. It’s his baby and he’s stuck on it forever, blind to the fact that it was lightning in a bottle. The other original members of the lineup have more awareness around what made it special, and they’ve moved on.
The biggest thing that stands out is the change from "okay, this week we're writing then recording Robot Monster. Okay this week we're writing and recording The Corpse Vanishes" and made it (afaik) more like Hollywood and filming different chunks to fit everybody's schedules
